View Onto the Deck

Studio Sink

Pottery Studio Sink, Pownal, VT.  12x12 inches, oil on linen panel.  Other painters have done studio sinks.  There's a tradition.  Three painters that come immediately to mind are Richard Diebenkorn, Lucien Freud and Antonio Lopez Garcia, though I know there are more.  

More Floor

Pressing Palms

Window View, Charleston, SC. 8x6 inches, gouache on mixed media paper.  The breeze outside would jostle the palm branches, which were already pressing against the glass. The scraping sounds made you think the palms were going to burst in.

Inspiring Interior Place

A Combo-Experiment

This is a combo-experiment.  I've wanted to start doing interiors.  And I want to work from drawings where there's just so much information, so some has to be invented. Here's a view from a living room out to the porch, an excuse for putting down painted markings, from a drawing I did yesterday.  6x8 inches, gouache on mixed media paper.

From The Rocking Chair

If we placed the last three studio drawings side-by-side, we'd have a panoramic view of the studio from the rocking chair.  For this third drawing, I looked more to the left.  12x9 inches, pencil on paper.
