Card Design: Ike's World Challenge #14...Everything Easter

Good morning everyone.  It is time to share the new Ike's World Challenge.  This fortnight the theme is Everything Easter.  It is hard to believe but Easter will be here in just a few very short weeks.  It will be here and gone before I even have time to plan for it!  Boy that is going to be a busy time for us in the Décosse household.  It is my birthday the day before on the Saturday, then Easter on Sunday, then we have Easter Monday, the hub's birthday on the Tuesday and then 10 days later, we celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary!  Sheesh.  I better get planning NOW!  At least I now have the Easter cards ready for our surrogate 'nieces'.  During the Tic Tac Toe Challenge, I created JoJo's card/tag and now it is time for JuJu's.

Remember, you can join in Ike's challenge with a creation using any kind of medium or style but in order to qualify to win the prize you MUST use an Ike's Art image. You can find some fab ones in the store HERE.  There is also a freebie available over on the challenge blog that you can use to enter the challenge but please be respectful of the artist's rights and do not post, pin or share the image with anyone else. Instead, if you know some people who might like it, send them over to the challenge blog so they can pick it up for themselves.

 Here is my project...

Digital Image Details:
  • Chikkin:  I got the opportunity to use another fabulous image from Ike's line of Krazy Kritterz.  You can find it in the 'Animals' section of the Ike's Art store or by clicking on the watermark below.
    • I have coloured this image with Copic markers.  Crown/beak/gullet/feet:  Y17, YR04, YR07.  Body: Y32, Y35, Y38.  Brown areas: E21, E23, E25.
  • Those fabulous eggs 'in' the basket are from Romiposer11 available in the Eggs1 Easter in Love 2013 kit.  This is an incredible artist and you can find their creations on their blog HERE. The eggs look so real, don't they?!  If I didn't know any better, I'd swear they weren't made of paper!
http://romiposer.blogspot.ca/
Digital  Sentiment:
  • I repeated the sentiment I used for JoJo's card/tag--a great one from Tracey Brossart.  Head to her blog, BrossArt Addiction, to find more fabulous free sentiments.  I also chose to ink in the scallop and add the faux stitching, and add chalk to enhance the sentiment, once again to match the first one I did.  However, in terms of the chalk, it is a light green that doesn't really show up all that well in the pic.
Paper Products:
  • The green paper I used for the basket is from Michael's Recollection's cardstock, South Beach Collection.
Electronic Die Cut Cartridge:
  • Cricut Create A Critter cartridge.
Embossing Folder:
  • The basket was embossed with a Cricut, Paper Lace II embossing folder.
Challenges I am hoping to enter...

Here are the card/tags side by side.  I think they have enough elements the same to show continuity but that each girl will receive something unique.

What will you create using one of Ike's wonderful images?  Pop over and play along with us anytime during the next two weeks over at Ike's World Challenges. You can find out everything you need to know in order to play, by heading to the challenge blog.  I've linked the logo below to take you there.  While you are over there, please be sure to check out the incredible creations offered up by some of my fellow DT members and be sure to pop over there again next week when the second team's projects are showcased to help inspire you.
Until next time,

Card Design: From the Heart Stamps November Challenge

Holy Lord love a duck I am cutting it close with this month's entry.  With just under nine hours to go, I'm definitely pushing it.  I'm not feeling the greatest today which certainly isn't helping the situation so on that note I better get on with it.

It is time to post my card for the From the Heart Stamps progressive stamp of the month challenge.   In order to enter this challenge, you must either have received the latest image by having participated in the previous month or you can buy the stamp for the current month's challenge.  Everyone who enters and follows the rules is a winner because you automatically get the stamp for the next month's challenge.  Stop by the site and check out the rules for yourself.  While you are there, have a look around.  They have some really great images.  Below you will find the card I'm entering for the November challenge.

Here are my card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Information:
  • I've gone pretty clean and simple for this one and created another one layer card.

FRONT
Digital Images:
  • The image on the front, Balloon Ride, is available for purchase over at From the Heart Stamps.  Click HERE or on the watermark below to go to its location in the store.
    • The image has been coloured with Copic markers.
http://fromtheheartstamps.com/shop/cute-mice/102-balloon-ride.html
  • Those awesome balloons at the bottom of the front are a precoloured image from Romiposer 11.  It has been awhile since I've worked with her products and I miss it.  She graciously allows me to create freebies as long as they are PUO only and the last ones I think I created were at Easter.  It was wonderful to use some of her creations in this card.
Digital Sentiments:
  • 'Happy, happy, happy' is from the set of FTHS that we received this month.  These sets are so great because you always get at least a sentiment or two that work with the image(s).

INSIDE
Digital Images:
  • Yup, I went balloon crazy in this one.  These balloons are from the same set that I used for the front of the card.  If you are unfamiliar with Romiposer 11's work, you should really check it out.
Digital Sentiments:
  • 'Celebrate in a Big Way' is also from the FTHS set.
  • The 'Happy Birthday To You' sentiment is from the ever generous Paulette of Create with TLC.  Click HERE to go to Paulette's blog and HERE to go to the store.

Thanks for popping by everyone!

Card Design: Lady Anne's Progressive Christmas Challenge #5-Second Card

Here is my second card for the Lady Anne's Progressive Christmas ChallengeIf you want to see all the preamble from the previous post related to this challenge and the sponsor, you can go HERE.

Here are the card and a few details. As I mentioned in the first post, I am unable to provide my usual level of detail due to time constraints.  If you want to know anything specific, you'll have to ask.

FRONT

Digital Image:
  • The heart stamp was the one we were given to use in the progressive challenge.  It is from Eureka Stamps.  Coloured digitally.  It is ridiculous the amount of time I spent colouring this image digitally and adding highlights that are impossible to see because the images are so small. I made three of them and fussy cut them all out.
Digital Sentiment:
  • Another of my holiday handouts.

INSIDE

Digital Sentiment:
  • One more of my holiday handouts I made using an image from Romiposer 11.
Challenges I hope to enter:
I may add to this list throughout the week and or month.

Well that is it for this month's Christmas cards for the LAPCC.

Fingers crossed I will be back later today with a happier and better version of a Wonderful Wednesday than the one from last week.

Until next time,

Card Design: Lady Anne's Progressive Christmas Challenge #5-First Card

Once again, it is time to submit my cards for the Lady Anne's Progressive Christmas Challenge.  This will be one of two posts.  All the preamble will be here and the next post will simply be card details.

So here we go...

Each month Lady Anne hosts a progressive Christmas Challenge where we get two images to play with.  As long as we submit a card with at least one of them, we are eligible to receive two more the next month.  Awesome arrangement.  Lady Anne will be deciding whether she continues based on how well it has gone these past several months.  My goodness, I can't believe the year is almost half over already.  Here are two more cards for the pot.  I'm now up to 10 with this challenge alone.  YaY!

This month the sponsor is

Here is my card and a few details...

General Information:
  • I am afraid that my post is not going to be up to the standard level of detail that I normally provide.  With the chaos caused from the corrupt computer file which caused the collapse of my creative haven, I am crazily trying to catch up.  Co-currently, my concentrated attempts at cleaning, and re-constructing things to comply with my preceding standards of conduct have left me with crushing time constraints and I am seriously about to crack (he, he, just a little liberating alliteration to provide some levity--but seriously, I'm about to crack).
  • If you want to know anything specific, you'll have to ask.
  • Yay!  I used several of my own creations on this one.  About damn time!

FRONT

Digital Image:
  • The image of the sleigh is from Eureka Stamps.  Coloured with Copics.  Grounding around image and ground added with chalks.
Digital Sentiment:
  • Happy holidays is one I created.

INSIDE

Digital Sentiment:
  • One of my holiday handouts I made using an image from Romiposer 11.
Digital Paper:
  • A digital paper I created.  You can find it in the January Kit under Wonderful Wednesdays.
Challenges I hope to enter:
I may add to this list throughout the week and or month.

Now, I'm headed to post number two.  See you again in a few minutes!

Holiday Handouts: Easter Goodies

For those of us who celebrate Easter, it is a joyous weekend ahead.  I know that in Canada, Friday is a stat holiday, so for us here, it is a long weekend.  If you are in PEI it is an extra long weekend because Easter Monday is considered a provincial holiday and apparently it is optional in Alberta. My understanding of Quebec is that either Friday or Monday must be observed.  Of course, anyone working in the federal government gets Friday and Monday off.  Now I learned something new about my own country today when researching this.  I was always under the impression that Easter Sunday was a stat holiday but it isn't.  Stores are often closed in different municipalities around the country but it is not considered a National holiday.  Huh!

As far as the rest of world goes, interestingly enough, Good Friday and Easter are not holidays at the National level for my friends south of the border, in the US.  Some states observe Good Friday as a state holiday and many businesses do close down on Easter Sunday so I guess it depends on where someone lives in the US as to whether this is a long weekend.   In the British Isles, France and New Zealand, it is my understanding that Friday and Monday are national holidays too.  In Sweden and Germany, the public holiday falls on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.  Greece shares the same three holidays but they don't celebrate them until the first weekend of May which I found very interesting!   In South Africa they get Good Friday off and the Monday after Easter but it is referred to as Family Day over there.  Now, have I forgotten anyone?  I have tried to cover all the places that I know of for sure where I have readers from.  If I have missed your location, I'd love to learn what days are observed in your country.

Obviously, Easter is both a Christian and pagan holiday from the spiritual side of things and I know we are a world made of many cultures and religions.  So, even if you don't celebrate the actual holiday of Easter, odds are the majority of you out there will be getting a little extra time off this week.

I have a couple Easter treats for you.  I realize it is too late for any Easter projects you may be putting together this year, but there is always next.

All of these creations were made using images from the ever-talented Romiposer 11.  I just love her stuff and have so much fun putting together digital designs based on her work.  Keep in mind though, that these combined images are for PERSONAL USE ONLY.  No selling is allowed because of the TOU of both Romiposer 11 and the creators of some of the fonts used.
