Weekly Update 21/6

The last stitches were made on Green Tea and Sweet Beans

Ta Da in all its hand quilted glory

Binding is ready

I've made hexagons, 64 of them for my Amitie Mystery BOM

These girlies turned 14

Their cake, they loved it which is all that matters right

My new mug given to me by an absolutely gorgeous Quilty friend

I've finished 1 hexagon border, only 3 more to go.

The next 2 quilts to be basted, Friends for Christmas and my Scrap Vomit lap quilt

I had to use the boardroom table at the hubster work 

All prepped and ready for me start the hand quilting which will begin as soon as I've finished the binding on Green Tea and Sweet Beans. I'm not using pearle cotton this time, I've chosen to use a verigated brown Signature thread by YLI

Today (Tuesday) I'm taking Miss E and 2 others to referee a PSSA soccer game 1 hr away, the things we do for our kids, Miss E asked was I taking my sewing, I sure am I plan on finishing off Green Tea and Sweet Beans so I can start Friends for Christmas tonight, yay that she allows me to stitch while I watch. 

1 more week of school then it's holiday time, we are heading to Melbourne for a week and we are all looking forward to the break, that means 2 weekends of no soccer, I am so ready for a break from soccer, my feet and hips are so painful after an 8 hour day in the canteen. A hazard of getting older I think, and yes I'm old, the combined ages of my kids is 66 years and 3 months, now that makes me feel old. By the time Imogen finishes year 12 I will have been paying school fees, making lunches and going to parent teacher interviews for 27 years... Which is how old my son will be next year, that's just crazy.

Weekly Update

Henrycat tried so hard to make himself comfortable

as I was doing some quilting on Saturday afternoon

Saturday night he worked out if he hopped under he could stay in comfort

My thumb was so painful from the needle so I invested in some of

these rubber things, they do have a technical name but I call them

'bank teller' thimbles

Getting closer every day to having Green Tea and Sweet Beans

stitching the borders began this week

I have echo stitched all four borders first round is coloured then 2 rows of

ecru, its looking so good

still going, this was yesterday

henry in recovery mode, I accidentally shut him in the shower at 8:30 and

then found him again at 11:30, he wasn't a happy camper and this is how 

he recovered

Last Week/This Week

Monday I ate Malteasers, drank almost cold coffee and read Sundays paper

I worked on some blocks for The Circle Game

I made some templates for more blocks for The Circle Game

I fondled some gorgeous fabrics that came to live with me, 

Gardenvale by Jen Kingwell and True Colours by Tula Pink

I worked on another block for The Circle Game

and finished it

On Friday I was given a very quick lesson on hand quilting at my sewing group

and Im still quilting away at night

Saturday and Sunday were spent at a soccer tournament, I was official scorer, so while the games were on I kept on stitching

This really tickled my fancy on Sunday morning as we were headed to soccer at 7:30am

Sunday afternoon saw Henry take up residence on my lap, under my quilt, its rather tricky to hand quilt with a cat on your lap

but I persevered

making good progress, this was Monday

Mondays amazing Sunset, we don't usually see the sunset here at our house

I will be honest I laughed, a lot at this

yesterday I took a trip to Bega for template plastic and some more pearl 8 cotton, the shop had just changed the brand of the pearl cotton they sell and have 3 baskets full of cottons being sold for $2 a ball, I decided to introduce some orange into my quilt, I will be going back to buy all the colours

I have half of the quilt, quilted as of today (Thursday 10/6)

today I cleaned up my sewing room, sorted fabrics and filled a basket of scrap pieces 

they are now being cut so I can make scrap vortex quilt
