Still plugging away

Ok, my weight is now 167.4 - not good but I haven't given up yet, nor have I started REALLY trying to lose. But I have a plan - Big news! I'M GOING TO BE A GRANDMA!!!!! My son and his wife are expecting in February. Sadly, daughter still not expecting - I know she really wants a baby and was really upset that her brother "beat her to it". But anyway - son and wife are stationed in England and I have hoped desperately to make the trip over to see them while they are there. Financially not possible at the moment but now that I'm going to have a grandchild, maybe it'll give me the incentive to put money back each payday so I can get there when the baby is born! Not to mention, that falls right at income tax time which would help too.

Haven't done anything else on the house - been too busy in the garden. So far this year I have canned 30 quarts of green beans, frozen broccoli, made blackberry jam, strawberry jam, and put zucchini and summer squash in the freezer. This weekend I will have more beans and probably tomatoes to can. Brussell sprouts are coming on and I should have enough to freeze this weekend also.  Thankfully, everything I have frozen so far has gone into the kitchen freezer because last week my deep freeze somehow got unplugged and I lost everything in it! Just got it cleaned out last night - YUCK, what a job. It is, however, clean but still has a rather bad smell. I put a bowl of charcoal and lots of baking soda in it and will let it sit until the smell is gone before I start re-stocking it.

Going to start teaching my co-workers to crochet next week - that should be interesting! Will let you know how it goes. I've about finished with my "name" wall hangings, just have one more to go before Christmas and am now madly crocheting baby things! Fun! I'll be posting pictures as I finish.

Lost Generation

Just got this from a video and I think it's awesome!

1     I realize that this may be a shock but
2.       Happiness comes from within
3.       Is a lie and
4.       Money will make me happy
5.       So in thirty years I will tell my children
6.       They are not the most important thing in my life
7.       My employer will know that
8.       I have my priorities straight because
9.       Work
10.   Is more important than
11.   Family
12.   I tell you this
13.   Once upon a time
14.   Families stayed together
15.   But this will not be true in my era
16.   This is a quick fix society
17.   Experts tell me
18.   Thirty years from now I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of my divorce
19.   I do not concede that
20.   I will live in a country of my own making
21.   In the future
22.   Environmental destruction will be the norm
23.   No longer can it be said that
24.   My peers and I care about this earth
25.   It will be evident that
26.   My generation is apathetic and lethargic
27.   It is foolish to presume that
28.   There is hope

And all of this will come true unless we choose to reverse it.

28.   There is hope
27. It is foolish to presume that

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.
12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again.
13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to.
14. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.
15. I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

19. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?

23. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time.
24. The first testicular guard, the "Cup," was used in Hockey in 1874 ;  the first helmet was used in 1974. That means it only took 100 years for men to realize that their brain is also important.
