It's a rainy night. Been raining all day. Nice soft gentle rain. With the window open I hear the drops plopping on the leaves of the tree outside. Such a sleepy sound. Such a sleepy Java.
My big exertion of energy today was to take a LOT of clothes to the laundromat. You recall the grasshopper I pulled out of the washer on Wednesday? Well, the load of clothes I washed next never finished. The washing machine did the same thing it did last week. The latch broke. Something more than just the latch is causing the problem. I think. Superman says he's going to look at it. We can't afford the repair man again until after payday.
So I gathered some of the laundry. The stuff that was easy to access. Mostly clothes and bedding from Diva and Sproing's room, and the stuff that has been piling up in our bathroom. Superman wore his last pair of clean socks this morning. I've been commando most of the week. I shoved all those baskets into the van, stopped by the bank for some quarters, and went to the laundromat. Fun times.
I sorta kinda wanted to do the laundry this morning. But this morning I was so sleepy I just couldn't budge. I got up with the kids and took everyone to school. I came home, checked email, then took a nap. After I woke up from the nap I hauled the laundry out. But by then it was almost time for the kids to get out of school. I usually let the young'uns walk home from school, but today it was raining. I had time to load up the machines at the laundromat before zooming to get the kidlets. It was complicated and I'm too tired to write about it, but I ended up getting Superman from work then, too.
Meanwhile, back at the laundromat... Nine washers full of our laundry. Nine. At $2.50 per load. That's $22.50 to wash not even all the laundry we produce in a week. I wasn't going to spend any more money to dry the clothes, not when it cost so much to wash them and I have a perfectly good dryer at home. So Superman and Twitch helped me load the clean wet stuff back into the van. The dryer is running now. Superman will finish that up since I am too tired to hang with it tonight.
And now it is time for me to shut down the computer, turn out the light and go to sleep. Because I am that tired.

Man! Wet clothes weigh a ton....
Sweet dreams. Are you sure you don't have mono or something?
Remember WAY back when when Friday nights were the kick-ass night of the week? Oh, age.....it doesn't becometh me very well. Ugh.
I had intended a visit to the laundromat today, but ended up deferring for other things. Perhaps tomorrow morning I'll fit that in.
Nine loads of wash is a LOT of dryer time!!
Sweetie, we won't be able to afford the serviceguy after payday either. CPW and the van tax and the kids' field trip and the mortgage payment and three credit card bills and seven medical bills and so on, ad nauseum, will take up pretty much the whole check. That's why I'm going to try to fix it myself.
I'm sorry you're so wiped. I'm sorry you had a rough day. I missed you this evening. The kids went to bed with a minimum of fuss. Sproing got his back scratched for a good long while, and Diva got a bedtime story.
I've got (estimated) three loads left to dry. The one running now has about 20 minutes left. But when I swap that one out, I think I'll come to bed. Long day at the end of a looooong week. Productive ... but long.
I love you!
Concolor makes me very happy.
Sweet Java, sleep well.
sometimes, the most mundane and tiresome things help me see how much love i have.
Our trusty Maytag washer got its first repair this year. It's 25 years old. I told the repairman that the next one will also be a Maytag and he said,"It won't matter. No matter how much you pay, washers today will last only five or six years. They're all made out of plastic."
The latch on our dryer broke last week, and it won't run unless the door is closed. We're using a board pressed against the door until we get someone in. Next paycheck.
the only think i liked about laundromats was that laundry could be done in under 2 hours (if one got all the machines one needed) from wash to folding. then all that needed to happen was to put it away when we got home. if i ever win the lottery i'm going to have 3 washers and dryers.

I'm sorry your washer is on the fritz again. It cost us about $150 last time. It's been overcast here for three days and has been raining all day today. I'm tired too. Egads!
Your husband reads your blog?
I would die if mine ever did. It would immediately spell the end of it.
Doing laundry is the only chore I halfway enjoy... my clothes, the intimate companion of my body, come back from the dead.
But nine loads, at $2.50 apiece, of sodden clothing, carted home to dry would, well... (yawn) I'm getting sleepy...
Oh I just woke from a well deserved nap. wow laundry costs that much? I had no idea. Dam republicans!

Java, I have used these folks twice with GREAT results.
You buy the parts through them and they send you via e-mail instructions on how to fix what ever it is. The site is pretty user friendly.
Hope this can work for you. Sounds like hubby could do it in a flash.
Mimi! Thanks! This is great. Yes, my husband should be able to get this fixed right up.
Tried to email you, but couldn't find an email addy. Hope you see this.
Java, Your so very welcome, glad I could help!
I sent you an e-mail.
