Paper Sundaes Third Challenge

Tomorrow is February 1st and everywhere I look love is all around!  Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog is celebrating with a Valentines theme this week.  The valentine could be for your honey, your mom, your kids, or even your pet.  The sponsor this week is PaperWorks Co. who has graciously provided not only a $25 gift certificate to this week's random winner, but also a discount code for 10% off two of their stamp lines to Paper Sundaes' followers.

I've decided to create two cards with Standing Beneath A Tree from the Freckle Love collection at PaperWorks Co.  For the first card I have cut out the individual elements from the stamped image and placed them so that the little boy and girl are holding hands.  I kept my card simple to draw focus on the image.

Both cards feature the February 2010 PaperCard Kit from PaperWorks Co. which will be available on their website tomorrow.  The kit includes 12 - 6"x6" Patterned Paper from 3Bugs in a Rug Simple Pleasures Collection, 10 sheets of assorted cardstock, brads, ribbon, dewdrops, flowers, and buttons!  Enough to easily make six or seven cards if you love layers and more if you keep it simple.

Both cards also use Memento ink and Spellbinders Nestabilities which is also available through Peggy at PaperWorks Co.  Don't forget to check out PWCO upcoming stamp release on February 5th and their copic marker club.

These cards will be entered into the challenges at Caardvarks (hearts), Fussy and Fancy (hearts), Allsorts (hearts and flowers), Belli (hearts), PaperPlay (pink, white and green), Cute Card Thursday (blooming gorgeous) and Lexi's Creations (Valentines).  Thank you for looking!

Simply Chester

This latest release from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps is amazing!  I bought all four additions to the Moonlight Whispers line, a couple fairies by Crissy Armstrong, and the matching sentiment sets.  KKS can be found at Kraftin' Kimmie or Stamp and Create

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps challenge blog was a stretch for me this week - no embellishments!  Thankfully the design team was positively inspiring and Friday Sketchers provided the perfect sketch.

Thanks for looking!  Only one more day to enter the challenge at Paper Sundaes!  This week's prize is provided by Ildi Co and next week - you'll have to wait and see Sunday!

Paper Sundaes Second Challenge

Oh how I love my Sundays!  The sponsor for this week at Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog is Ildi Co.  I liked their images so much I had to add six to my cart including this adorable couple, Dandy and Lolita.

The layout is following Saturday Sketchers which worked perfectly with the recipe challenge this week at Paper Sundaes: Chocolate ice cream (brown), Strawberry sauce (pink), Whipped cream topping (lace), and Finishing touch (flowers).  After cropping one of the mats too small, I decided to finish the inside with the left over pieces.

This card was created for a friend who is newly married and just purchased their first home.  I am working on a scrapbook layout with two other Ildi Co images, Lolita girl purse and Clownkins Princess.

Thank you for looking!  Please join us this week at Paper Sundaes for your chance to win four digital images from Ildi Co.

Flutter By Wednesday DT

Good morning!  Today I am excited to post my creation as a guest designer for Flutter By Wednesday.  This week's challenge with Danni and her wonderful FBW team is embossing.  Monday my Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps from their new release arrived including the beautiful Bird Fairy by artist Crissy Armstrong.

She was coloured with Tim Holtz distress inks.  The brown cardstock has been dry embossed with Cuttlebug embossing folder D'vine Swirls.

The sentiment "Imagine" was heat embossed with Close to My Heart embossing powder.

I continued embossing on the inside of the card, using the left over embossed cardstock from the front and embossing the sentiment and wing.

My original idea for the inside was to go over the wing with a pink marker and stamp it - too dark.  Then I tried stamping on scrap first and making a lighter image - still not right.  Then I got the idea to emboss the wing with Stampin' Up irridescent ice - can't find it and my SU demo next door is out too.  She suggested mixing clear embossing powder with dazzling diamonds - the result was amazing!

The sentiment, also from the new KKS release, was stamped in Stampin' Up Close to Cocoa classic ink pad and quickly covered with clear embossing powder.  Granted craft ink is recommended for the clear embossing technique but I own every SU colour in classic ink pads and only two or three in the craft.  Bird Fairy will be entered into this week's challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps challenge blog, A Spool Full of Sugar (lots of layers) and Papertake Weekly (pink).

Thank you for looking!  Please check out the fantastic creations by the rest of the Flutter By Wednesday design team.  Also, the challenge at Paper Sundaes is open until Saturday night with a random winner receiving a $15 gift certificate to Stamp and Create - and Lacey carries the complete new release from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!

Ava and Bella

I was so happy to receive my order from Stamp and Create Friday which included new stamps, charms, and bling.  Lacey carries images from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, The Greeting Farm, Stampavie (home of Mo's Digital Pencil in rubber), and many more!  For your viewing pleasure I have Ava from TGF and one of Mo's digital images, Bella hearts Bronte.

A couple weeks ago we took our three-year old daughter to see the newest Disney release, The Princess and the Frog so when I came across Ava I just had to have her.

Ava will be entered into the challenge at Sketch Saturday and Simon Says Challenge (shabby chic).

Bella was coloured with a combination of Lyra and Koh-I-Noor pencils and blended with odorless thinner.  Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps was last Tuesday's sponsor at Papertake Weekly and given my obsession with the Moonlight Whispers series, I had to enter.  Bella will be entered into the challenges at Papertake Weekly and Cute Card Thursday (pink and grey).

Thank you for looking and remember to enter this week's challenge at Paper Sundaes for a chance to win $15 gift certificate for Stamp and Create!

Paper Sundaes First Challenge

Another exciting Sunday as Paper Sundaes launches their first challenge today!

I have created two cards for this occasion.  I am combining my first PS card with the challenges at Simon Says Challenge, Creative Inspirations Challenge (distressing) and A Spoon Full of Sugar.  Here is Piper which is just one of the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps available at Stamp and Create.  Lacey has IN STOCK the new releases from KKS!

The sentiment is from the Kimmie's Fun Sentiments set available here.  I used another of the sentiments on the inside:

I love the new release from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps and have a rather large order arriving any day.  Sadly it did not arrive prior to this post however the last release was just as amazing and included Drucilla.

Drucilla is slated not only for PSC1 but also for the weekly challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge Blog (pink/red/chocolate).  My order from Stamp and Create arrived Friday so I was able to use my new double heart charms and pearls.  The fancy tags nestabilities used to showcase the sentiment is currently on sale here.

This card is destined for my darling husband, my valentine, for our upcoming Anniversary (yes, we are one of those couples who got married on Valentine's Day).  Both sentiments are from Kimmie's Sassy Sentiments.

Thank you for looking!  Now check out the fabulous sponsor and challenge at Paper Sundaes and top your Sunday with a smile!

A Birthday Surprise!

PLEASE Scroll down for blog candy post!!

The little monsters and dinosaurs from Paper Makeup Stamps are wonderful for little boys' cards.  Monday was my nephew's third birthday so out came all my PMS.  I love Gus the birthday monster and decided to mask him in front of Monster of a Gift.  Gus almost appears to be saying "what's wrong with my gift?"  I love to play along with Makeup for the Weekend on the PMS blog and this week Pink Elephant is looking for birthday cards.  Be sure to check out the PMS blog for their new release sneak peeks!

I used spellbinders to crop the image and popped out the tail and Gus' hand.  I kept the inside extremely simple as this is a card for a three-year old boy.

The second card I have for your viewing please is for today's Flutter By Wednesday Challenge.  I dragged my feet too long to get this posted with the rest of the DT so it's really good that I'm only a guest DT at this time!  I used the digi image Mushroom Break from a brand new Canadian digital stamp company Prairie Fairy and followed the sketch on their challenge blog.

The flower is glittery with Tattered Angels glimmer mist and the fairy's wings have been treated with Stampin' Up dazzling diamonds.  The inside is not yet complete as my daughter has taken over my sewing table to play Diego.  The plan is to have the stripes on the bottom layer, zig zag stitch the dot paper in the middle leaving the same wide border as the front of the card, and straight stitching white cardstock in the middle.  Prairie Fairy has a variety of digis available including animals, fairies, aliens, robots, boys, girls, even humourous.  With the flower, sparkles, ribbon, and fairy - I'll be entering this one into Cupcake Crafts going girly challenge.

Thank you for looking.  Be sure to check out my blog candy below and to check out the new challenge blog which launches this Sunday!

Paper Sundaes Blog Hop!

Happy Sunday and welcome to our Paper Sundaes blog hop!  If you have arrived here from my dear friend Christine's blog, then you are on the right track.  If you have stumbled here accidentally then check out all the excitement at Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog.

A couple months ago, Christine wanted to cheer me up and suggested we start a challenge blog.  I don't think she ever imagined that I would be so enthusiastic or eager... or sad to say, such a relentless task master as we tackled the task.  But today we celebrate the launch with a design team blog hop.

In my excitement I have created not one, not two, but THREE cards to show you!

First up is a card for the Sugar Bowl with the adorable image Demure.

The inside is just a simplified version of the sketch.

Next up, is one of my favorite Magnolia images - Kitchen Tilda which I ordered from Diana at Magnolia-licious.

The paper used was from December's card kit at Paperworks Co.  I used the same paper on the inside:

Tilda will be entered into the challenges at Just Magnolia (paper pleating), Cute Card Thursday (new), Diedrich Dare (colour challenge), and Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge (sketch).

Lastly, my entry for this week's Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps challenge.

And inside:

Antionette will be entered into the challenges at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps (heavy metal), The Pink Elephant (2 DP, 3 buttons, snowflakes), Crazy for Challenges (birthdays), Cute Card Thursday (new - stamp), Pollycraft Monday Challenge (winter birthday) and Sketch Saturday (sketch).

Note to my husband: Stop reading here!

The January release at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps is available today.  I have already visited their store and ordered the complete line of Steampunk images including sentiments, as well as two of the fairies, and the fairy sentiments.

So, did you like the first card?  Here's a hint - it was Demure from Sugar Nellie.  Well, an uninked version of that stamp is what I am offering for my blog candy along with a couple other goodies.  If you'd like a chance at winning my fixings, become a follower of my blog and leave a comment.  I will draw the winner and post it on the Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog Sunday, January 17th when we post the first sketch challenge.

Next on our blog hop is Alica.  If you get lost, check out the list of participants here.

Thank you for looking!

Miss Anya Valentine and Blog Candy!

Do I ever have an exciting post today!  First up is a Valentine card that I made my thirteen year old niece who is a huge Twilight fan.  The card design is a joy fold, the current challenge at Dutch Dare

These beautiful papers are from the Basic Grey Bittersweet collection however I've paired it with the Making Memories ribbon slide and ribbon from their love notes collection.  I wanted to keep the final layer a surprise so on the second layer I cut out and adhered a matted heart.  The sentiment on this layer is printed from Microsoft Word and the arrow is drawn with Copic Atyou glitter pen.

Any guess which team my niece is on?

Yep, she likes Jacob.  This card was a lot of fun to make and I think she is going to jump herself silly when she opens it!  Given the bright bold patterns of the paper, I chose to limit the number of embellishments on this card.  Pink and brown reminds me of chocolate covered strawberries and hot chocolate and happens to be one of my top three colour combinations.

I will be entering Miss Anya into the following challenges:
- The Greeting Farm TGF stamp with glitter (Atyou glitter pen) and glue
- EAC favorite colour combination (pink & brown)
Simon Says Challenge (hot chocolate)
- Quixotic Paperie (hot chocolate)
- Charisma Cardz (pink/brown/cream/toffee)
- Roses on Paper (favorite colouring medium - Lyra)
- Creative Card Crew (distressing)

Details
Stamps: The Greeting Farm
Paper: Basic Grey Bittersweet, Bazzill
Ink: Stampin' UP
Embellishments: Spellbinders, Making Memories ribbon and ribbon slide, Basic Grey brads

But even more exciting....this Sunday at 10 am EST I will be part of a blog hop introducing a BRAND NEW challenge blog and I will have blog candy up for grabs!

Come play with us Sunday!

Thank you for looking.

Flutter By Wednesday's Blog Hop!

Welcome to our fluttering blog hop!  All of us are excited to share with you our new fluttering creations and our NEW Flutter By Wednesday blog

If you have come here from Debby's blog then you are on the right track and over half way through the hop!  Otherwise please flutter back to the beginning of the hop at Danni's blog.  Be sure to check out ALL the fabulous creations and receive the maximum inspiration possible.  If you wander from the path and get lost, simply flutter to Danni's and view the master list of participants.

To celebrate Flutter By Wednesday's new home and my new guest DT position with FBW, I used Tilda from the winter kit in combination with my new distress inks and a new card layout.

I love the vintage feel the distress inks provide.  The colours of the card were inspired by the image at Cupcake Inspiration Challenge.  Tilda's blonde hair is the yellow bow which wraps up this pretty package of soft blue and pink.  The chocolate cardstock is the cupcake whereas the watercolour paper and offwhite crocheted flower is the icing.

Thank you to my secret sister Carla for sending me beautiful crocheted flowers.

The two toned chocolate cardstock is so delish to play with!  I embossed the flowers and then sanded to show just a little hint of blue.  The writing space is actually tucked right behind Tilda, here:

Thank you for looking and remember to flutter back next week for some candy.  Now flutter over to Heather's blog to see what creation she has to inspire you!

A Little Birdie Told Me

This sentiment is perfect for the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Clara image.  She is such a joy to colour although paper piecing her was more involved than I had imagined.  The challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge Blog this week is, you guessed it, paper piecing.

In addition to paper piecing, Clara was popped up on different layers.

The Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge is new beginnings which is perfect for my cousin and her husband as they celebrate the birth of their daughter. The card was minimally coloured with copic markers.

Clara will also be entered into the challenges at Crazy 4 Challenges (polka dot fun - swiss dots embossing folder and polka dot paper), Cupcake Crafts (new baby), and at Sketch Saturday.

Thank you for looking!

2009 Favorite Card of the Year

Although I have been card making for over five years, I have only been posting my creations for a little over two months which made it easy to pick my favorite from 2009.  After nearly losing my husband in 2008, I designed a card this past Thanksgiving celebrating him and life with him.  The card turned out beautifully and has tremendous sentimental value as you can well imagine.

It was also my very first easel card.

The fabulous design team at Quixotic Challenges have posted their favorites of 2009 and are offering blog candy for sharing your favorite card of the past year.

Check out their challenge blog and blog candy here!

Thank you for looking and I'll post a new creation tomorrow!

Happy New Year!

The new year rolled in last night with the typical lack of fan fare in our house.  Today I'm celebrating with creating two cards - one I'll share today but you'll have to join me January 6th for the Flutter By Wednesday blog hop to see the second one!  2010 will be filled with new adventures including my newest adventure with Danni of Danni's Dreams as I join her Flutter By Wednesday DT as a guest designer.  Luckily this is the internet and you are all saved from my "happy dance".

The challenge this week at the Paper Makeup Stamps blog was set out by one of my favorite card designers - Tangii Crain.  Her challenge is to use either blue and silver or black and silver.  My apologies as I had to substitute gray for silver as even Michael's is not open today (and rightly so!).

I used my new Melissa Fairy stamp by Paper Makeup and my new Martha Stewart border punch.

I love the matching sentiment from Paper Makeup Stamps.

Melissa will also be entered at Cute Card Thursday (sketch), Flutter By Wednesday (anything goes), and Fussy and Fancy (new).

Thank you for looking and Happy New Year!
