The Hobbit, The Desolation of Smaug New Miniatures from GamesWorkshop


GamesWorkhop is releasing a new crop of Citadel Finecast figures for The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug. As of this post they are available for pre-order. You can get them from your local retailer or directly from the GameWorkshop site.

First up is a new Beorn figure included in a set with his Bear form. The kit has 7 components with which to make Beorn the man and Beor the Bear.

Beorn makes his home on the outskirts of Mirkwood. He is a skin-changer, a man with the ability to change his form into that of a bear. In the struggle against evil, Beorn is a mighty force for good.

Thranduil the Elvenking is always vigilant and understandably suspicious when strangers pass into his domain.

A dark power is gathering strength in Dol Guldur and as the ruler of Mirkwood Thranduil and his elves are on their guard.

Captains of Gundabad are the most sturdy and ruthless Orcs in the Misty Mountains. They are the warriors the greatest Orc warlords surround themselves with.

Gundabad Orc Swordsman are regimented and trained to a high standard. This makers them bloody-minded and powerful fighters.

Or if you prefer brutal soldiers whose reserves of strength and resilience are without limit... 
the Gundabad Orc Spearman are for you. These hated foes of the Dwarves have spent many years and lives waging war against them.

Both of the Citadel Finecast kits contain 6 components with which to make 3 Gundabad Orc Swordsman or 3 Gundabad Orc Spearman.

And last but not least is Girion, Lord of Dale. Girion is a mighty king, much beloved by his people. He is determined to defend Dale at all costs from the coming of Smaug the Terrible.

Speaking of costs, the Gundabad Orc sets will run you 25 USD and 15 for the Orc Captain. Thranduil and Girion will shave 20 USD out of your wallet and the Beorn and Bear set will retail for 50 USD.

You can now pre-order new Hobbit, The Desolation of Smaug figures from Games Workshop. All of the New Releases from Citadel Finecast are resin kits. As of this posting no release date is available.

Known by many names in the tongues of Men, Elves and Dwarves, Gandalf the Grey is a Wizard who has travelled the length and breadth of Middle-earth. His involvement in the quest to Erebor is mysterious and conceals an important purpose beyond that of helping the Dwarves recover their treasure.

The heir of kings, Bard the Bowman is a humble warrior in the militia of Lake-town. He patrols the shoreline around his Lake-town home, ensuring his people remain safe from the evil at their doorstep.

This resin kit comes in 2 components with which to make Bard the Bowman armed with a bow and dagger.

Though prone to long-winded speeches and flatulence, the Master of Lake-town is a wise, charismatic and capable leader.

The Lake-town Guard keep a watchful eye out for unwelcome intruders and are tasked with protecting the Lake-men from their enemies. As well as standing sentry and maintaining patrols, the Lake-town Guard are also enforcers of the Master of Lake-town’s rule.

This expansion provides a wealth of supplemental rules, which recreate the events of the film on your tabletop. This 64-page, full colour, softback expansion for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey includes:

Beorn is the burly "skin changer" woodsman whose home is on the outskirts of Mirkwood. Beorn has the power to adopt the form of a bear that he so uncannily resembles.

The kit contains 3 components with which to make Beorn armed with a two-handed axe.

Thranduil, King of Mirkwood is a mighty king whose realm faces a dire threat in the rising power of the Necromancer of Dol Guldur. Beset from all sides, Thranduil maintains a vigilant guard upon his realm.

The resin kit contains 2 components with which to make Thranduil armed with an Elven blade.

Barrels out of Bond literally contains the Dwarves of Thorin’s Company making their escape from the dungeons of Thranduil by hiding in the barrels and floating down the Forest River.

This resin kit contains 15 components with which to make Barrels out of Bond, containing all thirteen Dwarves of Thorin’s Company, and Bilbo Baggins™.

Travelling through Mirkwood is a perilous undertaking. Mirkwood Rangers show no fear for they are hunters without peer and deadly warriors one and all.

The contents of this box contains 23 components with which to make 10 Mirkwood Rangers, of which 5 are male and 5 are female. You can tell them apart, particularly by the fact that the female Elves have the curved bows.

Each miniature is made in a fixed pose, and they are designed to look like skirmishers. Each model is armed with a bow and daggers.


As always, all of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug kits come unpainted and require assembly.
