Frequently asked questions.

It’s our trade-in program that can help you get the latest Pixel device from Google. If your trade-in device is eligible for credit, you can offset the purchase price of a new one. You can get all this done online at the Google Store, making it convenient for you to complete your transaction all in one place. Terms & Conditions.
We’ve made it easy to trade in an eligible device online. During your purchase of a new Pixel device, select “Start trade-in” on the “trade-in” screen. We'll provide an estimated trade-in value. If you accept the trade-in estimate online and complete your purchase, we'll arrange for you to send your old device to our trade-in partner. You'll receive your new device before returning the old one, which gives you time to set the new one up. Once our trade-in partner has received your old device, we'll inspect it and verify that its condition matches what you told us at the time of purchase. If everything is in order, we'll credit your original purchase method. If the condition of your device doesn't match what you described, a new estimated trade-in value will be credited back to you unless during your purchase you chose to receive your old device back without credit if its condition doesn't match what you described.
A credit card refund is only available if a Pixel device is purchased.

Refund is based on (and paid after) the device received matches the description you provided at time of estimate (manufacturer, model, whether it turns on, whether it has screen damage, etc). The refund will be issued to the form of payment you used for the order. If the trade-in refund exceeds the cost of your new Pixel device: The excess amount will be provided as Store Credit. Devices sent for trade-in must be received within 30 days of receiving your new device, provided the purchased device has not been returned during that time.

Please do not send your device if it has a damaged or swollen battery. If the inspection results show swelling or other physical damage to the battery, the device will not be eligible for credit and cannot be returned due to safety issues and local regulatory requirements.

Please note that phones reported lost or stolen, phones found to be counterfeit, phones that don’t power on/off, and phones that are not factory reset or have passcodes and locks when received will also not be accepted for trade-in, and may not be returned due to safety issues and local regulatory requirements.

It depends on the device, model, manufacturer, and condition. Answer a few questions accurately, and once we receive the device within the specified time frame and verify its condition, you’ll most likely receive the full amount of the estimated refund. Keep in mind that our trade-in partner needs to receive your device within 30 days of receiving your new phone, and the condition needs to match what you told us.
You can trade in Google Pixel phones, watches and tablets. Many third-party devices are also eligible for a trade-in credit.
Generally, it takes 3-4 weeks after you send your device. But the sooner you send your device, the sooner we can verify its condition and process your credit.
You can only trade in one device per Pixel purchase. If you would like to trade in multiple devices, you can do so by purchasing multiple phones in separate orders.
Follow the instructions included in your trade-in kit. It explains how to prepare, pack, and ship your device. Keep in mind that the estimated trade-in value is valid for 30 days, and we encourage you to send the device within this time frame to ensure that you get the value.
Before you send your device, we’ll tell you how to back up and erase all your data. This ensures that all your personal information is completely removed from your device before you trade it in.
If you select Google Store Financing as a payment option, the trade-in value will be refunded to your financing balance. Note that if you have also financed the device you are trading in, you will continue to be responsible for those payments, even after trading in your device. If you select Verizon device payment, we’ll deduct the value from the full retail price of your new device.

You can find the status of your trade-in by selecting "trade-in details" from your order history.
- Confirmed: You started the trade-in process and got an email confirmation.
- Device assessed: We’ve sent you an email with the value of your old device.
- Canceled: You canceled your trade-in before you got your kit.
If you haven’t yet shipped your old device, you can cancel your trade-in by simply keeping your device and disposing your trade-in kit. If you’ve already shipped your device, the trade-in can’t be canceled.
You don’t have to, but you can always send in your chargers and cables, and we will recycle them for you.
