Estate Sale Shopping

Today Steve and I went and did a little estate sale shopping. We arrived a few minutes before 8:00, there was already a huge line waiting to get in. As you could imagine the inside of the house was crazy, not a huge house and a bunch of people in a state of panic worried someone was gonna find something neat before them.
Steve and I split up, I told him to go one way, I'd go the other. I headed for the kitchen (which was tiny and already packed with people). Up in a cabinet I spotted something, there were a few people between me and what I was aiming for, I could hear a woman beside me telling her husband to get them. I thought to myself no way, those are mine so I made my way to the cabinet and saw the price and that even made me happier! I got a 3 pc Homer Laughlin Co. (Apple tree/Orange tree pattern) nesting bowls from the 1930's for $18. They are in pretty much perfect shape. How exciting!

We also bought a bunch of old souvenir pennants.

Driving home we came upon a yard sale, found this neat thing which would be great for someone's mud room for $3. Of course it needs a good cleaning and some paint and a few new hooks.

We didn't find as much as I would have liked to but we had a fun day, guess that's all that matters. :) I hope tomorrow afternoon we can go put our finds in the antique mall and maybe do a little rearranging in our booth.

Ready for Spring

I'm so ready for Spring, I think all the birds are too! The Robin in the pictures below must be new to the area because I tell ya he/she walked all around the yard, flew in about every tree around, sunned on the picnic table a while, I guess it's making sure this is the place it wants to call home.

Last year on March 1st we got snow, go here to see, now our weather forecast for Monday or Tuesday (which is March 1st and 2nd) is for a chance of snow. We'll see. I have noticed looking at the pictures of the March 1st, 2009 snow that our pear trees were all bloomed out pretty, this year they are just starting to bud, you can see the picture in the post below, the blue bird is sitting in one of those pear trees, no blooms yet.

Saturday

Well, the snow has came and went. I will admit I did not want any of it but after seeing everyone else's pictures and hearing of all the fun they had playing in it I am jealous. It did snow here yesterday, probably about 5 hours, but we had no accumulation, it melted as soon as it hit the ground. Everyone to our South got it this time, which is odd, normally it goes just to our North.
I did see a pretty sight yesterday during the snow fall , the picture isn't great but there were a pair of blue birds on one of the pear trees in our front yard, the birds were a beautiful sight, but for me so were the buds on the pear trees. Ahhhhhh Spring is on it's way, believe me it could never arrive enough for me. I am counting down the days until March 14th and Daylight Saving Time begins.

Today Molly is running a little fever which really worries me, for the moment after giving her a tylenol it has gone away. I will keep a very close eye on her and if there isn't a change for the better I guess we'll be making a trip to Birmingham Monday, of course we'll go to a local doc or ER before then if we have to.

We submitted our offer on the house Wednesday, still no word. I guess no news is good news, maybe.

Contract

Tomorrow is "contract / make offer" day on the house. Things are still sorta iffy about the land but that's why we have contracts for that sort of thing.
Everyone keep your fingers crossed. If all goes well and we do get it there is going to be tons of work but I think it'll be fun and it'll be something we'll really be proud of, once everything is finished.

Comments

I hate it when I visit my blog to see if I have any new comments to discover I do, I get excited (because I don't always get a lot of them) then I see it's just spam or something in some language I can't even read. Heck I even had a new follower the other day, wooohooo I thought, until I saw the profile picture, yeah...a topless one! Go figure.
