Prussian Scrunts VII

Painting progress has been very slow this year, but today I managed to complete something new, the Scrunt with Dachshund Dogs from the Olleys Armies Dwarven Prussian Army Scrunt Miniatures Kickstarter.

As with the previously painted models in this project, the figures were block painted before being "dipped" with Army Painter Dark Tone dip.

ACW: Alternative Civil War?

I have been making some progress on my first Confederate infantry regiment over the weekend but still some way from finishing them. This Kickstarter from Ghost Train Games caught my eye as a possible concept extension, once I have the historical stuff painted.

These photos are from GTG's KS page and look really cool...

Prussian Scrunt Kaiser

The last of the Olley's Armies Scrunts for the time being, rounding off with the Kaiser.

Beautifully sculpted, I am not sure I like my Dwarves without beards, even if it does make him look like Germany's Kaiser Wilhelm. Fortunately I have a second Kaiser miniature which I may add a Green Stuff beard to for a more traditional looking leader....

Prussian Scrunts VI

Continuing with the Scrunts, I managed to finish the command group this lunchtime. I say finish, I haven't decided on a flag design yet, but aside from that my Imperial troops now have an officer, trumpeter and standard bearer to lead them into battle against the rebels...

Prussian Scrunts V

A couple more of the Scrunts, this time an infantryman with stick grenade and a sniper...

Prussian Scrunts IV

Continuing with the Olley's Armies Prussian Scrunt Kickstarter figures, I finished a couple more figures, a Scrunts with messenger pigeon and a unique "green" that KS pledgers received if they pledged over a certain amount.

A few more Scrunts pretty much finished and are now just awaiting basing, so expect some more in the next few days.

Prussian Scrunts III

I spent most of this afternoon trying to install my Mother's new printer on her pre-Babbage PC (does anyone else still use Vista?), but I did manage to grab a little time this morning to finish the Olley's Armies Prussian Scrunt Generals set.

Really pleased with these and how they came out using the dip, they make a nice little vignette...

Prussian Scrunts II

I managed to finish a couple more of the Olley's Armies Prussian Scrunts today, a mechanic and a medic. I used the same dip technique as the other figures, though I am contemplating putting some paint chips and rust on the mechanics tool box...

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with these, but now have had an idea to combine them with the original Victorian Steampunk Scrunts (currently hiding in Lead Mountain) for some kind of Victorian Dwarf Steampunk Civil War loosely inspired by the German Civil War with Imperials v Communists.

Prussian Scrunts I

I finished the first batch of Olley's Armies Prussian Scrunts at lunchtime...

I have started with the basic infantry types and am pleased with the way they have come up using the Army Painter Dark Tone dip. As previously mentioned I undercoated the figures grey, then basecoated the rifles, helmets, cuffs etc, painting the faces and beards dark brown before painting on the dip.

Once this had dried I applied a coat of Testors Dullcote before painting the faces and drybrushing most of the beards with a lighter brown or sand (one I repainted black and drybrushed grey for some variation).

I think they have come up nice enough given the time spent on them and hopefully can grab some more time to finish the others.

Vorwärts Prussian Scrunts! Vorwärts!

Earlier in the year I took part in the Olley's Armies Prussian Scrunt (Dwarf) Kickstarter and they arrived yesterday. Pondering overnight about this new addition to Lead Mountain, I decided I was going to do something drastic and try and get them painted before the end of the year!

They are lovely figures, a bit on the large size compared to other Dwarves and I have no idea what I am going to do with them, but today I based up half and dug out a can of grey spray to basecoat them. Subsequently I have managed to add some more colours in preparation for the dreaded dip come Sunday....

Scruntpunk!

The good news is that Bob Olley's Steampunk Scrunt Kickstarter has now exceeded its funding target. The GREAT news is that the Kickstarter includes Scrunt Steampunk vehicles!

The photos from the KS page are works-in-progress (the Dwarves need arms and in one case legs) but surely they are this year's must have wargames accessory?!

Steampunk Scrunts...

I don't need this kind of temptation...

(I've wanted to do steampunk fantasy for years inspired by Castle Falkenstein).
