Mystery Inc. Part II

Hoi,

While these figures already partook in the battle at the Ducosim and are thus shown in the batrep of said battle, I will show the Mystery Machine and the ladies here in more detail. Partly because Anne specially asked for the pictures ;-)

First a group-shot:

Here are Daphne and my all-time favourite Velma.

Some separate shots of the van. The model is from Armour Cast and most of the bits used to upgrade it are GW and Ainsty vehicle parts.

Somewhere on the unpainted pile are the regular, unarmed, Mystery Inc team, but I will be painting other stuff before I start on them.

Cheers Sander

ATZ Battlereport

Hoi,

Yesterday was Queen's Day here in the Netherlands and part of the celebrations is a flea market which is held in practically every town and while I like perusing flea markets it was also a good opportunity to invite a friend for some gaming and painting.

So we started a game of All Things Zombie. For this game I adopted the role of GM and devised the following scenario. Somewhere in the woods of Northern America, a secret army lab had concocted a "supervirus" which, with all predictability, caused all the base's inhabitants to turn into zombies. Some of the scientists of the base succeeded in getting away and seeking refuse in a secluded village. There they boarded up some log cabins and waited for the cavalry.

My friend Mark played a 4 man rescue team which had to rescue 3 scientists from 2 separate cabins and extract them off table. Here are some pictures we took.

The team advance on the village

First zombies are sighted

 Different angle of the village

One of the troopers uses his shotgun to good effect and blasts 3 undead to their end...

After splitting up, the team nears the target building from the left flank

Zombies appear to be harder to crack then thought and the shotgun trooper is overwhelmed and eaten

The shooting draws more zombies near. Since I had only painted up 10 male zombies and 10 zombie dogs I had to resort to using unpainted ones

Zombies start gathering in great number around turn 8

A second trooper succumbs to the undead-attack.

Right about this time the batteries of my camera went empty so no more pictures, sorry. What happened was that the dead trooper drew most of the zombies for a feast and gave the rest of the team a chance to get two of the scientists out off their hide-out. They then went for the last building with just a small amount of undead in pursuit.

They managed to free the remaining target and call in extraction by helicopter before turn 10 ended. A very fun game to play indeed!

Bag o' Babes...

Hoi,

Yesterday I got my missing zombie figures in the mail. They are some female zombies from the same series as my dogs and male zombies.

Close up they look like this, but let's be honest: who wants to get that close?

Brains, BRAAAAAIIIIIIIINS....

Hoi,

A while ago I got infected with the zombie-virus (thanks JW) and so I have been painting up some figures and vehicles to start shooting dead-'uns. The rule set I'm gonna use is from the game All Things Zombie (also know as "better dead then Zed").

First up are some old Airfix civilians http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=366 I haven't had a use for earlier:

Next are a couple of Revell Humvee's, Yes the windows are very VERY blue, but I made these with gaming in mind so left all the fiddly stuff and omitted an interior so I had to paint the windows...

These 4 chaps are from two separate sets I have lying around the first two are from another old Airfix set: USAF personnel http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=47 the right two chaps are from an ESCI set: Modern US soldiers http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=524 I painted the latter as a SWAT team, I am going to do 2 more since I intend to make 4 man teams for the players. The civvies and USAF chaps are Non Player objectives. This means that they need to be rescued by the players.

Last up is one of my zombies, I call him Zed 01. He's from Zombies!!! The boardgame http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/2471/zombies They do separate bags with miniatures, I have currently got a bag o' zombies and a bag o' dogs and a bag o' babes on backorder.

The zombie isn't much bigger then the 20mm figures but his base is rather thick so he towers above the other mini's but this rather adds to the fright they are going to cause the players... I hope ;-)

Who do you think you are kidding mister zombie?

Hoi,

Last Saturday Jan Willem hosted a game of "All Things Zombie" http://www.allthingszombie.com/games.php Since this game was hosted at the DUCOSIM games convention all visitors could play along in this great participation game. All buildings were cardboard and build by JW, as was the rest of the terrain. Mini's were a lot of different manufacturers, Hasslefree, GW, Wargames Factory and a lot of other stuff. I used 4 of my Dad's Army characters, Cpat Mainwaring (using a Big Ass Pistol), Corporal Jones (Bolt Action Rifle with bayonet), Private Pike (Tommygun SMG) and Private Godfrey with a medic-kit. Since they were all rather elderly JW decided I would move just as fast as the other...erm as the zombies.

Setting of the game: it's just after the Apocryphal outbreak of the zombie-virus and pockets of survivors are holding out against the tide of the un-dead. Armed forces strike groups are being send out to rescue them. Captain Mainwaring has decided to lend them a helping hand. From the south of the town two groups of marines and Dad's Army are entering the town in search of the survivors.

                                            A view of the table

                                             The game in progress

                                             The Marines on their way,

Dad's Army confront the zombies, they kick some dead butts at it!

Jan Willem directing the game with sheer good humour.

                                             Themarines get bogged down...

Two zombies were in the way of Dad's Army and the gunshop in which a teacher and some kiddies were hiding. Corporal Jones and Pike foolishly opened up with their guns on the zombies and about 12 more came at them. Jones went down after bravely killing 2 zombies himself and the zombies started eating him (that took them 5 turns) and the rest set off to the target.

A hefty traffic jam going on...

One of the fire teams of marines have reached their target (an old millionaire  in wheelchair and his nurse) in the manor, but the chopper they called in for evac drew crowds of zombies to them. The marines got eaten and the millionaire fled back into his house.

The zombies all went for the chopper and so Dad's Army could go silently for the gun-shop. While Pike went on overwatch, the captain started up an ambulance and Godfrey went to get the children via the back-door.

After everybody boarded, the ambulance rambled on and away. And so I won the game.

Hope you liked the report!

Cheers Sander
