Siege of Augusta 2024!

Got back from Siege of Augusta yesterday.  Managed to run 15 games over the two days, five of each: Shoot N' Skedaddle, Scrapheap, and Caverns, Crypts, & Catacombs.

Had a lot of fun, lost my voice, and got to introduce the games to a lot of people.  I forgot to take many pictures, but I gathered several from other convention-goers.

It was the most busy Siege of Augusta I've attended (I've gone maybe 5-6 times in the past 10 years).

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, though many had complaints about the hotel which is slowly becoming more run-down each year.

Convention: Siege of Augusta, 2023

Siege of Augusta occured this past weekend - a nice "medium" size convention, the type I generally prefer.  If I had to guess I'd think some 200-250 people attended over the weekend.

For some reason I decided to host games non-stop from Friday at noon through Saturday at midnight.  I brought no less than three of my own games, and ran them in large blocks, just firing up games as players showed up.

The curse of "I don't like technology" struck...when I realized I had snapped only a handful of pictures of other peoples' games before putting my phone away for the whole weekend.  I just don't like whipping out my phone...but I should have!

Fortunately I was able to scrounge pictures from other attendees on the Facebook page.

One of several rounds of Caverns, Crypts, & Catacombs.
The party considers its next move.
The small demo-dungeon.
Running Scrapheap on my new junk town table!
Intrepid adventurers encounter a spectre.
The junk town I set up for demo-ing Scrapheap.
Another shot of Caverns, Cryptes, & Catacombs.
The town for Shoot N' Skeaddle.
Another shot of Drake's Branch, my old west town.
A picture from my buddy's "rescue peasants" fantasy game he custom designed for the convention.

More of main street.
A Halfling struggling to catch up with his partners.
Another few shots of the Scrapheap table.

A post-apocalyptic game that I didn't decipher.
An attractive Civil War game.
I believe this was Franco-Prussian war.
One of the other two Old West games we had running on Friday.
An attractive ancients "trireme" era naval game.

Convention: CoastalCon 2022 (Beaufort, SC)

Attended CoastalCon this weekend down in Beaufort, SC.  I ran one evening of Caverns, Crypts & Catacombs - and then Saturday I ran Shoot N' Skedaddle while my buddy ran some Scrapheap.

Always a fan of small conventions, and had a lot of fun.

Some Battlegroup work and some Old West shootin'.

Been doing a lot of work on a variety of projects - but have neglected the blog for a bit.

Some pictures from today's SnS bloodbath.

And some Battlegroup progress.  Having begun 15mm Battlegroup, my first handful of purchases were random Zvezda tanks.  I used these to work out how to paint 15mm, and what colours I liked, etc.  I threw on some rather slapdash decals....and since then I've not been happy with them.  I put this lot up on eBay and luckily no one picked it up!  I then decided to recover them instead.

So I whipped out the old ultrasonic cleaner and some alcohol and set to work stripping down the tanks.  Then I went through and re-gunned most of them, added additional stowage, made some battle damage and then repainted them and re-did the decals with new proper ones.  I'm pretty happy with the salvage operation though I've got a few left to recover!  I also added a second platoon to the Fallschirmjaeger and an 88 crewed by some PSC crew.

Three Zvezda T-34's recovered.  The center one has been fitted with an FoW turret to match the other two.
Three FoW KV-1s with fixed turrets and replaced paint/decals.
KV-1S additional turrets painted up.
FJ platoon with an 88 FlaK in support.

Three Zvezda KV-1s which went under heavy surgery.  Re-gunned, additional stowage, battle damage, and a full repaint and re-decal.  Painted with a fictional "Far East" service camouflage scheme.
