K's bag

K's two requests for his birthday were a wooden crane truck and a sewing machine. He has been playing with both non stop. So far k has made a pillow and a bag.

Baby's birthday banner

I finished baby L's birthday banner. It turned out pretty great. I'll post a bigger picture later. This post is also a little excitement in posting from my phone.

stockings

I made our family Christmas stockings this year.  As you might notice they match L's new pants. :)  I used the fronts of the sweaters to make the stockings.  The letters are made from wool felted sweaters that I blanket stitched on.  I love the sweaters that still have the buttons on them. :)

pond update

K and I have been working hard on our pond habitat.  K helped me sew lilly pads on the water.  We also made a little fishing pole for the gnome.  I'm hoping to make a little fisherman soon.  We also just made the little dock out of twigs we found on a walk.
I still plan on making a little row boat with oars, more fish, and a willow tree.  Kalan also really wants a frog so I'll have to think about how to do that one.  Oh and I think I might make a log for the turtle to sit on.

Mushroom Napkins

Ok I know napkins are not terribly exciting but I really loved this print and wanted to share it.  :)  I've been buying material each season and making napkins to go with it.  Its especially great to wait until right after a holiday and scoop up the material on clearance.

knights

Yet another swap.  This little army of knights is destined for the knights, dragons, and castles swap.  I'm actually hosting this one so I'll be back to post pictures of all the items that are currently arriving at my house.  Everything is so wonderful!  I can't wait to post and send stuff back so everyone can see everything.

Sweater balls

I entered a rainbow swap and decided to make these sweater balls.  Let me tell you how hard it is to find a  used orange sweater. :)  I ended up making a few extras so that I can give them to the boys and some friends for Christmas.

Felted bats

Here is one of the many felted bats I made for a Halloween swap.  I felted old wool sweaters and sewed these together.  I hear the swap items were mailed back today and I'm really excited to see what I've gotten!

Finished habitat

K and I finished all the little details for his Arctic Habitat.  We made an Inuit and a little igloo.  Here is K playing with the habitats side by side.

Pond playmat

K chose to make a pond for our next playmat habitat.  He really wanted a place to put his ducks and turtles.  We used recycled sweaters to make the pond.  We plan on adding lots of elements to the pond including a bridge, willow tree, fisherman, and maybe some cattails.

Birthday prep

I've been getting things together for K's birthday. He picked the theme, pink teaparty. Since its impossible to find boy's pink shirts I dyed this shirt and sewed a pink three on it. I also made these little garden banners for the kids to decorate and take home.

So I've totally fallen behind here in baby booties. Here are two more sets to catch me up. :) The 1st pair are bunnies because this is the year of the rabbit. Now to catch up on my gnomes...

I thought I had posted these snail booties awhile back. These were sent to my friend of whom I threw her mother blessing. She loves the color purple. :)

Bee Baby Booties

I have a lot of friend who have either just given birth or pregnant. Since November I know at least one person giving birth each month until my own is due in May. So for each friend I have been making a little pair of booties. Here is the first pair I made: http://seasonalgnome.blogspot.com/2010/11/baby-booties.html
This 2nd pair is for a friend due today:

Advent Calendar Finished (Kinda)

The advent calendar is finished (kinda). Next year I plan to add animals, but it is now in working order. I'm really excited to start december first.

K's little foot popped in there.

I know, I'm no artist, but these are the little slips I'm putting in the calendar to represent what we'll be doing that day.

I ended up using a small curtain rod to hang it by. Here is a close up of the pockets. They are each needle felted on wool felt.

Baby Booties

Today is one of my good friend's due dates. She is expecting another little girl. I'm excited that both our children will be really close in age. She lives pretty far away from us, but we still are able to see them a couple of times a year.
I found this great bootie pattern at the store (I think its Macalls). I made up the embroidery, however. I'm excited to get the birth announcement and send along the booties. :)

Witch Puppet

This is actually a felt puppet that I made a couple of years ago (while I was pregnant), but I don't think I've ever had the chance to post it before. She stays with our halloween decorations so she is usually packed away. Anyway I got the pattern from a library book on stuffed animal making and for the life of me can't remember the name.

Little felt mouse

I made this little mouse out of wool felt hoping to tell K the story of the lion and the mouse. It wasn't until I was done though, that I realized we don't actually have a lion. I really thought I had a lion puppet. So for now he is sitting on the nature table till I figure out what to do about a lion. Perhaps I can borrow one from a friend.
