Walter Bauer Restaurant *One Michelin Star*, Vienna

Bauer is an unpretentious fine dining in Vienna specialising in Austrian cuisine
even its entrance was pretty modest but trust me, do not judge a book by its cover
*I've learnt that lesson hard all the time in life*

getting recommendations for restaurants in Vienna ain't easy
we pretty much have to do it ourselves coz not many of our friends been to this part of the world
thank goodness, we have one Sporean friend aka Alex C who recommended a few good places for us to explore

half the fun of goin to a restaurant in a foreign country is locating it
100% of the time we alwiz managed to find the restaurant but it was the journey through it that made us skeptical

well who would have thought that u need to walk through alleys and lanes full of graffitis
especially lonely ones like this?
but we didn't mind coz Vienna is extremely super SAFE
afterall it was placed at world No. 1 for having the best quality of life
so when u have such high standard in terms of quality everything matters

the restaurant is very intimate and cozy with warm colors
as usual we were the only Asian in this place...
*we hardly find that many Asian tourists in this part of the world coz everyone just tend to flock to the more famous cities like Paris*
**yaaaayy!!! tickets to Paris booked for November :)))))**

I really like their digital clock
Es ist funf vor halb Neun = it will be 5 before half past eight
it's German
so it kept on changing digitally and it took us some time before we understand that this is a clock
:P sorry we are from Kampung Malaysia!!!!

JS was luffing and mocking me *as usual..*
with his "hihihihihihihihihihihi"
-_-
after 3 months, I kinda forgotten wat he was luffing at

sorry I am still catching up on my postings from Vienna and Budapest
>.< time flies man...and before I know it, August is here

Austrians lurve malty bread
good thing was there's not much hassle on bread selection
coz sometimes if u have the whole big bread cart wheeling out, u know that u have to kill some brain cells to make ur selections and endure the explaination by the waiter.
not that I loathed it, it's just that I don't like to pile on bread
but at the same time, I lurved to be pampered with choices and selections
told ya women are complicated beings :P
the amuse bouche was a very yummy high quality austrian sausage
served with a grand cru mustard
well dun forget we are in sausage-land
hahahhahahahahahaha

so pretty!!!
pan seared goose liver with lychee and onions with fried bread

foie gras alwiz have to go with something sweet to cut into those rich taste
I believe we need cholesterol pills to cut into all those ....er.....hehehehhee

it was very well done in terms of execution and flavours
there's some sweet reduction on top of the liver that's so syrupy and yummy

next we had the fillet of fish with parsnip and spinach
I kinda forgotten wat fish it was but it's really juicy and fat but the taste was so balanced with the green taste from the spinach puree at the bottom

JS's glass was so dirty
he has got dirty messy lips :P
wuahahahahahah

these are really nice glasses
Vitis series from one and only Riedel
by the way do u know that Riedel is an Austrian company???
producer of high quality crystal wine glasses, and still owned and run by the same family for the past 250 years!!!!

we were so tempted to buy all the glassware but then how do u carry them home?
anyway out of desperation and vanity I bought really nice vases from an unknown brand
hand carried them all the way home to Malaysia only to have one of it broken
:"(((((( it's not something expensive - only Euro 9 but it's the design that u can't get back at home
will blog bout this broken vase soon :"(((

Pike Perch cheeks with bacon bits and leeks
Perch fish is a lake fish, the first time I had it was in Switzerland next to the lake where it was caught

this fish doesn't taste like ur usual lake fish found in Malaysia
it has a delicate sweetness innit

Laguiole knives
nothing less :)))

collecting knives are also part of JS's hobby
we have a few unopened Laguiole sets at home
maybe he'll use them when he decided to turn psycho and use them on me
hahahahahahha :D:D:D
yes when he decided he had enuff of me
but hey since there's a few sets, we can used it upon each other
:P
most of his knives set cost the same of one of my handbag
another expensive hobby -_-

such sharp knives are meant to cut through meat like this :))))
that piece of grilled chili with olives outshone the meat :P
coz it was so sweet!!!!
sacher torte
do u know that sacher torte aka chocolate cake was invented here in Austria?
:)))))))))
after such a satisfying meal, we walked back to our hotel with joy and contentment
that's the spire of Stephandsom
*click here to read bout our journey inside and up Stephandsom*

Bauer is highly recommended if you would like to try authentic Austrian cuisine, after all it's the best restaurant in this category.
well I believe when u travel, u need to go with an open mind and try everything that's local

Mumok Museum, Vienna

Mumok = Museum Moderner Kunst
basically it means Museum of Modern Art

this was in our itinerary of must visit
there were tonnes of good museums in Vienna so we had to choose only those important ones to visit
u practically spend one whole week visiting all of its amazing museums
the external part of the building is pretty raw
and so was inside....
separated into a few levels, made entirely from glass and steel I felt like we were in a space ship
with its see through floor like the above just made me quivered
I was pretty mesmerized with its glass and steel lift
but it was still a scary ride....goin up and down innit
JS was all happy esp when he gets to see me terrified
we were required to wear a grey MUMOK tag so we can just hang around in the compound
I lurve it so much that I took it home :P

this museum proves to be different from the rest
housing works from the famous Andy Warhol *it is currently on exhibition in Marina Bay Sands*
Joseph Beuys, Nam June Paik, Roy Lichtenstein
nvm if you are not familiar with these famous names
soon u'll see their works here...on this blog :P
hmmmm......that's a huge saw!!!!!
and it looked so real
not only it can saw ur head off but almost every part of ur body
:P hehehehehehehehe
that's a very 60's ashtray in black marble
I remembered my home having one of those when I was lil gal
now that I've put myself next to it for comparison
that's one of a mother ashtray :P

different pieces of arts using different medium

aaaahhh I can't reach for the switch mom!!!!!

dunno wat it is?

now u get it????
hehehehe it's fun to look at each piece and then try to interpret them
I like how each articles were grouped according to medium and artists
in such huge space
can u spot that huge piece of cake at the far end???
hehehehehhehehehe
alamak JS....these art pieces are made from cardboxes...
if u gonna wee wee on it....it's gonna be GONE!!!!!
STOP!!!!!
I have no idea wat these were
and the description in german ain't helping me...
later JS told me these were 2 pin sockets/plugs

I came for this Mickey Mouse with red heart by Claes Oldenburg
this famous sculpture did most of the huge pieces of everyday objects
when Mickey misbehaved he get this paperbag hood by the police
I lurve it so much
if only they have it for sale at the souvenir shop
:((((((
this is so big it's enuff to brush my oven!!!!!!
later we walked through the Pop Art
the ladder as part of the art pieces
not that some workers left it there :P

that human standing right in front of this piece is not part of the exhibition
"Car Crash" by Andy Warhol
OK ok ok I must must must attend the exhibition by Mr. Warhol in Singapore soon
LOVE rising by Robert Indiana
L.O.V.E.
:)))))))))))))))

wanna have coffee with me???

or get chased by a huge electric blue tarantula??
hmmm guess we were the only visitor posing with art pieces
:P
so Malaysian hahahahaha

we saw many art students were doing case study, painting and drawing
and working adults visiting this place during lunch break
wat a way of life
no wonder Vienna was voted World No. 1 for the best quality of life
later we went down to the basement
art classes are conducted here
teaching u on the different medium and colors
since it was lunch break, no one was here...we just loitered around
looking at canvases by other wannabe art students :P
there's also a nice lounge at the basement with natural lights for visitors
lots of art books
if I'm Austrian, I can imagine coming here during lunch hour
*JS said more like me goin shopping on that famous street during lunch hour -_-*
Berr was here!!!!!
:)))))))))))

totally worth spending a nice afternoon here
and there's 6 more museums at this quarter from contemporary, art noveau to classical and impressionism.

Prada Saffiano Lux Tote

isn't the color so candy lolly-liked?
this was my latest bag purchase back in end March in Vienna, Austria

so I've been without a new bag for the past 2 months!!! *April and May*
bravo bravo...it's a feat coz I have finally moved out from the jinx of one new bag each month

it started out with an iphone cover at the boutique
that was the initial mission
then my eyes darted to the arrays of merchandise in Spring colors

while the credit card transaction was goin thru for the iphone cover, Monkey selected a Peonia colored name card holder
-_-"
I was grinning to the Sales Associate and she had to do another transaction
:P

u know it's a dangerous game to wait inside such a nice boutique
or maybe it's just their tactics to take their own sweet time processing the transaction
giving us shoppers more time to browse..

and from a small tiny iphone cover purchase to name card holder
I landed myself this bag
:D:D:D
yeah I know...I sooo hate myself too :P
Lurve this color so much I even had my nails painted in it :D:D:D
and now I m suppressing myself fr the urge to get any bags
let's see how long this can last...I've broken the record of 2 months :)))))

I think I need a new hobby/interest
let's not even suggest jewelries ok???
