Unboxing The Devils Run - The Jets 'Pulsar'

"Nobody calls me chicken!"

The Pulsar is a 'The Jets' model for Word Forge Games post-apocalyptic miniatures game 'The Devils Run'. Of course if you've never seen the game before then those terms are meaningless to you...so first here's some background...

The Devils Run
The Devil's Run: Route 666 is a fast-moving and hard-hitting vehicular combat board game set in a post-apocalyptic America; Each player controls a gang of ramshackle vehicles and their characterful drivers as they race across the remains of America to lay claim to aid drops, food and fuel. Each gang will do whatever it takes to get to there first...bash, crash, smash, race, win!
The Jets
The Jets are based out of an old Air Museum somewhere north of Oakland. Their leader, Francis Whittle is a genius, who 'kit-bashes' the museum's exhibits with whatever he can find in the surrounding area. These Frankenstein vehicles have one thing in common, they are all jet-propelled. His fantastical machines vary greatly, from bumbling flying constructs known as Hornets to his signature tractor/jet plane hybrid known as the Meteor.
So far the deziens of the bay area have seen little of the Jets, just the occasional very fact moving vehicle infact. When Whittle caught sight of the flying Justice though, his intend has been singular: The Jets must have the technology of the Jetpack. Whittle is on a course and it's set to crash with Justice and crash hard.

A Note About Resin Models
Due to the moulding process many resin models come with extraneous bits of resin that needs to be removed ranging from large lumps to smaller bits of flash and this should be removed carefully in order to avoid damaging any detail. Also it's worth noting that many resin models have a slightly greasy feel caused by the substance they use to stop them sticking to the moulds during production and this can cause issues with paint not sticking to the model properly. Carefully washing the parts in soapy water will remove this should your model be unduly affected. Parts that are bent (or that aren't and you want to be) can be corrected by heating up slightly in warm water and then bending into the required configuration.

The Pulsar - Unassembled
Here are pictures of the unassembled parts.

The Pulsar - Stat and Upgrade Cards
The pulsar comes with six cards. One of these is the models stat card, two are character cards for both the driver and the driven and three are upgrade cards. These upgrades are all specific to The Jets faction.

Note - The vehicles are roughly 20mm scale so are compatible with games that use Matchbox or Hot Wheels models.

Any resemblance to the following individuals is probably a complete coincidence...

The Pulsar - Assembled
As this model just requires you to glue the upright piece to the appropriate point on the rear this is a very simple assembly job.
Here's a few close-up pictures as well...

The Pulsar - Painted
Here's an official picture from their website of a painted version.

Thoughts and comments are (as usual) most welcome.
Should you ever choose to purchase something based on one of my features or reviews then it would be nice if you could let the company know where the inspiration came from...who knows...they might be grateful to the poor unappreciated blogger who sent you their way...if however I've put you off a product...well...you can keep that info to yourself...

Unboxing The Devils Run - Freelancer 'The Gentleman'

"Care for some relish with that?..."
The Gentleman is a 'Freelancer' model for Word Forge Games post-apocalyptic miniatures game 'The Devils Run'. Of course if you've never seen the game before then those terms are meaningless to you...so first here's some background...

Freelancers
Some seeks solace in the sanctity of isolation, whereas others are shunned and cast out by the community they once called home. Whatever the reason they find themselves alone in the wild, it is a difficult and dangerous existence. Some of these lost souls (or are they found?), eke out a living by offering their services to the gangs. Collectively they are known as Freelancers, but this is really all they have in common.

The Gentleman - Unassembled
Here are pictures of both sides of the unassembled parts.
There's a piece of excess moulding material attached to the rear of the main main piece of this model but it's attached to a featureless section beneath the car so no detail is lost when it's removed.

Note - The vehicles are roughly 20mm scale so are compatible with games that use Matchbox or Hot Wheels models.

The Gentleman - Stat and Upgrade Cards
The Gentleman comes with six cards. One of these is the models stat card, one is a character card for the driver and four are upgrade cards. Two of the upgrades are both generic so in theory could be used on any vehicle if you were up for some conversion work and the other two are specific to the Freelancers faction.

The Gentleman - Assembled
After removing the piece of resin beneath the rear, assembling this model is a simple case of adding the separate gun. If of course you don't want to add the gun then it's simpler still...

Unboxing The Devils Run - Freelancer 'Road Eagle'

"The man...the machine..."
The Road Eagle is a 'Freelancer' model for Word Forge Games post-apocalyptic miniatures game 'The Devils Run'. Of course if you've never seen the game before then those terms are meaningless to you...so first here's some background...

Road Eagle - Stat Card
The Road Eagle comes with a single card. The model itself can be equipped with one Buggy or Car forward weapon so works best if you already have some of those cards from other purchases.

Note - The vehicles are roughly 20mm scale so are compatible with games that use Matchbox or Hot Wheels models.

Road Eagle - Assembled
The upper body simply needs adding to the bike and the lot adding to the base. There's a small amount of clean-up to be done but it's fairly minor.
Here's a couple of close-up pictures as well.

Any resemblance to the following television show is purely coincidental...

Road Eagle - Render
Here's an official picture of the initial render for this model.
