Spending Tracker is a personal finance app for Windows that records your expenses and income, organizes each transaction by category, and shows the result through easy-to-read charts and reports. It's designed both for keeping track of your household finances and for separating your personal expenses from those of your small business.
Log transactions quickly
Adding an expense or a deposit takes just a few seconds, and you can then sort the list by date, name, or amount, depending on what you're looking for at that moment. With the paid version, recurring payments, such as your rent or subscriptions, can be set up to be added automatically, so you only have to record them once.
Categories with their own icons
Each expense or income category has a different icon to help you identify it on the list at a glance, whether it's food, transportation, utilities, or something else you've added. Editing, renaming, or creating new categories is done from the same panel, without needing to restart the app or losing the transactions already recorded under the previous category.
Multiple accounts within the same app
You can create separate accounts for personal use, for a business, or for a savings fund, each with its own transaction history and its own balance. Switching between them is straightforward, so you can manage several sets of accounts at the same time without the numbers from one getting mixed up with those of another.
Visual reports and data export
Spending Tracker's reports translate the transaction history into pie charts and summary tables that show you where most of your money is going at a glance. Data can be exported in CSV for analysis via spreadsheets or as a PDF that's ready to print, and there's also a backup in Dropbox in case you change devices later on.
My experience with Spending Tracker
I created two separate accounts, one personal and one for joint expenses with my partner, and started recording the week's expenses in categories like food and transportation, each with its own icon. I scheduled our rent payment as a recurring expense so it would be recorded automatically every month, and then I checked the pie chart to see which category I had spent the most money on that week.
What I like most about Spending Tracker and what could be improved
· What I liked most: The ease of use and the clarity of the pie charts allow you to see which categories you spend the most on at a glance.
· What could be improved: Data exports to PDF or CSV and automated recurring expenses are only available with the paid version.
