Miniature Mon(Tues)day Weekly Roundup

Had to do some unexpected RL stuff yesterday so I didn't have time for the weekly update so for this week we get an Miniature Tuesday instead. So with the Tzeentch BSB done and the Flagellants done I can move on to some of the other projects I want to get finished.

One thing for example is to upgrade the Flagellant unit, so the unit filler I had in there (which by the way won a competition on warhammer-empire.com some years ago) didn't cut it anymore. So I went into the Empire bitz box and found many parts of my old War Altar which I scrapped when I finished the other one. It's a nice model though and I wanted to use it so I decided to make this into a new unit filler, a large unit filler.

Below you can see how it looks so far, I will make one more guy pulling the thing and finish up the Hamlet Prophet of Doom who is riding it, I think it can look really nice in that unit when it's finished.

I also doing some stuff with my WoC, I continue with my Gorebeast but wasn't happy with how the skin turned out so it will take a bit longer, I'm also working on a unit filler for Nurgle Warriors and wanted a skin tone that is blueish but still look Nurgle, I hope I achieved that with these ones and I quite like how the look.

That is all for this time, I have plenty of other projects I'm working on as well but these are the ones I want to get finished first, hopefully really soon. So until next time...

The Empire: Ten more Flagellants

Why I paint ten more Flagellants you ask? Well.... certainly not because they are any good in the game now but I quite like the models and a big unit of them looks really nice. My unit needed some reinforcements and some touch ups though so I got around and painted up ten new models for the unit. I'm also in the process of upgrading my unit filler which I will show you on the next Miniature Monday so stay tuned for some more conversion work being done.

Until then here's some middle of the unit Flagellants, meaning I haven't been putting that much time into painting them. These are also some of the old metal minis I have wanted to repaint for ages, so many of them are in the same pose (accept the girl which is an Mordheim Middenheim youngblood if I remember correctly)

The Empire: First five Knights of the Black Rose finished

So the first row (well except the Preceptor) is finished for my knight bus. As you may have seen before they are from the knightly order of the Black Rose and I like hoe the unit is turning out now when I changed some colours around. Please let me know what you think.

The last knight I have finished. Now I just need to convert and paint up nine more :P

The Empire: Unit filler WIP

As you may now I like do make Unit filler for my units, just to add some flavor to unit. But sometimes it's hard, and I find it extra hard for ordinary Empire state troops actually. But when I decided to go with more "Morr:y" feel on the army and I had these leftovers from War Altar this idea came to mind.

The whole army is around a big Morr graveyard so graves would be seen here and there, also the main enemy the army will be facing in terms of fluff is Vampire Counts so a occasional zombie or skeleton may be seen as well. So first I decided to go with the pillar grave, hand coming up from the ground and a vulture looking after something to chew on. First I thought of just adding one ore two soldiers standing before it but then I got this idea instead.

Put a drunkard in front of the grave not knowing what is trying to dig it's way up behind his back.  So I went with this idea, the whole thing may look a bit rough at the moment but I think it will look quite nice when it's done. What do you think? Should I add something or do something different, tell me anything you like.

Knight of the Black Rose Standard Bearer finished!

It may not sound like much, just an knight standard bearer. But there is actually a lot of work behind this guy and I'm also quite satisfied with the end result. First of all, some of you may have seen my old Knights of the Black Rose and see that the paint scheme doesn't look match, that's because Iv'e changed the colors yet again. Not much this time, I thought I needed some purple in the unit and less of the red so I changed some of it to purple instead. I will show you the old knights soon but they aren't hugely different.

Anyhow I like this better, and looks more like the example in the Uniforms and Heraldry book. Also googled any Latin phrase that sounded like something any followers of Morr would write on their banners. I ended up with this 'Mortui Vivos Docent' which means 'The living learns from the dead' (end in docent is on the back of the banner because I couldn't fit everything on the front part).

 Tell me what you think!

Empire Update: War Altar of Morr finished!

At last this model is finished, I've worked long and hard to get this model done. So it feels extra nice now when it's finished, and I can start to concentrate on other projects again.

I'm quite happy with how it turned out, may add some more roses to chariot and statue in the future but as of now this will have to do.

When I've taken the pictures and loaded into my computer I discovered one thing I had forgotten though, the Horn of Sigismund making the chariot cause Terror for 10 pts extra. Of course there is a horn in the kit and I had base coated it but I've then forgotten to get it done and attach it to War Altar. So this I will do asap and then move on to other stuff, like paint more of my Demigryphs, some Archers and convert and paint up more of my Inner Circle Knights.

That's all for now, tell me what you think. Does it look like a War Altar dedicated to Morr? And does the Morr High Priest (or Arch Lector) fit in with the rest of the model? As always all comments are very  welcome.

WIP: War Altar of Morr Progress

I'm taking it slow with this conversion as I still haven't figured it all out how I'm going to Morr:ify the War Altar. Now I think I have some decent ideas and I've started the assembling and painting of the model. I actually paint most of the parts individually as the interior and stuff is much harder to paint once the whole model is assembled and there is so much details so I recommend going with this route.

Accept from the Statue I haven't done any real conversions yet. I will paint most of it and assemble most of it before I do most of the conversions. I plan on fill the windows with plasti card and have some Morr:y stuff there like more candles (which we get plenty of in the kit), more skulls, hourglass etc. I will also cover the chassi in black roses which I'm currently making with roses from the Garden of Morr and I'm in the process of copying them with Instant Mold.

The statue is from the Garden of Morr but thought it looked a bit skinny on top of that altar so I took the wings from my old War Altar :-o chopped the and glued them to this statue. As you can see on the pic the whole thing is tinted on the altar and that because I haven't glued on the altar yet as you can understand from what I've mentioned earlier. And as it is right now it can't stand upright by it self.

I have also found my Morr High Priest I think. Was going for the Arch Lector found in the War Altar Kit but I went another route instead. I found the this 40k Sisters of Battle Confessor and thought that may be good looking High Priest and I think the pose is excellent for the altar (sorry I couldn't show this on the pic, the whole model will tip if I put him there now when its unglued). I also found it fitting with him holding the icon in his hands, so I will do some green stuff work on this guy. I will use the Death Wizard scythe as his weapon and I will green stuff a robe (and the top of his head of course) and change the necklace. Think it will look rather nice.

So what do you think? Any more suggestions and ideas on how to Morr:ify the War Altar. Is it something you think I should change? All comments are very welcome.
