a chain forged in life

Cover for a Lobster Johnson one-shot drawn by Troy Nixey -- this one stayed pretty close to the original watercolor thumbnail:

I got the go-ahead to overlap the Lobster over the title, so design plays a crucial role on this one. Here's a rough mockup of the final version:

a lobster, a floating head, and a beast of the apocalypse walk into a bar...

The three sketches I hid last week at The Beguiling, in Toronto, for #artdropday. Two of them are still there.

too many light sources

a few bits from this week's life drawing. the model was in a cosplay outfit, which made quick watercolors a good choice for getting the big shapes down. these were all pretty fast and sloppy - 10-20 minutes each - but it was still a lot of fun.
