Game is fundamentally really fun, the concept, the community.

But there's more flaws than there are pros.

Illfonic and Gun have been in the asymmetrical horror scene for quite some time now. Illfonic and Gun have developed a habit of obtaining IPs, creating asymmetrical PVP games, supporting them for about a year, releasing mostly meaningless DLC that's little more than skins with some numbers tweaked, and then dropping them when interest dies down.

Texas chainsaw. Predator Hunting Grounds. Killer Clowns. Ghost Busters. These are all games that got dropped at worst, or at best are now on lifelines. There is absolutely nothing that makes me think that Halloween won't just be the next momentary project that gets tossed in 6 months to a year.

And the signs are already there.

Gameplay has Myers using a detection skill on cooldown, which equates to a kill per cooldown at the least, meanwhile the survivors are scrambling to find RNG items that MAY OR MAY NOT spawn and MAY OR MAY NOT bug out and partially exist in the game.

Yes it's fun, but long term I don't see it lasting.

I skipped the tutorial at first, but when I went back to it later, I realized it's amazing. The vibe is great, really gives a creepy atmosphere. Gameplay gets a bit repetitive but it's so addicting you don't even care. I only play civilian for now cos I refuse to get bullied.

Game was fun for the first two days because no one knew what they were doing. Now its just a COOP game where you rush to the people tell them to hide and them open an escape and tell the NPC to escape. Some games you can go the entire game without seeing Meyers as he will just kill random citizens and when he does appear he is max bloodthirst and just 3 shots everyone because of stun locking with attacking. Game is a snoozefest

I love the concept of the game, but the balance between Michael Myers and the survivors clearly needs work.

I just finished a match where I got knocked down for the entire game by players playing as Bob, who had found a metal pipe near a chimney. That weapon never breaks, and I ended up sandwiched between two players who kept chaining hits on me without me being able to do anything.

The real issue is that Myers loses his bloodlust as soon as survivors hit him or shoot him. That makes no sense to me: it means any player can cancel out his power growth just by hitting him or shooting at him, which should be risky for them, not a miracle solution. The longer the game goes, the stronger Myers should get, not punished for being attacked. As a result, survivors get off way too easy. I landed multiple axe hits without even dropping a quarter of a survivor's health bar, and they regenerate on top of that without doing anything. Healing items feel completely useless in this game.

Another issue: Myers' abilities take way too long to recharge, especially the one meant to let him grab a survivor, which becomes useless since survivors almost always have a knife on them to break free, and even without a knife, a Bob frees himself unusually fast.

That said, I'm not saying the problem is only on Myers' side, because playing as a survivor is also frustrating when Myers doesn't even try to grab you and just hits you directly instead. On that note, the "Evil Presence" ability, which forces the survivor to step back, feels a bit too strong: Myers wouldn't need to force that step-back if survivor stamina was nerfed as a trade-off. There's also a real problem when playing Myers trying to stop a moving car: you can't teleport in front of it unless you have the "Shattered Reality" ability, because survivors can see too far ahead and prevent you from reappearing in time. Another point: firearms clearly don't do enough damage, a survivor can fire 4 or 5 shotgun shells at Myers without even knocking him down.

There are also way too many ways to escape the map: regular cars, police cars, exit doors at the edge of the map, the 2-3 bunkers scattered around, and the ambulance. On top of that, survivors can straight up win by running out the clock: if you waste time trying to catch one player without succeeding, the others have plenty of time to evacuate the whole town. I also find the survivors' perk cards way too strong, giving too much of an advantage, and they can even be stacked to become even more powerful.

Finally, I feel like survivors have constant stamina. Even though it's been nerfed recently, it's still way too generous. I much preferred Friday the 13th's stamina system: there was real tension around managing stamina and healing, which is clearly missing here.

The result: matches are frustrating on both sides, whether you're spending most of the game on the ground as Myers, or getting hit without being able to react as a survivor. It's a shame, because the game has real potential, but the overall balance needs to be a priority fix. I will update my Steam review once these points have been addressed.

Even if Michael Myers kills you, the real losers are us the player who bought the game at full-price.

Hot Garbage. Needed more time in the oven

It’s a scary game. I got jumpscared so bad so many times. It’s a new game so I don’t get why people are hating on it already. There’s a lot of customization and the gameplay is amazing too.

The graphics are really good, but the optimization isn’t that great right now. Even on low settings it still looks amazing, but the game can struggle to run sometimes. Hopefully they fix that in the future.

For a $40 game though, that’s also an issue. I wouldn’t buy the game if you’re gonna play alone unless you just wanna play as Michael. You can also play with randoms, but playing this game with friends is amazing.

The story is extremely short, only being about 2-3 hours. I also wouldn’t buy the game if you’re just gonna play the story. It’s overall a pretty average story.

If you’re buying the game to 100% it, it actually seems pretty good from what I’ve seen. There are some bugs where certain achievements don’t work, but I’m sure they’ll get fixed in the future. I haven’t 100% the game yet though, so I can’t really say much about that.

Honestly, I’d only recommend getting this if you have friends who are gonna play it with you. If you’re just gonna play a few matches every once in a while or mostly play alone, I’d probably spend the $40 on something else.

Very fun asym game! I think it just needs some more tweaking and it'll be perfect!

This game is addicting, but also buggy as Hell on PC. I can't even complete story mode because it disconnects me. So if you want a smooth experience, I'd wait until they iron out more of the bugs, which they should have done before releasing the game at it's big price. However, if you can overlook that, multiplayer is a LOT of fun, and the early experience might be something you don't want to miss out on, because most of the matches are still fairly casual and goofy.

The game is full of bugs along with the the insane lack of balance
