Happy Independence Day!!!

***Click HERE to find the special Christmas in July with DDDoodles & Imagine That! DbK giveaway going on during July.***

Talk about the 11th hour--literally--but thankfully it is still the Fourth of July and that means that all my wonderful American friends are celebrating Independence Day this weekend.  As promised on Wednesday, I have another treat.  This time in honour of the great old U.S. of A.

Here is what I came up with...

This digital paper is one that will become part of the Spirit of America kit that I am working on.  It is 3600 x 3600 pixels, in jpg format and published at 300 dpi.  I've used resources from Pixel Scrapper and PixabayFull credits in the file.  To grab it, click the download button to be taken to a download location.  In the zip folder you will find a copy of the paper, its preview sheet, the full credit information and my terms of use which are standard to all my folders.

Well folks, that is it for this one.  It is time for me to head to bed.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Until next time,

Card Design: Digi Darla's Challenge #93--Don We Now Our Gay Apparel

Happy Monday to you!  I am so pleased that you were able to pop by, as I'm sure you are busy this week with all those last minute holiday preparations.  As usual, my week starts off with the latest challenge over at the Digi Darla's Challenges Blog. This week for Challenge #93 the theme is "Don We Now Our Gay Apparel".  Laura, who is in charge of the December challenges, wants you all to use felt or wool on your creation this week.  It can even be digital felt if you don't have any of the real kind like me, but make sure you let us know what you used felt or wool for.

One person will be the lucky winner of FIVE Digi Darla (DD) images!  AND any entries using a DD image get entered into a SECOND drawing for THREE images. So, you could technically win eight images!  If you do use one of Kim's wonderful images make sure you let us know by writing DD after your name when you enter.

I've used the following Digi Darla image in my project this week:

Here is my project and the details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

G
eneral Comments:
  • Oh boy, I've made a bit of a mess of things this week.  First, I mixed everything up regarding the actual challenge.  Somehow I got things all screwed up and took part of next week's challenge parameters and part of this week's parameters and put them together to come up with my creation.  Not sure where my head was at.  It is obvious that I need a break and thankfully one is coming very soon.  However, since the challenge didn't technically say it had to be a Christmas card, I've managed to slip through yet another loophole because I definitely followed the 'use felt' directions at least.  You'll read about my next blunder below.

FRONT
Digital Image:
  • Balloons N Bow: You can find this image in the DD store by clicking on the image name or watermark linked above.
    • The image was brought into Photoshop Essentials 12 (YaY, I got the new software a couple weeks ago during an awesome Black Friday sale--got it for under $60.00!).  I then added a felt layer to the balloons and bows, courtesy of Scrappin' Cop It is really amazing how real the felt looks.  This layer style was also used on the number three, along with some beveling and a drop shadow.
Digital Paper:
  • For the paper, I took one of my existing solid papers that I made for the Celebration kit that I made for the World Card Making Day draw, then took the image of the balloons n bow that I had altered, reduced their size and created a digital paper for this card.
Digital Embellishments:
  • The felt ribbons at the bottom were created using a template from Sheila Reid, a designer with Pixel Scrapper.
Lessons Learned:
  • Now, some of you may know that I have balance issues in real life.  I can be standing there and suddenly topple over.  Well, apparently I had balance issues with this particular card as well.  It wasn't until I had everything all printed out and was downstairs that I realized just how off centre the front of the card was.  It wasn't that way when I created it--here I can prove it...
  • See?!  All nice and evened up on each side.  However when you look at the card itself you can see that the printing cut off a good 1/4 to 1/2 inch on the right side; so now, it looks ridiculous.  The only saving grace is that the card is going to a set of twins who will be turning three at the beginning of January.  I don't imaging they'll notice anything about the card at all, much less that it is way off centre.  Note to self:  check printed copy before cutting out and affixing to front of card.  At least if I had noticed, I could have cut off a chunk on the left hand side to match!  Of course some of the issue might have been that I had basically worked twelve hours straight on the computer, then had a bite to eat at 11:15 pm and then put the card together.  Yeah...that might have had something to do with it.

INSIDE
Digital Sentiment:
  • This is one of my own.  I just played around with the colours to match the rest of the card.
Digital Paper:
  • The paper is that original solid paper I used for the front, only used on its own this time.
Digital Embellishments:
  • The candles are from a kit I got over at Starry Nights StudioThey have lots of great freebies still available and lots of free digistamps that have been added since the last time I was there.  Another item to add to my 'to do' list, it would seem.

Card Design: From the Heart Stamps November Challenge

Holy Lord love a duck I am cutting it close with this month's entry.  With just under nine hours to go, I'm definitely pushing it.  I'm not feeling the greatest today which certainly isn't helping the situation so on that note I better get on with it.

It is time to post my card for the From the Heart Stamps progressive stamp of the month challenge.   In order to enter this challenge, you must either have received the latest image by having participated in the previous month or you can buy the stamp for the current month's challenge.  Everyone who enters and follows the rules is a winner because you automatically get the stamp for the next month's challenge.  Stop by the site and check out the rules for yourself.  While you are there, have a look around.  They have some really great images.  Below you will find the card I'm entering for the November challenge.

Here are my card and details, I hope I haven't forgotten anything...

General Information:
  • I've gone pretty clean and simple for this one and created another one layer card.

FRONT
Digital Images:
  • The image on the front, Balloon Ride, is available for purchase over at From the Heart Stamps.  Click HERE or on the watermark below to go to its location in the store.
    • The image has been coloured with Copic markers.

  • Those awesome balloons at the bottom of the front are a precoloured image from Romiposer 11.  It has been awhile since I've worked with her products and I miss it.  She graciously allows me to create freebies as long as they are PUO only and the last ones I think I created were at Easter.  It was wonderful to use some of her creations in this card.
Digital Sentiments:
  • 'Happy, happy, happy' is from the set of FTHS that we received this month.  These sets are so great because you always get at least a sentiment or two that work with the image(s).

INSIDE
Digital Images:
  • Yup, I went balloon crazy in this one.  These balloons are from the same set that I used for the front of the card.  If you are unfamiliar with Romiposer 11's work, you should really check it out.
Digital Sentiments:
  • 'Celebrate in a Big Way' is also from the FTHS set.
  • The 'Happy Birthday To You' sentiment is from the ever generous Paulette of Create with TLC.  Click HERE to go to Paulette's blog and HERE to go to the store.

Wonderful Wednesdays: Winsome Words AND Beautiful Balloons to Finish April Kit

If you are new to my blog and would like to know how Wonderful Wednesdays got started, please click HERE.

Given my 'two week vacation' coming up in a couple days, I'm going to offer up the two remaining items for the April kit.  First off, I have some winsome words for your scrapping pleasure.   Now as I was playing around with this template, I kept coming up with some different options, not sure which one to settle on I figured I'd offer them all up and leave it up to you.  Each one is approximately 1.8 by 11.9 inches and is 300 dpiThe blue and reds are reflective of the colours I've offered up so far in this month's kit.  They are all the same size and bigger than what they look like below but I'm just making them smaller to conserve space.  If you click on them you should see them in their original size.

Now, I really, really, really wanted to do a red background with white writing but I ran out of steam.  It was 5:50 am and I still had to create the goodies for the next half of this post.  Now, as you can tell, all but one have a transparent background so that you can print it out on whatever colour you want.  If you would like any of them with a white background, just shoot me off an email with the subject, "Good Times White BG" and don't forget to tell me which one you want with the white background.

While I was able to get the next batch of goodies ready before heading to bed at 6:20 I just couldn't stay up any longer to complete the bonus element for this month's kit so you are getting the post a bit later than I had hoped today

Okay, so here is the final entry for the April kit.  We finish the kit up with some Beautiful Balloons.  What is a celebration without some balloons?  I'm providing them in three different colours that will coordinate with the other items currently meant for the April kit plus in outline.  Choose one or all, it is up to you. I am very proud to say that these balloons are all digital images created by me from scratch.  Here you go...

If you have missed anything from the April kit, or if you are new to the site, you can go HERE for the first week, and HERE for the secondIf you are new and would like items from the January to March kits, just click on 'Wonderful Wednesdays' in the label section on the right sidebar (scroll down) of this blog to find them.  Remember since you are getting a two for one deal this week, there will not be a Wonderful Wednesday post next week.  Since I'm technically still supposed to be taking a break from my regular posts the first week of May, it is very likely that I will not be starting the May kit until the second Wednesday of the month.  Don't forget though, that I'll still be around, just not quite so active on the blog during the next two week period.

Hope you like my final offerings for this month's kit and can find some use for them.  If you create a project using one of these images or any of the images I create, I'd love to see them and post them into the 'Your Gallery' portion of the blog.

Until next time,
