Hoi,
As promised last post, here are some pictures of the new HäT ACW Confederate infantry figures.
It was really nice to paint these guys in all the different shades of grey...uhm... yeah well you get my meaning. So I guess more will follow in the future.
Cheers Sander

ACW it is...
Hoi,
Yeah well, for most of my hobby-life I have kept well away of the American Civil War but then this happened:
Yup that's my ugly mug as boxart again...
So obviously I now have to buy some boxes of those for the family as well and what to do with the figures eh? Apart from that I also received the testshots for all 3 sets (Command, US Marching and CS Marching) and well I have painted up most of them. Here are the US troops
Oh and yes I am aware I accidentally switched round the Colours, but I can't repair that without damaging the figures so I will leave it like this.
In a later post I will show you the CS infantry.

Out with the Old in with the New
Hoi,
It cannot be denied that it has been a long while since I have posted here. Now you will have noticed the update of the look of the blog, that was one of the reasons for my stay of absence. There are legio other reasons but I won't bother you with that now. Let me first tell you about the picture now adorning the banner of this blog. It's a drawing of me, obviously, in 7YW Austrian uniform.
It came about due to my close relationship with the great people at HäT industries, who at one point realised that since most new boxart is done digitally, it could be done with real people's faces on them rather then invented persons. So I was asked would you like to donate your face to some boxart? Oh hell yes I would like to! So now you can go to any good modelshop and buy two different boxes featuring my ugly mug i.e. the 7YW Austrian command and samples boxes.
Save to say I am immensely proud and happy to receive this honour. I am allowed the use of the picture for own use so I asked a co-worker of the arts-department at school, who's great with digital stuff, to create me a new banner and hey presto. The fact I am not able to centre it correctly is due to the vagaries of Blogger, but hey it looks nice enough to me.
Meanwhile I have been busy doing work but have also done a little hobbying by the side and I will be showing some of the results of that here soon.
For now that's all folks, cheers Sander

Proof of life!?
Hoi,
Very much like Lord Awdry over at 28mm Victorian Warfare, I am finding myself incredibly busy with the start of the new school-year. While I have been painting some figures, a lot of time goes into other, work related, stuff.
Even so I managed to finished these Prussian Landwehr troops. They are white metal 20mm figures which are the stretchgoals of HäT industries second crowdfunder project. I was lucky to get a few early to put some paint on them. Great little sculpts and they paint up nicely.
From left to right they depict:
A surgeon, ADC, sapper and officer.
Cheers Sander

Unmarried Zulu's or Napoleonic Austrians anyone?
Hoi,
Just a quick post to let you all know that HäT has put up a duo of crowdfunders for 1:32 Austrian Napoleonics and 1:72 Unmarried Zulu warriors here: LINK.
These sets have been in the making for quite some time and to fasten the process, HäT has now decided to go the way of the crowdfunder to bring them to the wider public.
While I have no use for 1:32 figures I have ordered some of the Zulu's which are Unmarried ones at this moment not available on the market in correct attire anywhere.
For about $15 you would be getting 60 Zulu's! Yup I am in ;-)
Cheers Sander

7th Regiment de Ligne
Hoi,
The latest HäT testshots were of pre- and post 1812 (Bardin regulations) French line infantry. The pre-1812 soldiers have already been showcased here so now their post-1812 comrades are up. For these I wanted to do something different. As it happens I get the Images des Soldats newsletter and one of the featured uniformplates depicted Kingdom of Holland line infantry regiments. As I also have a Dutch book on these troops, I decided to go with a regiment de ligne from the Kingdom of Holland. The choice of particular regiment fell on the 7th because for this regiment I had more reference with both a regular soldier and pioneer in colour. It appears to have become a bit of a tradition for me to forget about the mounted officer, I paint the unit and the horse, but forget the officer himself. The unit shown here is made up out of figures from 3 different sets (pre 1812 command, post 1812 infantry and flank companies in greatcoat).
Anyway, let the pictures speak for themselves:

Some Early Napoleonic French
Hoi,
As promised, here are some HaT testshots. For those of you who do not know what this means: testshots are sprues of pre-production figures they are made by the factory to show the manufacturers if the moulds turned out as they wanted or not. There are several of these sprues made available to a select few people and I am lucky to get some from time to time.
The sprues currently pre-released are of pre 1812 French Infantry marching and command sets as well as a post 1812 marching set. I have obtained two sprues worth of each and so have nearly enough figures to create two wargames units between them. At this moment I have painted the pre 1812 marching figures and part of one command sprue.
Here are the pre 1812 marching figures:
Some of the command figures (excluding the mounted officer):
I have added 4 white metal pre 1812 figures sent to me by Hagen miniatures to the unit to round them out.
The Hagen figures:
The entire unit:
The set contains separate head options for early Napoleonic light infantry tarleton helmets, shako's and bicornes. I chose to depict the soldiers as they come in the box.
Cheers Sander

Some more Grey...
Hoi,
As I promised to keep you posted on the progress of the brigade of Napoleonic Prussian Reserve- or Landwehr Infantry here's the first finished battalion. Basically I have enough figures to depict 5 battalions. The first I had already painted some time ago. I gave the regiment yellow facings and while thinking about which colour to give the next 4 battalions, I stumbled along the excellent Mont Saint Jean site. There I found that these regiments had several battalions in the field, distinguished from each other by their shoulder-straps. So I decided to depict another battalion of the regiment already painted (with the yellow facings) and do the other 3 units in different facing colours.
Here they are.
As you can see the miniatures are HäT except for the drummer and the two other troopers on the command stand which are Revell figures.
Cheers Sander
