INQUISITOR - Power Armor comes in ALL shapes and sizes

I had time over February to paint up another two models for the ongoing Inquisitor commission that has now entered its second year. I chose two models that differed in size and detail, but were both armored and loyal to the Imperium.

The first is Brother Hexanchus of the Deathwatch (formerly of the Carcharadons).

This is, of course, the Brother Artemis model, with a slightly tweaked scheme.

I painted on the Carcharadon symbol, and his name - which comes from the scientific name of a pre-historic shark.

And painted a shark-tooth campaign badge on his knee.

The second model was this (as yet un-named) daemon-hunting Inquisitor, hauling around a fresh kill.

I hope you like these as much as the client. He'll take delivery of these at AdeptiCon.

INQUISITOR - Aliens, Gladiators, and Enforcers!

As I was bundling up some of the Inquisitor models to send off to my client, I realized I hadn't posted the December batch (I took a little break from the 54mm goodness in the months prior to December). So, without further ado, here they are.

Krashrak the Stalker is an alien who is also a bounty hunter. I went for a fairly straightforward color scheme for this guy, the neutral and desaturated tones giving him a fairly barbaric feel.

Krieger 'Krash' Thrax is a Chrono-gladiator - massively bulky with two claws that will kill anything they close around. I really get the impression that he'd be able to soak up a lot of damage while he waits to deliver one blow on target, but that he'd only need that one blow.

And finally, a second Enforcer. This one was a Specialist Games alternative sculpt/conversion of Barbaretta, who I painted earlier (HERE). I think they'll work well together : )

INQUISITOR - Two sides of the same coin?

Thanks for bearing with me through these busy times. So much to do that often there isn't a moment to be posting on this blog or browsing through the wonderful blogs of others.

I wanted to make sure that my client had a chance to check out these models before I posted the, and now that he has seen them, I can reveal the latest two Inquisitor models to you.

The first is Inquisitor Covenant, one of the coolest Jes Goodwin sculpts ever, and certainly a lynchpin in the original releaseof the game and miniatures range. I've copied the Studio paint job here, and I think it's quite interesting how it highlights the variety within the Inquisition. While Witch Hunter Tyrus is all kinds of bold and brash in his gold armor, Covenant is much more reserved, but no less Inquisitorial, in his black stormcoat and deep red armor.

Facing off against Covenant this month is this Chaos Magus. My client gave me free rein on this one. I was allowed to pick the god that he would follow, and any conversions that might entail. I had already decided on Tzeentch (thanks to the prompting of a few friends) and was about to start work on him when the photos of Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower started to drop. I loved the look of the Magus in there, so I went to town. The helmet is sculpted from scratch, putty over vanes of plasticard (see below). When it came to painting him, I knew I wanted to keep him nice and bright and skirting the boundaries of garish. I hope I've hit that mark : )

I'm not sure when I'll get to the Cultists to go with him, but rest assured that they will also be inspired by the Silver Tower models.

INQUISITOR - Some of the Henchmen.

An Inquisitor can't do everything by themselves, and sometimes the things they need others to do are particularly unsavory. Enter the demonic, the dangerous, and the downright dastardly.

To be honest, though, I can't reminder all of their backstories, so it's possible that Slick isn't dastardly at all, but I'm sure Churabael is considerably daemonic, and that Damien 1427 is completely dangerous!

Churabael, Bound Daemonhost

Damien 1427, Arco-Flagellant

Slick Devlan, Gunslinger

INQUISITOR - The Cult!

My INQUISITOR commission is still underway. Here are the two minis I delivered at the end of March - a Genestealer Magus and a Purestrain Genestealer.

It was pretty crazy timing that I started working on these just before the Deathwatch Overkill board game was released by GW. I decided to go with color schemes directly from the game, and was informed by the many images of the Cult.

I hope you like them : )

INQUISITOR - Witch Hunter Tyrus and Hive Ganger Talon

I realized this morning that I'd forgotten to post up these two additions to the Inquisitor commission. Tyrus is the poster boy for Inquisitor, appearing on the cover of the book as he does. For this depiction I decided to go a bit brighter and bolder than his cover image.

Although h has a very "Catachan" aesthetic about him, I decided to avoid any green in his color scheme, which led to a bit more of a utilitarian, grungy look - perfect for Hive Ganger Talon : )

INQUISITOR - Severina & Sevora

It has been a crazy busy couple of weeks. With Winter Storm Jonas dumping 30" of snow on Baltimore in a day and all the distractions that come with that (my eldest daughter has been off school for the last eight days!), and my wife's birthday I have sadly been unable to get much done on my Titan.

I have been able to finish this month's Inquisitor commission, however.

First up are the twin death cultists, Severina and Sevora.

INQUISITOR - Barbaretta

Here's the second completed model from the Inquisitor commission - Barbaretta and her faithful/programmed hound. I like working with metals so the hound was pretty straightforward. Barbaretta's black jumpsuit was the fun task on this one. To add a little extra something, I mixed P3 Coal Black into the highlight mix I used. I think it gives it a nice depth, and the greenish tinge works well with the red stripes.

I think I might try Tyrus next.

INQUISITOR - Quovandius

I've finished up the first couple of miniatures from the Inquisitor commission. The first one to show off is the mutant Quovandius (and his two-headed rat).

I particularly liked painting up the dismembered doll.

More to come : )

INQUISITOR - The box arrives!

A new, long-term, slow-burn commission has arrived in my bunker. Over the next who-knows-how-many months, I'll be building and painting what appears to be almost the entire range of GW's 2000 release, Inquisitor.

First on the docket are Barbaretta and Quovandius...
