more from the workbench.....

...Sanctioned Peykers this time!

Unit of 9 with an overseer. The psykers were made from High elf archer bodies (which had previously been meant to be flagellants and then bad guys in the DH RPG!) with heads from the flagellants sprue, a bretonnian archer and a zombie.
The staffs were made from various arms holding spears, etc and and the tops I thought were pretty important to define them as psykers, so I took two plastic Imperial Eagles from the Imperial vehicle sprue and stuck them back to back (to make the staffs double sided), filed them to make the join less notice-able and then used a very thin drill bit to drill into both the resulting eagle and the spear that the figure was holding! Pretty fiddly, but I'm pleased with the final result (and it meant I saved £24 on not having to buy GW psykers.....)
The overseer (who has come out a little blurry) is made from an imperial torso, legs from an Empire Free Company with long boots and the helmeted head from the Baneblade sprue. I used that head as it has some nice optical gear, which I reasoned was to help him spot the perils of the warp approaching!
The pointing arm is there as he is either warning a psyker, or pointing to one he's about to finish off. For their own good you understand....

Third post in a day - some kind of record?!?!?!?

Yep, like the proverbial London buses, none for ages then three come at once!

This one is a little one to show my WIP Penal Legion. i had intended to put the Guard away and work on something else now the tourney is done, but gish darn it, I just can't keep away from the little blighters.... So, over the next few weeks, expect to see some of the more esoteric choices from the codex coming to this webspace as I fill up on the choices that I don't currently have available.

Well, these boys are made from a mixture of Empire Flagellant bodies, heads & arms, catachan heads & arms, cadian arms and the Penal Custodian is made from the body of a Valkyrie door-gunner and arms from a cadian (head form the vehicle sprue). Expect to see them flinging themselves into danger in the hopes of earning the emperor's mercy on a tabletop near you once painted.

The Guard just got meaner!

Well Boys...here we are again....crank up the docking station and play Thin Lizzies "BOYZ ARE BACK IN TOWN" Loud!!!!!

Nice little Chimera with a cargo of 5 Ogryn and a Bone 'Ead! Nork Deddog actually! "The Wild Bunch"!
I am hoping that the snippetts of the new IG Codex means that I will have a chance of winning a game with these fellas eventually!
This should add some real meat to the reserves for the poor bloody infantry....who are still dying horribly by the way!

Next month I intend to add the last of the infantry and the Elites, along with my fast attack option...the Terminator killers!!

Steel Legion Armoured fist!

Well here we are.....last day of the month again and posting my 250 pointer for the GoG army!

I have a chimera shown here, however I intend to replace this one with a Hanomag once it arrives.

This will be in keeping with the whole WWII German theme I am following.

I will also be using another Hanomag to transport my Ogryn......gotta have them!!! New rules coming that makes them irresistable! So I also get to use my beloved original Ogryn figures, six of them!

This time around I have used a mix of GW washes on the base colours and I have also colour coded the arm badges to set the out as a different unit from the infantry Platoons.

I have also noted the "Bodyguard" entry in the sneak releases, this led me to think on using a model which I bought for my Demonhunters army 4 years ago.

WiP.....few more conversions with wysiwyg on the officers and their trademark items.
Next month a peek at these trademark items and the biker gangs "Rough riders".

The Demolisher hits town!!

Well guys, after much deliberation I came up with my next choice weghing in at 220 points we have the Imperial Guards famed Demolisher (Tiger I variant).

This little baby has extra armour, track guards, hull mounted Lascannon and sponson mounted (Turret variany) plasma cannons.

The Track guards or side skirts are just plastic card while the hull mount is a cut down Lascannon with sprue cut to represent the housing for it. A bit more green stuff and we're good to go!

Here she is with another tank hunter of the unit! Hopefully lending some welcome backup for the poor foot sloggers!!

Skin of my Teeth!

Well after last month, I thought this month would be a darn site easier! Well.....it wasn't, mainly bacause of problems with the conversion on the Tiger I. This I sadly had to scrap as the additional parafanalia (spelling!) made it look like a small childs toy....

so back to the basics and only a couple of additions, troops riding desant, a tank commander and a hull mounted Heavy Bolter, this should add a much needed battle cannon as well.

The Command HQ has 4 Plasma Guns and a Heroic Senior officer, I toyed with the idea of a trademark item, which I may still add later, but decided to stick to the basics

My defensive Guard army is looking more and more like it's becoming an assault army every month.....

There we go for now! Next month, here I cooooome!!

next month 40 conscripts with 4 flamers and a Commissar to lead them!!

30 Nov 2008

Woo hoooooo 500 pts finished!

Well guys I must admit that it's been a real struggle to find the enthusiasm for this project, however, now I have put the finishing touches to my Valhallan 342nd Regt. 10th co. 1st Veteran platoon I am back on the money.

My other addition is my Hellhound, this nice little piece can lay waste to swathes of horde armies on it's own!

Oh okay, who am I kidding right, they're Guard for Emporers sake, the butt of all jokes to do with getting arses kicked!

I want to change that, if I can...the last few games have seen mixed results, some of the bad ones will go down to a steep learning curve while some of the others are just down to the scariness of the opposing army and it being on me in 1 turn.......poor Guardsmen!

Still...next month sees my HQ choice with 4 Plasma Guns and a Tiger variant of the Leman Russ. Now this should kick butt!!

I hope!! ;-)
