My Balrog, the Durin's Bane

The moment I saw this cheap plastic dragon on a shelf in a toy store, I said to myself "This can be a Balrog! The ancient enemy of the dwarves!". So I bought it for my Lord of the Rings miniature collection without a second thought

   Balrog, the Durin's Bane!

I glued the miniature on a 60mm base where I added a round shield, a dwarf helmet, a sword in its scabbard and an axe. I also glued some little rocks on the base.

The other day we were invited in a good friend's house. In his yard he has a "parasia" where he fries potatoes and not only. Whatever he cooks on it, is delicious!

Parasia

"Parasia" was for many years the traditional way of cooking in many villages of Crete. Nowadays they are very rare.

That's it for today! Stay tuned for more!

Gundabad Blackshields Goblins WIP

Hello! This is my first post after six months of silence. Although I had as a rule to publish at least one post every month, several problems forced me not to follow this rule the current year.
First of all, since I used Windows XP till last summer, one day everything on my laptop was blocked due to lack of any upgrades. Furthermore, Picasa program stopped its function. There I kept all my photos and it was the program I used to add watermarks on them, etc! In addition to all these my work kept me super busy all this period of the year.
Anyway, now I am back! I would like to say that my blog became 9 years old in August. I hope to be more prolific next year! Meanwhile, I bought the Oathmark Goblins box and one of their blisters. I intend to use them as Gundabad Blackshields Goblins so that my Grim Hammers will have a well-equipped combative opponent.
Below you can see their King, a Captain, a Shaman, some banners, a drummer and three group of warriors, two with hand weapons (swords, axes, etc.) and the third with spears.
That’s all for today! See you next year. Stay safe!

More Giant Bats!

Some months ago I bought six aquarium decoration pieces from the local pet shop. They were very cheap, less than 1 euro each. I used one piece to decorate the bases of my fell wargs and the rest I kept to use for my Bat Swarm. Though these are miniatures for the Age of Sigmar I believe they are perfect for Moria atmosphere. Just I needed to give them some height to match with my Giant Bats and for this I had the aquarium decoration pieces. Druzhag the Beast caller will not see any difference!

Less than 1 euro each!

Apart from the above pieces I used two bases from the Myrmourn Banshees box. More about the Banshees in a future post.

Fell Wargs Pack

Four days after my Fell Wargs Pack WIP post, I finished painting all seven wargs of the pack. This time I was really fast! I tried to paint the pupils but the result was a cross-eyed warg so I decided not to bother. I think that yellow instead of white probably would be better. Never mind, they look fell enough!
