Painting up a Knight titan maniple in service to the dreaded Deathguard gave me a huge opportunity  to stretch out my weathering legs and have a good run around. The main body of the armour has been given a rusted worn look by using a combination of hairspray chipping, sponge chipping and good old fashioned brush work. All this complimented with weathering powder gives the effect of an aged vehicle that has stood on a hundred worlds.

The freehand images are in line with  Deathguard iconography. The deaths head, the reaper, the eagle's bone lying on rotted green field all harken back to the rot of Father Nurgle.

I must admit, the Freeblade app has got me really pumped for knights. Shall we have a week of nothing but knights? That should start off 2016 on the right foot.

I bought this force when the dark eldar were released upon the world for the second time. I remember flicking through the small, blurry leaked images with a mounting sense of excitement. Who knew that between Phil Kelly and Jes Godwin they would craft a masterpiece. With the dawning of a new era for the dark kin it felt like the right time to let these go. Unlike my other commissioned works that have hit eBay the money from this will be put into my hobby fund (that is exactly £0.00 at the moment) and not on boring things like council tax. I already have designs on a new Dark Eldar force that should consume the majority of my life if I ever were to attempt it.

I painted these models in true metallics - a bit of  change from the usual edge highlighted forces I saw being produced at the time. I wanted the army to look like an envenomed blade poised to strike. The sails on the raiders were painted as if they were ripping windows into reality, revealing the cold stars behind.

I've added resin bases for the troops. I like to think that the Haemonculus releases a psychotropic hallucinogen  into the atmosphere before a raid, so those that the Dark Eldar are attacking see the skulls press up above the surface of the world. This a a little visual que to your opponent for the game - my Dark Eldar have drugged you, that's why you can see the skulls.

It's sad to see a personal collection go but it's invigorating to actually have a potential nest egg for a new army. I have a few ideas what it may be - do you have any suggestions?
