Flying Saucers Over Hollywood! (Also, Beatles.)
Hey, kids! Beatle John wants you to rush out and buy Ringo's new album... before he apparently leaps to his death from the top of the Capitol Records building.

The Four Dummies
For those of you who get annoyed when we appear to laugh at the odd Asian cover versions of US pop music, I just want to say that The Four Dummies are supposed to be a parody of the Beatles, so we're laughing WITH them, OK? Is the fat one supposed to be Ringo?

Bangin' the Beatle Drums.
DJ Diddy Wah continues his great vinyl digging with this great Midwestern surf tribute to Ringo, "Beatle Drums" b/w "Long Hair" by the Motions. Did you know that Ringo's going to be turning 70 in a couple of weeks? Egad.

Big Ben Banjo Band - The Beatles Tribute
The Beatles tribute LP by the Big Ben Banjo Band is a real barn burner. Featuring such hits as Paperback Writer, Eight Days A Week and All My Loving (all condensed for your listening pleasure in one track!) it screams cheese and crass commercialism. Enjoy!

Meet the Beatles
Here's my criteria for accepting or rejecting people who want to be my friend on last.fm...if you have either Beck or the Beatles in your top 10, forget it. But songs about the Beatles are another thing altogether.
I know some hipper-than-thou sort is going to make fun of me for being nearly a month late noting blowupdoll's bizarro collection of Beatle-related songs - including a girl Beatle band, Yoko ululating about the joys of being Mrs. Lennon (I'm assuming she ululates....YOU download it and tell me if I'm wrong, OK?), and Sissy Spacek's plea to John Lennon to throw a towel over it already. But I'm working 12 hour days for the foreseeable future, so who has time for endless searching for crap music???? Damn it all.

All You Need Is Fab.
But that leads to the next new find -- a new music project called The Beatles Complete on Ukulele. A couple of Brooklyn lads (and assorted guest artists) are recording ukulele-based covers of every Beatles original tune and releasing one a week. This week's track is "Run For Your Life."
The project began on Inauguration Day and the grand finale is planned to coincide with the opening of the 2012 Olympics. Mighty ambitious for guys with funny little guitars, eh?

Vatican Forgives Lennon; Lennon Unresponsive
Vatican forgives Lennon for "Bigger than Jesus" remark.
Way to forgive! Yeah! Just a short 42 year wait! Like 5 minutes in purgatory, really....

Pandemonium!
Ok, PCL has once again, been invaded.
Right now we've got a crazy gorilla man lose in the building. And, he's not only crazy, he needs - as the always very sharp observer Lex 10 (he's got a great eye for details!) points out - a haircut. And quite possibly some clothes. Fortunatley the other new member Bella Bliss, probably can fix him up. A vintage suit and a very big hat would be nice. Untill we get everything under control here at The PCL Headquarters we blame Communism, Hypnotism and the Beatles, as always!!!

It has been said but its about time we communicate this seriously important message once more: "Throw your Beatle and rock and roll records in the city dump. We have been unashamed of being labeled a Christian nation; let’s make sure four mop-headed anti-Christ beatniks don’t destroy our children’s emotional and mental stability and ultimately destroy our nation as Plato warned in his Republic. "
Yes, sirs! Head on over to Conelrad and get your facts right! 'Communism, Hypnotism and the Beatles' is probably the only document you'll ever need (except your Bible and ... ahem ... the stash of mags under your bed ..).

The Beatles and the french press
They all had something to write about the beatles!
Mr Dantefontana told me about this blog: bonsoirparis.com (written in french), and this is a cool blog indeed, exclusively dedicated to the beatlemania through the french press during the 60's. All stories and rumors, true or false, that could have been written about the boys. Mathilde graciously shares her collection, all kinds of vintage french newspapers and magazines, musical or not, full of rare photos and detailed interviews and articles, some are very serious others are hilarious or pathetic, but they all had something to write about The Beatles.
Si tu es un peu nostalgique et que tu parles francais, go check bonsoirparis.com!
For those of you who don't speak le francais there is a ton of RARE pictures to look at.
