The many Moogs of Ruth White

RUTH WHITE, an artist-composer of the West Coast, is shown here creating her own brand of electronic music. Miss White, whose first album on Limelight Records will soon be released, believes much of today's electronic music is sounding the same.
Billboard Nov. 2, 1968

Some months ago while looking for what I thought was a version of Couperin's "Les Barricades Mistérieuses" I taped off WMNF-FM in 1982, I found two of Ruth White's LPs at moogswings.

Short Circuits (1970) is a collection of Moogified classical pieces.

Flowers of Evil (1969), based on Baudelaire's Fleurs du mal.

"I never do the same thing twice. Some composers get bogged down on repetition and slight changes in the name of perfection. I do something, as well as I can do it, then go on to do something else."

Emmanuelle: The joys of a Moog

Federico Monti Arduini — A.K.A. Il Guardiano del Faro — presents us with a Moog version of Pierre Bachelet's theme from Emmanuelle.

Bachelet ripped off King Crimson's "Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part 2" for the film's sex scenes and Crimso's Robert Fripp sued and won a settlement. Here's a comparison of the two tracks:

Moogy-Woogy Gainsbourg.

World of Kane treats us this rollicking theme song to what looks like a pretty fun French movie, "Trop jolies pour être honnêtes." Now I've gotta see it. Is it too soon to book it for the Great PCL FilmFest?

Rock and Moog Party

Say gang, it's a Rock and Moog party and everyone's invited! I mean everyone, even your Bubie and Zadie, there's a version of Hava Nagilah--and bring along the Kamehamehas, there's a Moog version of Aloha Oe...not to mention versions of Ghost Riders and Cherry Pink and High Noon, and tons more of music that sounds incredibly stupid as played on a synthesizer. Yippee!

An Electric Religious Moog Symphony

New super stuff shared by Wiel's Time Capsule:
" This is a religious Moog album on the Light record label. You can tell that from the titles, but you can hardly hear it. The music is good and the Moog well used. It is played by Clark Gassman, the same guy who played the Moog on Martin Denny's Exotic Moog. Ralph Carmichael was the director. Carmichael wrote and arranged pop tunes for Peggy Lee, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, and Stan Freberg(!). And he composed for Bonanza, Lucy Ball and Danny Kaye shows. ..."
