DISTRESSED ..........

I've been tarting up our bedrooms  .....

This is an original Victorian built in cupboard in one of our spare bedrooms. Back in the eighties, we stripped it and there it stayed but, as something to do in this pandemic, I decided to paint it and distress it ..... the door is a bit warped but that adds to it's charm { that's my excuse ! } One can hide a multitude of sins if you adopt the distressed look 😃

I do like that distressed look ..... I know some of you will think I'm mad but I really like that old, weathered look .....

..... I distressed the fireplace as well ..... Apollo watches over it !

I'll show you the other bedrooms soon ..... they really all could do with being painted again but this will do for the time being !

Also, I bought all new bedding for all of our four bedrooms ..... duvets, mattress and pillow protectors, and new pillows ..... it's something that never enters my head to buy ..... so, now its all nice and new for when people stay ..... how often do you buy new bedding ?

Has this situation that we all find ourselves in motivated you ?

..... AND THE REST IS RUST AND STARDUST .....

I think that you all know by now that I like a bit of rust in the garden ! My new acquisition is my rust crown and the plant of the moment is Muehlenbeckia.

Rusty old chair .....

Rusty arch and gates that we bought at Chelsea in 2012 at a very reasonable price which was a bit of a surprise !

Rusty old urn that we have had for ages .....

and a few rusty plant supports.

I did buy this bench, thinking it was distressed but painted and, when it arrived it was VERY rusty ..... I liked the look of it but, nobody wanted to sit on it and ruin their clothes so .....

..... we painted it ..... now it's stardust.

..... although it was a lovely sunny day today, the wind is blowing and Autumn is on it's way.

FANTASY BLUE HOUSE..........

Welcome to The Blue House....come through the iron front gate and up to the front door.........

.......... through the inner door, which has a welcoming country bunch of flowers and you step into............

.......... the Hall........ smells gorgeous, doesn't it ? That will be the pot pourri
in the large bowl on the table. You would like to use the telephone.........

.......... feel free.....do you know how to use these retro phones ?......... while you're doing that I'll just be in the kitchen..........

............. Ah, there you are. Did you manage O.K., .....Good......Let's have a nice cup of tea.......Ah, good. I see that Fortnum and Masons have delivered. We will be enjoying some of the contents of that hamper later......

.......... I'll just reach up and get one of these cups , sorry, what's that......you would rather have a cup and saucer ? No problem. I'll organise it.
Just got to dry one up....could you pass one of those tea towels over on the stool ?
Blueberry cake with your tea ?..........

Bring your tea and cake through to the dining room.....can you manage?

..........OOooooo I think that it's someones birthday in this bedroom .......... Happy Birthday, sorry to disturb you ..........

....Oh, they must have been celebrating in the family bathroom as well !!!! .....
O.K....... that's upstairs. Shall we go and have a look at the conservatory ? ..........

.......... looks as if the celebrations have been going on in here. A good place for a party.......... come and have a look outside .....

.......... if you would like to put a pair of wellies on , we'll go and look at the garden and sit at the outside table .....

.......... Oh good, they have lit the candles and I don't think that it will be long before dinner is served. I hope that you have enjoyed looking around my Fantasy Blue House and that you will be a regular visitor.

LAVENDER and OLD LACE..........

Come with me through this lovely distressed door to a wonderful world of interiors....well, I think so anyway!!!!

Lace, satin, chandelier, flowers........a world of shabby chic delights.

Old rose pink, iron bed and beaded fringed lampshade.......

.........lets just pop outside for a moment, it's a lovely day and I've just made a cake (kitchen coming up in a minute)...sit down, I'll be out in a moment.

.........I have just picked this larkspur from the garden....I tend to grow flowers that match my decor perfectly !!!!!!

Here we are in the kitchen....see I told you that I grow my flowers to match...pink roses to match the food mixer !!!!!!!.........

................excuse me a moment, I'm just going to make melon vodka.......we can have some on the porch later...as you all know, I'm not much of a drinker, so I'll probably abstain !!!!!!!! NOT

.............. Won't be a sec..I'm on my way with the cake....I made a few more things while I was at it.. .......

..........shall we sit here instead ? There's a lovely view from here.......

...( don't think that I like this but it comes with the house!!!!) I can always take it to the charity shop...I'm sure one of you out there will take it off of my hands.
