Update

I found a solution... for now. Here's what I did: I left their binkys on the binki clip. Strangulation hazard you say? I know. I just did it long enough for them to fall asleep. Once they are asleep, they're out cold so I went in & swapped the binki clip binky for a non-attached binky. They fell asleep quickly with no game to keep them up. I feel good about this. I feel anxiety free. And I didn't have to spend $120. Although I still think those crib tents would be marvelous.

I need a couple of these

My children are driving me crazy. EVERY time I put them to bed, the throw their binkies out. It's a game. Yeah, yeah, I know... then take away their binkies. NO. End of discussion. Nathan isn't as bad but Alexa... holy crap... I'm going insane. She just stands up, throws her binkies out & squeals. WILL NOT SLEEP. I would buy these but they're like $60 each! Yikes! Fun times with 1 year olds... fun times.

Nanny

Image
This is my adorable firecracker of a niece, Savannah (a.k.a. Nanny), and her mom, Jennie Jo. Nanny had sugery this week to remove an infection resulting from the MRSA strand of staff. She was such a champ and is doing extremely well! It made me so sad that she had to go through this. Savannah is such a sweetheart. She can make anyone's day better with her adorable smile and whit. She gives hugs & kisses freely & always greets me by either saying "Hi Alisha" or "Hi Amy!" (she gets us Aunts confused!) with a smile on her face. I just love this little red-headed munchkin & is so glad she's feeling better!

Busy Busy Busy

I feel like I've been so busy lately that this blog has just been a place to dump pictures to keep everyone happy. While that's great, I feel like it's kinda lame too. I don't want to have a boring blog!!! Having two little mobile pre-toddlers is keeping me so so so busy. One thing that is AWESOME about their age is that they're starting to play together. That helps. It also creates chaos because they are little partners in crime. I also feel like I can't get caught up on anything because of the trips we've taken. I'm not complainin'-- I loved going-- but it takes so long to get caught up, doesn't it? I feel like I run run run... anyway, here are some other things that have been keeping me busy: Work . For those who don't know, I got a part time job maintaining 2 web sites for business related magazines. It's been a great source of a little extra income but it's also just one more thing to do each day. I also still tutor ma...

My Big One Year Olds

Image
We had a lot of fun festivities for Nathan & Alexa's 1st Birthday! On the actual day, we had a little lunch party for them at my parent's in Utah. They of course LOVED their special cakes. Nathan dug right in but the princess she is, Alexa just chose to lick the frosting & not get her fingers dirty. I love that picture of Alexa on the bottom left because you can see her 2 front teeth that have come in! Such silly babies! While in Utah, Aunt Amanda ran over to Layton Park with us to snap some one year pictures. Our photo shoot was cut short by the rain but we got what we needed! I really wish we could have done more by the flowers but that's when the rain came, darn it! The final birthday celebration just happened this past Sunday at the Oldroyd's. We did a combined party since my birthday was on the 18th. All 3 of us were spoiled with presents & treats but the best part was having ALL of the Oldroyd clan there along with Aunt Jenae! I'm experienc...

1 Year Check Up

Image
Nathan & Alexa had their 1 Year Well-Check today with their new pediatrician, Dr. K. We all REALLY liked her & hope that we stay with her as long as we're in Texas! I'm so sick of filling out all of the new patient paperwork! Here are their stats: Nathan: 20 lbs. 4 oz. (12th%), 29 in. long (19th%) (I think he's actually longer...) and 71st% for his head. Alexa: 17 lbs. 12 oz. (4th%), 28 1/2 in. long (24th%) and 58th% for her head. The shots didn't go too well... Alexa was REALLY mad. But all in all, it was a good appointment!

One Year Old Today!

Image
My sweet little babies are ONE YEAR OLD today! I just can't believe it! I'll post more pictures later but I couldn't let this day end without recognizing this important event. This last year has truly been the happiest & most fulfilling time in my life. Nathan & Alexa have brought unmeasurable joy into our family. I have loved being a mother. I often heard mothers say that they were so caught up in the difficulty of having young babies that they didn't take the time to enjoy each stage. So much change happens in the first year of life; more than any other time. I never wanted to regret not enjoying those little stages. While I have not been perfect, I truly have enjoyed the first year. Getting them here was difficult but I have been blessed many times over for those trials. Nathan & Alexa are such a gift. Happy birthday my sweet angels!

What a WONDERFUL evening

Saturday evening my new sister-in-law to be went through the Jordan River Temple & received her endowments. It was such a wonderful & spiritual experience for our family. I am so grateful for temples & for our eternal family. I am so excited for my brother to be marrying such a wonderful person. She is kind, loving, GORGEOUS & good with my kids. Welcome to the family Hilary! Thank you for allowing us to share in such a special day! I
