Okay, this really freaked me out.  My vet always sends out postcards to their clients when their animal is due for a vaccination or a checkup.  They're always postcards of animals.

But yesterday this arrived (see pic below). When I first took it out of my mailbox, I glanced quickly and thought, Oh, now they're sending postcards with the same breed as what I have, that's kind of fun.  Then I kept looking...and staring...and staring... until I finally realized, Wait, that's not just a Golden, that's my dog.

I actually think what they've done is hilarious, and don't mind a bit.  But it makes me feel a teeny bit weird. I suppose it's as if someone took a picture of your child in secret, without your permission, and then later you were surprised by the photo.

Oh, what a crowded couch...

And a quick video of Rumi getting moral support from his big brother, Mojito.   Mojito--the dog!--is providing moral support by way of being super tolerant while Rumi rubs against his head over and over.

Rumi needed moral support because he had to go to the emergency vet this week. (Terribly expensive, ugh.) But he is doing better so far and seems to be on the mend now. He has developed struvite crystals in his urinary tract and they have been causing him a lot of trouble and pain.

(From what I can tell, the video won't play on iphone. It also appears to be running by itself, in a loop. I didn't tell it to do that!)

Photo day

No new paintings to show yet. So here are some photos instead...

In the Indian state of Bihar: these construction guys in a very high distant window (zoomed here) were thrilled to find they were being noticed.

In the city of Patna.

Yesterday I took Rumi to the vet for his 1-yr. old vaccinations. Rumi is one year old this month! Can you guess, based on your knowledge of Rumi's personality, how he feels about going to the vet?

He loves it. Loves going in the car, loves the attention, loves having his heart listened to and his intestines palpated, loves meeting new people. They were calling in people from other rooms to come meet the zany white kitty. This photo was taken with my iPhone while I was driving (I know, dangerous but this photo had to be taken)--this is what it looked like in the passenger seat next to me:

From the archives: Rumi as a lanky young thing.

Today: a lazy Friday afternoon with some of the most beautiful weather the world has ever known.

Rumi cuddled up to The Husband: internet surfing by proxy. Rumi's little smile slays me.
