Ten Years After guitarist Lee teamed up with gospel crooner LeFevre for a session that could be best described as hard spiritual rock. The 1973 album features guest shots from George Harrison, Stevie Winwood, Ronnie Wood, and Jim Capaldi, among others. Alvin Lee known for his lightning fast licks on guitar, soulful bluesy tunes and amazing live performances throws us a curve ball with his first solo album. Much more mellow and melodic than his work with Ten Years After, but with great feeling and depth. He shares the vocalist duties with American gospel singer Mylon LeFevre and Mylon also belts out some very nice songs of his own.

Ten Years After é uma banda de blues-rock Inglês, o mais popular no final dos anos 1960 e início dos anos 1970. Entre 1968 e 1973, Ten Years After marcou oito Top 40 álbuns no UK Albums Chart. Além disso, eles tiveram doze álbuns entrar no Billboard E.U. 200,  e são mais conhecidos por suas músicas "I'm Going Home", "Hear Me Calling", "I'd Love To Change the World" and "Love Like a Man". 
Após vários anos de sucesso local na área de Nottingham Mansfield / como uma banda conhecida desde 1962 como The Jaybirds (seu núcleo foi formado no final de 1960 como Ivan Jay and the Jaycats), e mais tarde como Ivan Jay and the Jaymen, Ten Years After foi fundada por Alvin Lee, Leo Lyons. Ivan Jay vocalista partir do final de 1960-1962 e se juntou a Ric Lee em agosto de 1965, substituindo o baterista Dave Quickmire, que havia substituído Pete Evans em 1962. Em 1966, The Jaybirds se mudou para Londres, onde Chick Churchill se juntou ao grupo. O grupo se tornou o primeiro ato reservado pelo soon-to-be Agência Chrysalis. Ele conseguiu uma residência no Marquee Club, e recebeu um convite para tocar no Festival de Jazz de Windsor, em 1967. Esse desempenho levou a um contrato com Dram, uma subsidiária da Decca - a primeira banda assim assinado sem um único hit. Em outubro de 1967 seu álbum de estréia auto-intitulado foi lançado.
Em 1968, depois da turnê na Escandinávia e nos Estados Unidos, Ten Years After lançou seu segundo álbum, Undead ao vivo, que trouxe a canção notável "I'm Going Home". Isto foi seguido em fevereiro de 1969, através da emissão de estúdio Stonedhenge, um sucesso britânico, que incluía um outro bem conhecido faixa, "Hear Me Calling" (que foi lançada também como single, e coberta em 1972 pelo glam rock britânico estrelas em ascensão, Slade). Em julho de 1969, o grupo apareceu no Newport Jazz Festival, no primeiro evento de bandas de rock que foram convidados. Em agosto, a banda realizou um grande avanço aparência americano em Woodstock, a sua interpretação de "I'm Going Home", com Alvin Lee como vocalista, foi destaque tanto no cinema como a subseqüente e trilha sonora e catapultou-los ao status de estrela.
Durante 1970, Ten Years After lançado "Love Like a Man", o grupo é só bater no UK Singles Chart.  Esta canção estava no quinto álbum da banda, Cricklewood Green.  O nome do álbum vem de uma amigo do grupo que viveu em Cricklewood, em Londres. Ele cresceu numa espécie de planta que foi dito ter efeitos alucinógenos. A banda não sabia o nome desta planta, para que os membros chamado álbum Cricklewood Green. Foi o primeiro registro a ser emitido com uma velocidade de jogo diferentes em cada lado - uma uma edição de três minutos a 45 rpm, o outro, uma versão de nove minutos ao vivo em 33rpm. Em agosto de 1970, Ten Years After tocou Strawberry Fields Festival perto de Toronto, e na Ilha de Wight Festival 1970.
Em 1971, a banda lançou o álbum A Space in Time, que marcou um passo em direção a um material mais comercial.  É apresentado o maior hit do grupo, "I'd Love To Change The World". Mas a banda se separou depois de 1974  álbum  Positive Vibrations. Os membros re-unidos em 1983 para tocar no Reading Festival, e esse desempenho foi posteriormente lançado em CD como The Rock Show sexta-feira Sessions - Live At Reading '83 '. Em 1988, os membros se reuniram para alguns shows e gravou o álbum About Time (1989). Finalmente, em 1994, eles participaram do festival Eurowoodstock em Budapeste.
Alvin Lee, desde então, principalmente tocado e gravado em seu próprio nome. Em 2004, os outros membros da banda substituiu por Joe Gooch, e gravou o álbum, Agora,. Material da turnê seguinte foi utilizado para o álbum de 2005 de casal, Roadworks. Ric Lee está atualmente em uma banda chamada The Breakers, juntamente com Ian Ellis (ex-Clouds).
