ZENTANGLE ART

Hi everyone! I have not been making as many cards since Operation Write Home shut down, and as a result, I have not been posting on my blog as much. Well that is about to change! I have been busy with art, but I haven’t been posting it!!! LOL I don’t know why. I just think I was a bit shy about showing something I was learning. So, to catch up, I’m going to post a couple of my Zentangle tiles each day.

Zentangle tiles are 3.5 x 3.5 squares of card stock that is used for Zentangle drawings. To learn more about this art style, I am using Beckah Krahula’s One Zentangle a Day book. These are my first two tiles from the first two lessons:

Patterns: Tipple, Static, Crescent Moon

Patterns: Fescue, Knight’s Bridge, Tipple, Nekton

Like I said, these are my first two tiles, so I have a lot to learn about patterns, strings and shading. There are so many beautiful examples on Pinterest and Facebook; I hope to one day be as good as the ones I see!

This drawing is done with a Micron pen and  graphite pencils.

BIBLE JOURNAL #22

Hello blogging friends! here is my Bible Journal for this week:

“The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.”  Psalm 145:8 (ESV)

Full Definition of mercy from http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/mercy

“plural mercies

  1. 1 a :  compassion or forbearance shown especially to an offender or to one subject to one's power; also :  lenient or compassionate treatment <begged for mercy> b :  imprisonment rather than death imposed as penalty for first-degree murder

  2. 2 a :  a blessing that is an act of divine favor or compassion b :  a fortunate circumstance <it was a mercy they found her before she froze>

  3. 3 :  compassionate treatment of those in distress <works of mercy among the poor>”

As I stopped to contemplate mercy this week, I realized mercy is something that I don’t see as often these days. Instead, I see people who want revenge, vengeance, or cruelty. Jesus’ mercy, shown to us by His great sacrifice on the cross, is the greatest example of mercy that I can imagine. Mercy is simply not getting what you deserve. Thank goodness God is merciful!!! I know that He has spared me from eternal death and shows me mercy in my life.

I watch as our country goes through this election cycle and pray that people will gain graciousness, be merciful and compassionate. We are so divided and at odds it scares me. So, please join me in praying for our country and for God’s mercy to be shown to us once again.

This drawing is done with a Micron pen and  graphite pencils.

ANY OCCASION CARD

Hello sweet blogging friends! I am popping in today to share a card that I drew. I didn’t add a sentiment so it can be for any occasion.

(A2: Hand drawn original)
This card was hand drawn by me using graphite, Micron pens and Prismacolor pencils.  The gems are really popular in Zentangle and I usually color them with Copic markers. This time I tried the Prismacolor pencils and love the way they turned out.
The Zentangle patterns I used are: Aquafleur, Fescu, Tipple, Ionic.
Well, I hope you like my sketch. I really would like to hear what you think so please leave a comment!!
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy creating!

BIBLE JOURNAL 18

Hello blogging friends! here is my Bible Journal for this week:

“Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.” (Psalm 103:1 KJV)

This week I decided to use a beautiful  stamp from Verve Stamps “Good Work” set. Then I used Zentangle patterns to decorate the page. The patterns I used are Knights Bridge, Phicops, Fescu, Puf Leaf and a variation on Shasta.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Please take a second to let me you were here!

Have a blessed day!
