Branches hanging showcasing different tones of leaves can't be prettier! I thought I'd use this idea, usually found on Fall scenes -and cards- and translate it to a Christmas card. I was inspired by a fun sketch by Latina Crafter and though my take isn't as literal I did try to work with all the elements on it. This card has a lot of elements, but I tried to balance their arrangement using different tones of green, gold, and adding touches of brown here and there. The card's background started off with lots of foliage stamping in very light beige and brown and even some clear heat embossing. I used the largest stamp from my new kit Blossoms & Blessings by Unity Stamp Co. to create hanging branches from the top of the white background. Then I added gold holiday winterberries and cut leaves from a green botanical stem. I also wrapped linen thread around the top to add a rustic touch. Finally I carefully sprayed green ink to finish the background. ...

This week Our Daily Bread Designs is hosting an Inspiration Challenge! The inspiration photo goes along so well with the new release. I created this card using the new Umbrella die upside down holding little handmade flowers. I thought the umbrella would look perfect in front of the Window die, to which I added a beautiful piece of patterned paper from the Blushing Rose Collection. The sentiment is from one of the new stamp sets released and I think this verse not only goes well with the theme of this week's challenge and my design, but also is such a beautiful promise, a very encouraging and inspiring verse! I have learned to love pretty dies used to create scenes or house facades. Usually, I'm all about frames and layering die cuts to embellish my cards. This is because those were the kind of dies I knew of back when I started making cards. Now a days there is such a large variety of pretty dies and though I still love intricate, vintage layers, I was drawn to try out a pretty set to create this window card. I dried embossed the white background with a brick texture, to recreate a house's wall. I think it adds a nice touch to the card. I used the new Poppystamps Large Madison Window Set to cut the window and shutters from metallic pink cardstock. I spritzed and splatter white ink spray to the shutters to make them look worn. The background of the window, is actually vellum, but I also added a pretty border die cut from ODBD Beautiful Borders as a curtain. Were you able to join us last week at our Shining the Light challenge? This week our challenge at Our Daily Bread Designs is a sketch! When I saw the sketch I think I knew right away that I wanted to make a window card. I decided to make a garden themed card too, with a bit of floral pattern and garden die cuts! You may have noticed by now how much I love to use the largest frame from Flourished Star Pattern dies. I just like the stitched border this die has and how it matches many other dies from ODBD like the Gilded Gate I used this time too! I die cut a window on the white mat using Vintage Flourish Pattern and then I embossed it with a polka dot folder. I thought some polka dot embossing would look great with this card's design, especially because of the shabby chic look it has.
