our class rules....christmas concert rules...

So tonight as Hank was getting ready for bed we were talking about his christmas concert tomorrow evening. He had already made a few phone calls to confirm people's attendence. For sure for sure for sure!

The basics of the rules are:
No talking
No moving around
You can move if the person in front of you is taller then you are!
The kids have to bow.....I AM NOT ALLOWED TO BOW!

If any of these rules are broken during the concert then it is 20 yep 20 extra laps.

So here is what I figured.....I should bow when he bows to me, I mean isn't that a custom somewhere. So we decided that if I did this then I would be breaking a rule and Mrs F would make me do 20 laps. I am going to get some other family members to participate (maybe). I told Hank since he was in Mrs. F class and not us then he would probably have to do our laps. He figured it out and will most likely have to be doing an extra 60 laps on Wednesday.

Then I asked him how he remembers all these rules. Because when I tell him rules he doesn't seem to remember them, like no head diving off the couch. He has been asking for about a week what "program" means. He wants to understand why his video game does what it tells you to, why the computer does certain things, he has the cell phone figured out. So I suggested that Mrs F must have a computer cable that she plugs into his belly button while he is at school and she programs all of this information into his brain that is why he remembers it so well.

NOW I have to ask a teacher tomorrow if she really does plug my son in during the day...he dared me to ask.

Grandpa B

Here is Grandpa's birthday party at the school. He is the special person for the fourth grade, and the kindergarten class was able to join in for the cake and Ice Cream. Dad, Andrew and I also went. Just so Dad could keep an eye on Grandpa's Stories.

Grandpa B Birthday

I am going to post this even though I don't have any pictures to add right now.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDPA B!

I sometimes sit in awe that I still have so many grandparents around to share in my life. Our family is lucky enough to be blessed with such awesome people to build memories with.

Some of my favorite Grandpa B memories:
  • Singing german songs on the way up to Bear Lake
  • Riding in the back of his old truck all the way up Logan canyon, with Carole sitting in front because she would get sick
  • Ice skating at the ponds after grandpa cleaned them off
  • Shovel rides across the ice
  • wheelbarrow rides around quist
  • learning how to paint the "right" way
  • Learning how to do everything the "right" way
  • Ironing his shirts during the summer when we would be watched by grandma and grandpa
  • Trying to fall asleep during MASH so his snoring wouldn't keep us awake
  • watching him sing a song to Hank in german when Hank was so small
  • dressing up for halloween and visiting his school with him
  • hearing stories of how stubborn he was as a little boy

There are so many more memories that I have. All I can say is that I am lucky to be his granddaughter and Hank is lucky to have him as a Great Grandpa!

Our christmas Tree

We went with Uncle Bri and Aunt Kim to get our christmas trees this year. Hank wanted them to go since it is a tradition now.

Hank loves getting on top of the car. He can climb out through the moon roof and hang out on top. He was trying to get Bri's attention so he finally came over to help him get down.

Aunt Kim is in trouble in another year or two!Our perfect tree is the one closest to my face.
Bri and Kim's Perfect Tree!
Just a little stop off at Starbuck's for some Hot Chocolate. Although most of us purchased regular hot chocolate someone had to go for the Special blended hot chocolate (not Hank) Beleive me it isn't worth the extra $1 (told ya Bri!)
Two men doing the manly part of putting up the tree!
THANK YOU UNCLE BRIANT!

Vegas

So I went to vegas for the Department of Ed conference. It was a lot of meetings and not too much fun. But the fountains at Bellagio were pretty awesome. Too bad I didn't know the rodeo was going to be there or I could have gotten tickets and had a little more fun :) I only gambled $30 and lost it.

Hurt Toe

I was walking through our little hallway and kicked Hanks box of blocks so hard I thought I possibly broke my little toe. I hobbled into the living room and sat down. Hank was concerned so he came over and squished it and kissed it. Later on I said wow my toe really hurts! He looked at me with a serious face and said you have two choices mom 1. go to the doctor 2. massage your toe. "since you took the massage classes you should do the massage because you can do it better mom, I can try if you want me to".

All this made me think about how lucky I am that Hank is so down to earth and honest. I love how smart he is!

Our Thanksgiving

First we went to Mom's house and had breakfast with Grandma and Grandpa Great, Mom, Bri and Kim. Hank had a lot of fun playing with Uncle Briant and it was fun to watch them.

THEN.... we went to Uncle Art's house and Hank had a great time playing with all of Uncle Art's toys. I don't think pick up sticks will ever be the same! It was nice to hang out with everybody.

At one point Grandpa B was asleep and Hank went up to him and pounded on the pillow in his lap three times really quickly and woke him up. It was hilarious! I think that both of them enjoyed playing with Uncle Art's tops.

Just a little update on Aunt Kim...she has a little (tiny) belly. I wasn't able to capture it for Abby and Emily very well but it is there! You guys will be able to see it at christmas.

Thankful

I have had a hard time keeping up on posting on the blog. Guess life just gets too busy sometimes. Then I try to remind myself to slow it down and stop and enjoy. I have been doing this more lately and have found that I love the time I get to spend when life has slowed down a little bit. So in the spirit of Thanksgiving here are a few of the things that I am thankful for this year.

1. Hank
2. My Family
3. My health
4. Ability to work
5. Spending time with Hank that is not rushed

I am sure I can think of a hundred more but the important thing is that I am thankful that I am living and enjoying my time with an awesome five year old!

PTL...Guitar Hero

So I just wanted to post some pics of the great stage that my brother and dad helped set up for the guitar hero tournament that the PTL did for fellowship night last Saturday. It was so much fun. Exhausting but fun.

PTL Meeting

So I was at a parent teacher league meeting last night and guess what! I volunteered to be the co-president for next year. I think I am crazy and I will be hitting up all of my friends and family for suggestions on organizing different events and for getting the other parents involved. I will have to get more parent involvement so that I have people to delegate too.

It will be fun and I have already been so involved this year that it won't really be that much more work (hopefully!)

Girlfriend or Future wife?

So I asked Hank the other night if he played with his girlfriend at school.

Me: Did you and E play today?
Hank: Yeah
Me: Did you hold her hand?
Hank: Yes, Mom E said she is going to marry me, but I am NOT going to marry her
Me: (after I was out of shock) When is she marrying you?
Hank: Not until we are a little bit older
Me: Well you have to wait until you are both done with school, college too. Maybe until you are about thirty.

I just couldn't beleive it! I guess since this is his second girlfriend that I am going to be in a lot of trouble. I spoke with E grandma and she was shocked at how much they play together becuase E is such a girly girl. But Hank will play almost anything.

Fall = Leaves

Hank and I had a great time cleaning up the leaves that had fallen. He is great with the leaf blower.

Congratulations to my Brother

So I know that I am having a new Niece or Nephew.... (I know but won't tell their story)

I am so excited and I wanted to congratulate my brother and his wife. They are going to be awesome parents and I am glad that they have been a part of Hanks life.

November already.

I can't beleive that it is already November. Time has just flown by this year. I had Hank's first Parent Teacher conference on Halloween, and he is doing great. The teacher said he likes to think outside the box. Imagine that! We are getting our second snow here in the valley today and I am excited for winter to begin. Hank helped grandpa get the snow plow running last night and he is excited to help use it this year. And I am happy that he is big enough to help more with the shoveling also. Hank and I played video games last night and it is fun to see how he tries to win and then just adjusts quickly to losing and goes for being the most horrible driver in the cars game. I am grateful that he only likes to play video games once in awhile. Not much else to blog about. I am excited for Thanksgiving coming up and we have to get out our decorations soon.

Best Costume Winner

Hank won best costume in the Kindergarten class today. The Schools student council watched all the grades do a little parade this morning and then chose one from each class. He was proud of himself. I was shocked!

This was his Prize!

"nothing"

When I got to work this morning someone asked me what I did this weekend. My standard reply was nothing. Then I came back to my office and realized I did a lot and I am not giving myself credit for it.
Friday - After I picked Hank up at noon we went home he watched a show on TV and I sewed more of the Lion costume, and then took a little nap. Then I took him out to Grandpas house. I went to the Trunk or Treat for about a half hour, then helped Grandma get over there. Then off to graduation ceremonies for my work. That ended about 8:45. We went home and he put in a movie to watch. I went to the vacant apartment in Quist and spent two hours cleaning the kitchen and stacking all the stuff by the door to haul out of there.
Saturday - Hank had gymnastics at 11:00, afterward we went home and I cleaned the Bathroom at the vacant apartment. Hauled the remainder of stuff out, there were a lot of tools and cleaning supplies. We took a nap (my favorite part of weekends!) Then we ran over to Bri and Kims house to say Hi. Then went grocery shopping, $160 later we finally got home and had to put everything away. I worked on a Lion costume and homework.
Sunday - Dishes which I totally HATE! Scrubbed our bathroom, four loads of laundry. Then we cleaned the car, Hank scrubbed the rugs and was in charge of the vacuum. I cleaned windows and interior. Sewed more on the Lion costume. Cuddled on the couch and watched old Popeye shows with Hank. Gave him his bath, read him a book and tried to get him to go to sleep. Then I did some more homework.

So that is my weekend of "nothing" Maybe next weekend I will do "something"

This morning

I have to post this story, mostly so I don't forget because it was just so sweet.

On the way to school this morning Hank said I am hungry mom. He never eats breakfast, I try and we waste so much food that I stopped forcing him. So anyway I had made us PB&J sandwiches for lunch, so I got mine out and told him to eat however much he wanted. When we got to the school I asked him if he was full enough. He said yeah then started to break the sandwich in half. I asked what he was doing, because he can't take food into class with him. He said he was giving me half for my lunch and half for his. So sweet! I explained that he had a round PB&J sandwich in his lunch box already but if he wanted half of mine he could. Then he apologized for eating my sandwich and offered me his. I told him that it was totally OK and I could get something else if I needed to.

Just had to share. I can't beleive how thoughtful and kind he is, it amazes me every day.

Football Game

Bri, Kim and Hank walking up to the game.
I finally bought tickets for Hank and I to attend a game at the U of U. He was so excited and I was so surprised that he lasted the whole game! Aunt Kim got called away to work so it was just Bri Hank and myself. At the end of the first quarter Hank asked "where is Kim" I guess he thought we just left her outside the stadium and she would be in shortly. We didn't sit in the seats I purchased or in Bri and Kims seats, we found another row pretty close and were able to sit together.

Hank and Bri at the end of the game

Uncle Bri so serious

Hank hanging out under the seats so he would be out of the sun. He is CHEERING! not crying.
Hank finally got his Churro!

He loved his big finger!
It is really FAR down to the ground!

Thank you Uncle Bri for helping and entertaining at the Game! We missed you Aunt Kim! Next year we will have to go again.
