Complex Progression

It has been a while, but I finally figured out the walls of my Complex board. I went with a white hexagon pattern over grey and off white. I think it turned out really well. However, I am now stuck on what to do for the floor. Also, I have to figure out a transition between the floor and wall, because the straight jump isn't working. Also, it would give me more strength to hold the walls on. Well, back to the grind, I have 10 boards with finished walls, the hard ones are left. I hope to update with some progress soon.
If anyone has any ideas for the floor, please drop them in the comments, thanks.

The Return of Leveticus

I only played a single game last Saturday, but it was of Malifaux. Well, half a game anyway. I played a demo game versus Shea, who has finally come over to the dark side. He is looking at Arcanists and has already picked up the Mechanical Rider. As such, I had him play my Ramos crew, with the Rider, basically the new box set. I pulled out Leveticus. I drug my feet a bit to get this one started, I have been in a bit of a Malifaux slump lately. We played Turf War with no schemes. I mostly wanted to go through mechanics, and we had a limited play window. It did mean I ran a demo instead of participating in Paint Night, but we did have a few painters on site. There isn't much strategy or reporting, as we only finished two turns, but I will say that I was definitely revitalized by the game. I will likely be pulling out Leveticus again very soon. I do need to read through his finalized cards and get into that frame of mind, also looking at some of the other options I can take with him.

Well, a short one this week. I do expect to have some hobby progress later in the week, as I should have my 300 points of Infinity completed. After that I plan to work on the Corridor board, and hope to put some of that up. Yeah, the Corridor board, haven't seen that in a while. I think the last time we saw that was here. My plan for the wall didn't work out, so I am looking at other ideas/options. Hopefully that will work and I can post that. If not.... Skip it, I'm lighting them on fire.

A brand new Lava Board

I have been working on some textured mats for playing Malifaux and terrain to go with them. This is my second mat, but the first one complete with matching terrain.
The process is fairly easy, and it took me longer to paint the lava flows than it did to make the textured mat itself. I already have an ice mat and am prepping to make a cobblestone one. Once I get terrain on these, I will be able to take them to Genghiscon for the Malifaux tournament there. After that, the plan is to sell some of them under my CWTerrainworks banner.

OTT: Infinity isn't so long

"Those aren't Infinity models!" How very astute of you. They are in fact not. I manage to put the black on a Dakini, but when I got home, the Garuda's leg had broken off, again. So, while I was cleaning off the old glue, his other leg came off, then one of his arms, at which point I laughed hysterically, freaked my kids a little, and put them all aside. I don't know what it is about infinity models, but they just don't stay glued. At least not for me. I am still working on my terrain, but have moved onto the remainder of my Hellions as far as models go.

OTT: Finite Infinities

What the hell is that crap? OMG, its Infinity. That is correct, folks. I am going to paint up my Infinity models. Mostly they are just starting to bother me. They are incredibly fragile, and I want them out of my carry case and in the display case so I don't have to repair them any more.


I am also working on ladders. Wait, no I'm not.

OH, that right, they are the details for the walls on my Infinity board. Yeah, you thought that was never gonna see the light of day again. Well, it can, from the dark corner I keep them in across from the window. Barely. I have a couple sections complete, enough to show one side of the hall. I am thinking of painting the base all black, then going up through grey for the three layers of these pieces. I hope to give plenty of depth where there really isn't any so that it won't affect play. I also think they kinda look like pillars which fits the whole Greek theme of Aleph and the actual pillars already in parts of the board. I am taking the one table section with the new card wall bits for second opinions this Saturday.

I hope to have the Garuda ready for paint for Saturday, when I will be painting all my Aleph at Paint Night. Look forward to seeing you all there.

The Table

Due to a sever lack of projects on my part, I have decided to add another. What am I thinking? Not a clue. There has been a 4'x4' board partially started just sitting at the club since long before my time. It is a tiered board, with a couple caves, and the start to a river. Originally I was going to put a vote in the forums to decide what type of board it should be, grass, desert, or snow. I went to mention this to Shaffer and he just in passing called it the cave board and an idea was born. An underground cavern(as opposed to an above ground one). This board will have stalactites and stalagmites and various other rock formations. I have yet to decide if it will have man made lighting(i.e. torches) or not. I will be keeping the river, only countersinking it into the board as opposed to the current raised bank.

This will likely be an-at-the club project, as I have no intention of bringing it home. I may also swipe some club funds for features from the store, as this will be a club table. I also should be working on Malifaux tables at home, so more terrain there would be bad.

I plan to post my progress, though I may move it to the KoGT blog, as it will be a club project.

Since I can't seem to get in a game on it, I thought I would post some shots of my graveyard board in all its completed glory.

Peak has started at work and my progress has slowed substantially, but I have managed to make progress on my hanging tree and my bayou board, though I wanted the bayou board to be done this weekend. I need to pick up the pace. Weather isn't helping, as the low temperatures will make spraying difficult.

I think I will start digging into the graveyard board next. Pun not intended, but I will definitely take it.

Road to the con 2012

Well, not looking like there is going to be a State of the 'faux this week. Tim has a Magic tournament and John, or anyone else, is a no show. So, while I wanted to reveal my mountain table in a game shot, here it is.
I also discovered I am a lot farther than I thought. My Bayou board is up to paint. I only needed 3 pieces, I added 3 tents and a campfire. Half the trees are done, I just need to paint the rest, the tents, and the fire and that one will be ready as well. I also have my bushes done for the Boomtown board, I think I will dig into it next.
I also came into a bunch of model bits, these are going towards a steam punk workshop board, which is to replace the Ten Kingdoms board. I hope it will be good.

Road to the con 2012

With just 82 days left to Genghiscon, I only have 1 table close to done. Aaaahhhh! Ok, I'm done freaking. Maybe. Anyway, my mountain board is mostly done. I have painted the bases since the picture was taken, and plan to add snow later today.


I have also finished my hanging tree up to moss, now I just need to find some. I also have 7 graves sculpted. I need to add some masaleums and get some fence. That board needs 10 more pieces, so I will see what I add.
Well, back to the stone.

Building Boomtown!

So, its been a while since I posted here, been busy with the Knights of the Gaming tables blog and forum, though I haven't posted on that blog in a while either. Any-who, I have started work on my Boomtown board. The above is my first building, and I plan to add a few more. The next will be an almost copy, and I plan to put up a WIP/tutorial here for people to see. I then hope to follow it up with an Inn of a much larger scale. They all will have removable roofs, but the Inn will have 2 floors. It should be challenging. Check back for more.
