Its back Its back

Girlie # 2's quilt from the quilting lady

looks fabulous and the binding was choosen tis afternoon now I just need a spare 3 days to get it sewn down.

The reproduction fabrics I have been lusting after also arrived at work today :) I am looking forward to cutting a metre of each for my stash and 3 fat eighths for Gumdrops, Mrs Helen and my sister :) :) :)

forgot to post this BEFORE the last post so

I'll be back in a while :)

Taking a break

not sure when I'll be back

there are MAJOR changes happening here and they aren't good.

Feeling sad, hurt and a tad lonely (if that makes sense) and very very angry and sad for my girlie's

I promise that all swap commitments will be kept.

my sewing will be all that keeps me sane over the next few months that and knowing that the girlie's, the cats and I will soon be home in Tassie.... and I am definitely counting down the days!

be back soon I hope :)

Winners

well the girlie's choir did they won

they roared into work this afternoon both trying to tell me the news at once, it was loud but they were soooo happy, DH had to go back to work so they stayed at the shop with me until he finished. I got home at 5:45ish then back out the door at 6.45 for Friday night sewing, I finished all the embroidery for A Christmas Story so some time over the weekend I might get a chance to quilt it.

Back into the shop in the morning to cut the final four blocks for the Playing With Angels BOM, then I am good to go I am using silk thread to applique with rumour has it that its the nicest thread to work with :)

Hubby has the next week off, I am doing a needleturn applique class with Robyne MacDonald called Secret Garden on Thursday and Friday with my boss, will be alot of fun and nice for us to be away from the shop for a couple of days, we also got word that the reproduction fabrics that I got to order are on the way, Judie Rothermal's 'Charleston' chocolate and pinks, very very yummy and I am looking forward to adding it to my reproduction pile, and to send some to Gumdrops, Mrs Helen and my sister, we are all doing a Dear Jane quilt, they are extremely slow works in progress, I have done 8 blocks in 12 months lol, I should be doing 1 a week so I am only 40 behind schedule lol and Gumdrops has done 1 in 6 months lol lol lol

Well have a great weekend

A Bad Mumma moment

You see I have slacked in the food department.

I need to confess that I haven't cooked a 'proper' meal for a week

tonight we went to the pub, it was very nice.

I am a bad mumma,

then to make it worse

the big girlie's are singing at the music festival in their school choir, I have to work.......I feel so bad cause they really wanted me there, but my boss is sick & having the day off so I really can't go........

On a good note

I have maybe 30 minutes max of backstitching on A Christmas Story and its ready to be basted and quilted :)

and today we had a very exciting parcel arrive.

All the patterns for Playing With Angels by Kookaburra Cottage, I get to make the shop sample so we selected, cut and packed all the fabric for blocks 1 & 2 today and tomorrow night I am making a start, as I have blanketstitch issues (can't do it) I am needle turning it, I am really looking forward to making it.

Oh big news with dh's work the CEO quit, and left the next day! and his work appointed a new harbour master, there was a very small pile of smouldering nickel in a shed which caused the port to shut, regardless of what the media reported, the shed is fine, unburnt and still in use was a long day for DH he was called in at 6am.

Girlie # 1 is loving violin lesson's

girlie # 2 is about to start guitar lessons

and I am so looking forward to watching girlie # 3 perform the finale they are dancing to Hip Hop Hoedown (I think) out of Hannah Montana the movie, I saw a bit yesterday and she was so cute roll on October.

No photos tonight sorry

Have a great Friday :)

Sick Puppy **Update**

Our naughty puppy Tanis is currently on his way to the after hours vet, he has something caught in his throat which he can't bring up or get down and he is spitting up blood. Can you please keep our naughty puppy in your prayers, even though he is very naughty we do love him (oh and that it won't bankrupt us with the cost lol)

Thanks Girls

He's back feeling very sore and groggy and is sleeping it off on his bed in the garage. He had been eating a bone which broke and got stuck on a tooth, which then cut his tongue open hence all the blood sedation, 7 stitches in his tongue, antibiotics and $330 later he's back.....

A Christmas Story

the blue square with nothing on it has to have its applique put on tonight and I have to finish the embroidery on the wreath, (bottom left hand side) which is also tonights job,

I am going to stitch in the ditch around each applique block on the beast then do a small bit of hand quilting just to finish it off, which will begin tomorrow night at sewing.

I am so happy with the final outcome, this might just even make an appearance in the patchwork section of the local show I am trying to be convinced.

The girlies love it and even DH was a little impressed and he even knew that it was a wall hanging not a lap quilt, my man is learning lol :)

Sorry its so small can anyone tell me how to get the photo to open in another window when you click on it, cause I have no idea.

but TA DA lol

Its Finished

its finished its finished

I spent the day at work sewing it together because after a sleep in this morning, I had just made my FIRST coffee of the day when people arrived to do some yard work, now I don't have an issue with that, but I do have an issue with them arriving un announced, we may just be the tenants but we do have rights, like NOTICE that anyone is coming out to the house to do anything, so I showered, dressed, gathered my sewing gear locked the house and drove to the real estate with a please explain I am pleased to say that it won't happen again, then I asked about getting a 5 month lease in return for us bring some of the owners boxes in the containers with our life when we go home in Jan, (they moved to Tasmania when we moved here) the real estate think it will be a no, as they want the house sold ASAP and tenants and leases don't appeal to many people but its worth a try.

Fingers Crossed

Now no photo of the quilt top yet, sorry I know I promised but I have only just finished it so I will put one up in the morning if I get time.

Have a great day

Its over

my need to hand quilt that is

After much prompting from DH about girlie # 2's quilt which harry decided made a fabulous bed, I took it to UFO day at work yesterday and came to the conclusion that if I continued to hand quilt it, girlie # 2 would more than likely be married with children BEFORE it was finished so.......I unpicked the little amount that I had done and its going home with the quilting lady for her to do on her long arm machine and frame. Having said that small projects will be hand quilted if the need arises but no more big whopping quilts.

I feel much happier with that decision and so was girlie # 2.

Otherwise I have been working very very hard on A Christmas Story and I am thrilled to announce that I am up to the putting it together stage :)

Ta Da Block A and block B together and I am working on block C oops there's Harry cat sneaking in for a look lol

Its been a slight challenge as I enlarged the pattern so I am having to add lil strips here and there so the blocks all fit together, this time tomorrow night it WILL BE TOGETHER as I don't have to work tomorrow so there will be a mammoth sewing day happening.
Its back to the beast for me, I will be sure to share a picture tomorrow night of the completed TOP woo hoo
so close yet so far lol

Girlie # 2's Seminole block (this is the one I am making in class) the fabric is from

The Lakehouse collection very very yummy

Girlie # 3's Seminole block ;) I have since taking this photo cut the strips and I am ready to start sewing and cutting

the fabric for girlie's 1 & 3's quilts is from Classic Garden

I have 2 more blocks to do for a Christmas story so they are on the weekends stitching agenda, Saturday is UFO day at the shop, so I am taking girlie # 2's quilt so I can get more of the hand quilting done, dh has started to ask when I am going to finish it too....such pressure lol

have a great Friday :)

Am I crazy

maybe you shouldn't ask me that....

but tonight I am thinking YEP you've finally lost it lol

you see I have gatecrashed the intermediate patchwork classes at work, and I decided that instead of doing just ONE sampler quilt....I would do.....3 one for each girlie all the same pattern just different fabrics

yesterday's class was a Seminole block which I finished last night, tonight at Wednesday night sewing I made Seminole number 2, tomorrow night I am making Seminole number 3

but they look great and I LOVE the fabrics I chose and I will share photo of all 3 blocks when the 3rd is finished.

I get to sleep in tomorrow I am not needed at work until 11ish its going to be a morning of housework though :(

ohhh and excitement for girlie # 1 she has her first violin lesson on Friday and tomorrow I will chase up guitar lessons for girlie # 2 luckily the music ship is next door to work, and I might just invest in a pair of earplugs for the daily practise session lol

Well as its now 11:57pm WST I guess I had better go to bed

Have a fabulous day whatever you may be doing and fingers crossed I will have 3 Seminole blocks to share tomorrow night...fingers crossed.

A very scary thought......

but such relief that it won't happen

dh and I both admitted today that maybe another little baby in the family would be nice......

but neither of us want to go through a month or longer of hormones, blood tests, surgery, waiting for the embryo maker to call with numbers, waiting to see if it worked, not to mention the ultra 'scare me whitless' thought of childbirth even though I don't have long labours I still don't enjoy the process especially as I have had to have all the kids without any kind of drug, well we tried gas with the littlest girlie but it just made the nurses, dh and I laugh, it leaked! So the judges decision has come in the results were NO BABIES but how weird that we were both thinking of expanding the family

Otherwise I now have 2 blocks left of A Christmas Story to do yippee, I only have months 3-7 of the pies and tarts to do, my lil car is off for new tyres tomorrow dh will drop me at work, and I am starting the intermediate patchwork class at work too in between serving customers lol. Its offical dh finishes his job December 31st :) so we are out of here mid January our quotes have all arrived and they are no where near as scary as I thought they would be, the weird thing is our 2 containers left Tassie on a container ship that ran from Burnie to Freemantle, going home they rail it to Melbourne load them onto a truck and bring it across on the ferry! but its faster on the train/ferry than the Burnie/Freeo ship run. weird but true

We spent the weekend mowing and whipper snipping here such fun I am not allowed to whipper snip I ringbark trees and kill them (oops) so I got the ride on job instead, but then I don't do hills, slopes they FREAK ME OUT and this coming weekend we have a date with Mr Round Up.

Henry cat hasn't tried to go outside ONCE since his late night last week and Harry has learnt to jump, well leap from the table onto the bench he still has issues when it comes to jumping from the floor up, but he is working it out. Harry is the dearest not so little fat cat now if Henry would stop pinning him down and biting him all would be good, mind you having an uber long tail doesn't help the issue its just tooo tempting for Henry to ignore.

So I know that it's another photoless post, I will have to rectify that in my next post, have a great photo of the naughty puppy sunbaking yesterday,

Have a great day

He's A Dirty Stopout!

the boys were let out at 3pm, Harry was back inside by 5pm but not Henry

no

Henry decided that he wanted a night out on the town and he casually wandered home 11:30pm!

Then he was obviously feeling a tad insecure after his evening out so he proceeded to sleep on my pillow all night with Harry as close to him as I would allow.

So today Henry has been grounded for an indefinite period of time!

So while I waited for Henry to return I got the last of 'A Christmas Story' quilt blocks ready for applique-ing I can't believe I only have 4 to go before its ready to be put together yippee. I have loved doing this quilt and have decided to do An Angels Story Quilt when this one is finished I am enjoying my nights on the couch watching tv in the warm.

Well I had best start making some progress with the housework

Have a great day and keep smiling :)

An Invitation

to a Tug Naming ceremony.

Made me LOL but then I realised that DH was very serious, an 'elite' group has been invited, DH, myself, the acting harbour master his partner and his boss, so I have organised the girlie's for the afternoon (thanks Toni and Danny)and I am off to see what its all about. I'll share some photos but I have to remember the camera for that so wish me luck, there was also talk about jumping from the big island catamaran onto the tug I am sure dh was just tricking well I hope he was lol I don't have good tug jumping legs lol

otherwise today is the same old same old, work but dancing free due to the Tug thingie :)

I do know that my least favourite customer is coming in today she asked when I was working and said she needed to see me.....I am afraid and buying Vick's on the way to work to put under my nose (think CSI) to assist with the offensive stench that follows her and seriously its bad enough to warrant the Vick's.....and a bucket. if I could get a hazmat mask I would oooh its bad, and sad she is a lovely lady and makes gorgeous quilts but HAVE A SHOWER EVERY DAY please lol.

well I best get a wriggle on or I will be late for work.......

have a fabulous day and I hope the sun is shining :)

ETA do you think that 'An Angel Story' could be done with needleturn applique instead of blanket stitch?? Anni did her quilt using blanket stitch but blanket stitch and I are just not compatible so opinions please

Posted

Chookyblue start stalking your letterbox next week, your goodies are winging/trucking their way across the Nullabor to your house :) How exciting

Was a great feeling to get it in the mail ON TIME, although I did nearly forget in the rush to find dancing clothes, shoes and drink bottles lol, but YAY me I remembered

Off to work today I have half the binding to sew down on a quilt for the big quilting weekend that is happening this month before I can get back to my 'Christmas story' quilt and my crocheting fingers crossed its quiet at work and I can get it done, I wanna crochet tonight.....lol

Have a fabulous day everyone

The Great Orange Hunter

Yesterday Henry cat managed to get outside for some fresh air and a bit of exercise read he escaped

Now Henry has only been allowed out since christmas time as he really is an inside cat, but seeing as we are on acreage with no major vehicle traffic I relented BUT after yesterday he is once again under close supervision because he bought home a present for us, that present was a baby dugite snake thank heavens I wasn't home when he dropped his present off but the girlies said that daddy moved really fast to get it back outside and to keep the boys from playing with it and Henry was most disgusted that his present wasn't warmly received lol.

Luckily my baby boy wasn't bitten by it dh said that its mouth was tiny and wouldn't have been able to get his mouth through the fur so it obviously was a newish baby but really WTH was Henry thinking bringing a snake into the house by its tail....... sheesh he is a worry.

Other than the grat orange hunter doing his thing its been a quiet weekend, I have started to crochet a blanket for our couch, I have been drooling over the pattern on Ravelry for a few months and finally bit the bullet last week and bought it, and after lots of giggling and unpulling on Friday night at sewing I managed to get the hang of the stitches lol and they are soooo hard too, the crochet bible calls it Double Square tricky when you have NEVER mastered the art of crochet, my first few attempts resulted in a hexagon shape, then a ruffled square, but I have now mastered the Double Square, its made with 50, 2 round squares, 49, 4 round squares,16, 6 round squares, 7, 8 round squares, 2, 10 round squares and 2 12 round squares, so far I have done

21- 2 round squares
9 - 4 rounds squares
1 - 6 round
1 - 8 round
and I have almost done the 1st 10 round, this could take me a while lol

my colours are 3 shades of brown and a green, love the colours and it will look fab if I manage to finish it, I am aimong to get it done THIS YEAR so can someone please nag me every now and again to get crocheting.

Plans for this week are we have the last removalist arriving tomorrow for a quote, I am going to the post office to mail Chookyblue her prizes and her birthday fat quaters, I am working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Friday is a home to do the housework day. Otherwise its the same old same old here, dancing, gymnastics, groceries and hopefully no more snake catching lol

Have a great week everyone :)
