CED February_ Night...

" I'm wishing upon the stars that you'll be in my dream tonight..."

CED or Creative Every Day is a blog I enjoy visiting for some inspirations- be it for looking at others' creative works or creating something from the themed challenges every month.

As this month's theme is Night, I doodled a little something on a small piece of textured paper and inverted it in Photoshop just to see the contrasted image which is more suitable for the theme.

The Fish that Walks

Something bizarre or weird that has to do with nature always fascinates me because it makes me THINK.

Yes, it makes me think and wonder about the vastness of God's creations.. and how little do I know about the world I'm living in. No matter how much knowledge you could gather while you are living.. there'll always be something else you still don't know.

Have you ever seen a walking fish that has four legs? I saw it in the newspaper once.

Cute, huh?

I wonder..

.. if this fish might be the mermaid's version of a pet? hmm..

" Owhh... you're so adorable.. eeeee...."
"Mmmeooooowwww. "

CE: Small

" Whoa! I can't believe how small you are!!"

"Syyyyyyyyyyyyyhhh.."

The theme for CreativeEveryday- "small"... yet again brought me to the time when I fantasized about the world of fairies and the invisible magical world. The illustration above showed exactly how I would've reacted if I saw one of them. Any bigger than that (or uglier).. I would've fainted, I think.

Back in 1980s.. when I was in a primary school in Kuala Terengganu, there was a little rumors (which later turned to be one of the biggest 'news' throughout Malaysia) that went around the neighboring school- some kids saw 'little people'/ orang kenit who had their own little village under the big trees at the end of my school field. Yes, the kids aged between 7 to 10 years really saw these little people who seemed 'invisible' to the grown-ups' eyes. Some of them saw the little people entering the classroom and playing around while the teacher was teaching. Imagine how the teacher freaked out when the student told her, " Teacher, he's on your desk!." A few of the kids actually met the  little village's Leader and found that the latter had his own aeroplane too! Cool, huh? That year, so many reporters came by the school and interviewed these kids for the newspapers, magazines and TV. Until one day, one of the kids said, the little people finally decided to leave the place because humans came and disturbed their place. So, just like that.. the story ended. Where on earth did they go?

I did wish to check out if it was true but my parents already warned me, "Don't even think about it!"- well, sort of. I wonder why those little people didn't come to my school, sometimes. Such a mystery. Many people think these kids made up the stories to gain attention or they were just their imagination. Hmm.. I don't know why would the kids do that. Sometimes, the only people you can trust are kids. They don't lie. They tell you what they see.. and that's that!

There's so much we don't know about this world.. no matter how far and how many countries you have been. God's creations are so vast & variety. There's no denying in that. When you know so much, there's still so much you don't know. 

Ilmu Allah sangat luas.. 

Nothing is impossible :)

Testing the Tea Stains..

Have you ever tried using tea-stains for your art works? It's quite cool. One of my favorite illustrators online, Amalia K. uses a lot of this technique. She creates so many beautiful artworks from her giving heart and soulful imaginations. I've never actually tried this tea-stains until today... Actually, I'm having a bit of flu and was told to rest.. then I imagined it'll be nice to curl in my bed.. like a little birdie in its nest- which brought me to this idea for Creative Everyday Challenge this month- NEST! Wohoo!

So, before I took my rest, here it goes..

And below was the outcome.. after a little watercolor touch on it..

The tea-stains were quite classic and nice, huh...? Well, I like it :). This was a good experimentation.

Now, I can go to bed.

Fantasy Revisited..

So far, there are 2 online challenges that I've signed up for in 2011.. in addition to the MondayArtday challenge that I participated from time to time since last year. 

I think, Whimsical Wednesday is a great way to be practice drawings, be witty and train our mind to be more creative and have fun along the way.. while Creative Every Day is simply as it says.. being creative in everyday of our life (not necessarily in all 24hrs but a few minutes a day would do..) plus we get to share it with the world rather than let it pickled away..! I am quite new at online challenges participation.. but I'd like to do that whenever I've the chance, in order to keep myself away from creative deprivation. But most importantly, my mission is to get into my deeper self and find back the kid in me.. that kid who used to just draw and draw whatever came into her mind.. who dreamed of fantasies and the world beyond her home and scribbled silly cartoons that make no sense at all, but enjoyed life as it was without any worries. What she really wanted was.. to simply draw things that make her happy and gleeful inside :).

An artist or a creative person does stuck in rut, sometimes. He/ She needs inspirations to get out from it.. or just something/ an idea/ a cool little inspiration/ a discussion with oneself or another.. to give him/her a boost or a spark for a new venture... you know, like a car needing a jump-start after a while running on the long and winding road. So, things like participating in these online challenges may help in some ways. There are so many online challenges out there if you search the web. I was almost overwhelmed by them and looking at the pools of talents existed on this planet... Phew!! 

Last night before I went to sleep, I made a little artwork combining my drawing with digital coloring. This is what the "Cosmo" theme from Creative Every Day has inspired me to create..

See that dragon..? Back in 2009, I've posted my dragon drawing on a t-shirt. It was the creature that followed me home after an enchanting trip to Beijing, China (2008). When the time comes, (there's time for everything, right?.. ehem ehem ).. I'll tell you more about it in my coming post.
