Game 163 - Twilight Kin - 2022/10/23

Greetings!

It's been a while since my last battle report. Once again, real life had quite a lot of "distractions" in store for me in the last half a year. As a result, I had very little spare time for hobby in general.

I am thus grateful that Duncan reached out to me and suggested a game by email. It helped me to rekindle the interest in Kings of War and to try an carve out some time for the hobby, no matter what. I also want to take this opportunity and thank Duncan for his great patience, especially in the period prior to commencing the battle.

I have never had an opportunity to play against Duncan before. I met him virtually in March when he attended Monster March together with his daughter and submitted some really cool models! So it was great to have the opportunity to play the game together as well. What is more, he also decided to field his Twilight Kin. The army I have played before only once. Considering it is currently being heavily reworked before its new incarnation is going to be published, I thought it is going to be an interesting battle.

Twilight Kin has any interesting units to choose from and I did not know what to expect. Here is what Duncan decided to bring this time. Both armies were at 2000 points:

Twilight Kin - Army List

Blade Dancer Neophytes Horde (N), Infantry, Fire-Oil - 205
Cronebound Butchers* Horde (B1), Large Infantry - 200
Cronebound Butchers* Horde (B2), Large Infantry - 200

Cronebound Abyssal Horsemen Regiment (H1), Cavalry, Sir Jesse's Boots of Striding - 255
Cronebound Abyssal Horsemen Regiment (H2), Cavalry, Potion of Caterpillar - 255

Cronebound Gargoyles* Troop (G1), Heavy Infantry - 85
Cronebound Gargoyles* Troop (G1), Heavy Infantry - 85

Cronebound Mind-screech (M), Monster - 150

Summoner Crone (SC), Hero (Infantry), Drain Life (6), Scorched Earth (2) - 115
Army Standard Bearer (A), Hero (Infantry), Lute of Insatiable Darkness - 85
La'theal Bleakheart[1] (LB), Hero (Infantry), Drain Life (7), Fireball (10) - 165

The army has 12 units, 9 scoring and total unit strength of 22.

Game 79 - Twilight Kin - 2018/02/17

Greetings!

One of the best things about the tournament like Clash of Kings this year was that there was quite a number of new players attending and who traveled far to participate.

Marcus, my next opponent, is one of such players. He told me it was his very first tournament and 8th game in Kings of War in total! Despite the fact he has just started playing this game he brought beautifully painted army and I wish I had more time to take better pictures of his great looking units. Here are the details of the army he was commanding:

Twilight Kin - Army List

40 Crossbowmen, Horde, Heart-seeking Chant
- Gargoyles, Troops
- Gargoyles, Troops
- Dark Lord on Black Dragon, Hero, Brew of Haste

20 Reaper Guard, Regiment
- Dark Lord on Black Dragon, Hero, Blade of Slashing

10 Dark Knights, Regiment, Potion of Caterpillar
- Army Standard, Hero, Lute of Insatiable Darkness

6 Darkscythe Chariots, Wine of Elvenkind
- Ba'su'su the Vile, Hero

Edge of the Abyss - On the Precipice - Twilight Kin - 2017/09/10

Greetings!

Edge of the Abyss campaign started on 28th August and I was very happy to join and contribute to this global event. Luckily for me, our fantastic local TO, Tas, already had some great plans and rallied KoW players to participate in weekly game night to fight for the future of Mantica. The friendly crew of Three D6 store hosted us and we had plenty of room to have several games being played simultaneously.

The plan is to play each scenario in each week and then have a big battle at the very end of campaign. Hence, while I am reporting this game with a bit of delay it was actually played on 24/08/2017. As planned, we begun with the very first scenario "On the Precipice" that was fought at The Edges of the Abyss. Thanks to the fact that some players have few different armies it was possible to have equal numbers of Good and Evil forces.

In the very first game of the campaign I had a pleasure to play against Mark and his Twilight Kin! I have played against Mark a few times so far but I think it was always against his Elven armies. He brought the following for the opening of the campaign:

Twilight Kin - Army List

40 Crosbowmen, Horde, Jar of the Four Winds
- 10 Shadows, Troops
- 10 Shadows, Troops
- Priestess, Hero
- Dragon Breath, War Engine

20 Blade Dancers, Regiment
- Priestess, Hero

20 Blade Dancers, Regiment
- Army Standard, Hero

10 Dark Knights, Regiment, Maccwar's Potion of the Caterpillar
- Dark Lord on Pegasus, Hero
10 Dark Knights, Regiment, Blessing of the Gods
- Army Standard, Hero

The Valley of Kings 1 - Twilight Kin - 2017/03/22

Greetings!

In the round 3 of the Valley of Kings tournament I had a chance to play against the army I have never faced before - the Twilight Kin! I was very excited as it meant I will have a game with a civil war theme. These are always very close and bloody!

Andrew, who commanded a beautifully painted army of the Evil Elves, is also a new opponent for me so I was very happy to play against a new player with a new army at the same time!

I was very intrigued by Andrew's army because it was a combination of units that seemed to be a copy of some of my own and those that are unique to the Twilight Kin army:

Twilight Kin - Army List

40 Crossbowmen, Horde, Heart-seeking Chant
- 10 Shadows, Troop
- 10 Shadows, Troop
- Bolt Thrower, War Engine
- Hydra, Monster
- Dark Lord, Hero, Scarletmaw's Fenulian Amulet

20 Reaper Guard, Regiment, War-bow of Kaba
- 10 Blade Dancers, Troop
- 10 Blade Dancers, Troop
- Bolt Thrower, War Engine

10 Dark Knights, Regiment, Maccwar's Potion of the Caterpillar
- Hydra, Monster
