Cat on the Moon
I'm posting this midday to make up for the missed posting yesterday.
The cat on this diecut is perched upon the nose of the moon who doesn't seem to mind.

Blowing in the Wind
I found this beaten scarecrow at the same estate sale as this witch and this witch. I really like the design of this. The colors are still vibrant, the haystacks and pumpkins well-detailed.

Peck Dracula and Skeleton Die Cuts
Sorry for dropping the ball today and not posting on time, but I'm here to make up for it. You guessed it, more die cuts! I believe both of these are made by Peck. The skeleton and Jack O' Lantern is classic 1970's Peck design.

The Fright Stuff
When you see more die cuts posted, you know I'm running behind on posts and needed something quick. I'm having trouble keeping up this year, despite taking several days off this past week. But anyway, here you go. While these aren't classic die cuts, they are Beistle and they date from the 1980's, so they have a little creep cred.
First up is a classic Dracula.

Beistle Little Witch
Normally each season I try to limit the same kind of object to one per week, particularly die cuts. But this year, I've come into a goodly number of them, many from the same sale, so I thought I'd start posting these a little more frequently.
First up is this Beistle Witch. I'm not sure if she's supposed to be a child witch or just a short witch, but I like her and her frightened Jack O' Lantern. It's one I've never seen before, and I found 2 at the same sale.
Not only is she small, the die cut is as well, measure 5 1/2". If I had to hazard a guess, I would say she's from the 1950's to 1960's.Wednesday, October 2, 2024
Boo, Dude!
Let's kick off this season's die cut posts with this Beistle I like to call, for obvious reasons, "Boo, Dude!"

Mondays are to Die (cut) For - Beistle Scaredy Cat
Welcome to final "Mondays are to Die (cut) For". Boy, that went fast.
This classic Beistle design is the "Scaredy Cat" and was another purchase at the Halloween collector estate sale. This one is a large version measuring 16" x 15". He's a little worse for wear, but a survivor, much like an old Tom cat who's been through a life of cat fights and missing a few pieces from his ear. I couldn't find this one in my reference books, but I would guess he's from the 1950's.

Scratch Cat Fever
These die cuts are referred to as "Scratch Cats" due to their extended claws and hackled backs.
This die cut was made by Beistle and dates to the 1960's. It's jointed and can be positioned as desired. I recently found this along with two identical die cuts in a lot at an estate sale. I paid up for the 3 at $15, but each is worth $15, so I didn't do too bad. Aside from the staples in the back of this piece, it and the others are in excellent condition. There are no bends and the joints are tight.

Black Cat Face Die Cut
I picked up this cat face diecut in a lot last summer. It was included in the same lot as the Eureka Trick or Treaters and the Eureka Owl. This particular die cut dates to the 1940's and is unmarked.
This is a fairly large die cut measuring 11" x 11". It kind of reminds me of the old Black Cat Fireworks packages.

Trick 'n Treat!
Well this is it, the night of nights. 31 days of preparation have all lead up to this. And we know what "this" is. It's all about "Trick or Treating". Or is it "Trick-r-Treating". Or is it "Tricker Treating". Or is it "Trick 'n Treating" as these die cuts say. Either way, it's all about the candy. Grab your bucket and let's all walk up to the haunted house.
This set of Trick 'n Treaters was created by Peck in the 1970's. The question the children should be asking is, are the ghosts tricking or are they treating?

A Grave Die Cut
I bought this skeleton die cut from the same woman at the flea market where I found yesterday's blogged items. This die cut is make by Eureka and probably dates from the 1960's or '70's.

Fuzzy Peck
These two flocked felines are frolicking playfully on a Jack O' Lantern who appears to be none to happy about the situation. Watch those claws!
This die cut was produced by Peck in the 1970's and was previously seen a Halloween post I did in 2017 where it appeared on a wall behind Fonzie in the "Happy Days" episode "Haunted".As mentioned, the cats are flocked in a black velvet, a die cut feature exclusive, to my knowledge, to Peck.

Eureka Witch on Broom
It shows the witch riding her broom, bedecked in a star-covered black robe and hat. Her broom has the optional bulb horn to warn Sunday drivers to get out of the way. A ghost, probably drunken, based on his nose, has hitched a ride. Remember, friends don't let friends drive drunk. Not even ones that are already dead.
I found a few other items in the same bag which I'll post at a later date (how's that for suspense?).
