Happy Father's Day Pappa Bear!

Today's card is a combination of many weaknesses - a fabulous new image by Melissa Jenkin's, amazing new papers by Three Bugs in a Rug, my new Pentax digital SLR camera, and my hubby!  This sadly is my last post as guest designer for Meljen's Designs.  I have enjoyed my time playing with her images and managed to resist acquiring any new digis by MJ until I saw Pappa Bear:

You may notice that my image looks slightly different from the linked digi.  That my friends is the benefit of digital images!  I wanted the second bear to be standing closer to his Pappa, so I just used my PhotoShop Elements 7 to bring him closer.  I followed the more simple option of the two sketchs at Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge this week.

On the inside of the card I used another of Meljen's Designs latest release, Number One Dad Stitched:

I wanted to feature both stamps and still enable myself to use more of the gorgeous patterned paper and provide the kids with room to sign their names.  On the other side I typed a sentiment on the computer - one that the kids will love!  The joke in our family is how it has taken a tent trailer to get Mommy to go camping (what can I say except that I demand a dry bed and a table inside so that I can play with my copics if it rains!).

Each bear was coloured with a different shade of brown and gently dabbed with an old cloth soaked in blending solution.

Copic Details

Bear paws: E30

You Make Me Smile

Oh Happy Thursday!  Friday is almost here and I will be re-arranging furniture like a crazy woman all weekend - yikes!  On the plus side, we are getting all new windows on our house Monday and Tuesday - and a new front and back door.  So, my craft room is now a craft basement as I have stuff spread across two rooms now.

Tonight I put together a card with an image I coloured at Christine's on Monday - Eleanor from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps:

The layout is from Card Positioning Systems and I combined that challenge with the *Text* Me challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge Blog - the words 'Flip Flop Fun' can be found on the paper.

Eleanor is coloured with copic markers.

Happy Birthday Fi!

Oh, I am so in love!  My first ever international stamp order was with Sugar Nellie...and here I am back at it again!  I love these Simply Sassy girls and seriously would love to snap up the whole collection.  Well, my pocket book doesn't allow for such whims, so I'm going to try to win them!  Here is my entry for the Sugar Bowl:

I didn't want to cover up Rupunzel's beautiful hair, so I moved the flowers to the opposite side of the image - sorry!

Rupunzel was coloured with copics and additional highlights added with Koh-I-Noor and Lyra coloured pencils.

Good evening!  Wow did I have an awesome day!  I ran away to Christine's house and played with my copics all day.  In the end I managed to colour three of my favorite lines of stamps - Pure Innocence, Sugar Nellie Simply Sassy, and Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.  Tonight I'd like to share with you 'You're So Tweet':

The layout is based on the MFT Wednesday Stamp Club sketch MFTWSC20.  The circle sentiment is from Lili of the Valley and is part of their Dreamy Days Sentiments set.  This week's challenge from Lili of the Valley is 'Here Comes Summer'.

The image was coloured with copic markers (of course!) and using some of my favorite colour combinations.

Retail Therapy with Tilda

Happy Sunday!  Wow is this weekend just AMAZING!  A free crop on Friday night with Christine at the local scrapbook store, Scrap & Bean - finally gave Christine her gift!

I am still hoping to find more entrants into Cards for Christine - currently there is a greater than 1 in 5 chance of winning a $20 gift certificate to a store of the winner's choice!!!

All you need to do is make a 40th birthday card for Christine and mail it in for your chance to win 1 of 2 $20 gift certificates!!!  Check out this post for details!

Today I took the kids to another local scrapbook stores - talk about amazing retail therapy!  Here is Tilda going Shopping - I wonder what is in her bags?!

The layout is from Just Magnolia and hÄnglar & stÄnglar.  This week's challenge on Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog is to 'Pop It Up!'  I popped up Tilda, the oval frame behind Tilda, and the two butterflies.

I used patterned papers from Webster's Postcards from Paris collection and one sheet of Bazzill cardstock.  The two butterflies are cut out from the patterned paper and the flowers are Wild Orchid - of course!  The inside of the card was kept clean and simple - just waiting for the right occasion/sentiment.

Tilda was coloured in copic markers, her cheeks touched up with chalk, and her pearl necklace finished with a white gel pen.

Spring Time Planting

Good evening!  Tonight I've taken a walk down memory lane with one of my favorite stamp companies - Paper Makeup Stamps.  I had the pleasure of being introduced to their monsters and aliens a couple years ago when I was in desperate search for images for my then five year old son.  My love of their fairies, Moody Girls, and word art shortly followed.  As with many of my stamps in my vast collection, my PMS stamps have been grossly neglected for quite some time.  So, with Spring finally upon us I wanted to print and colour Sprout:

The layout is my own - just the way the papers wanted to be laid out.  :)  Paper Makeup is currently sponsoring two challenges - Copic Creations and Through the Craftroom Door.  The challenge at Copic Creations is the colour "yellow" - hence the two-toned yellow top and blonde hair!

I continued the same basic layout on the inside of the card using one of the Word Arts from PMS:

I love this sentiment!  I wish I could say that I was good at following its' wisdom but that would not be the truth.  Although for me, crafting helps to keep my spirits and day bright.  Another big plus for me with Paper Makeup Stamps is Katie Cotton.  I have placed a few orders with her and she has actually graciously sponsored Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog and from all those interactions I can tell you that she is actually a sweetheart to deal with.  I have a few favorites to deal with when shopping and Katie and Lacey (from Stamp & Create) rate at the top of my list.

Happy Birthday Christine - the Main Event!!!

Happy Sundae - a second time!  This time I'll be sharing with you a true labour of love - a ribbon box I've decorated full of Tildas for Christine.  I don't think I have ever spent as much time on any one project as I have this one.  It all started with a trip to my local scrapbook store, Scrap and Bean, where I made the mistake of asking "Do you have any ribbon storage ideas?".  Kathy, the owner, kindly introduced me to Kaiser Kraft's All Purpose Box.  (Warning - you might want to grab a cup of tea because this post is long!!!)

Kathy had a wonderful selection of Bo Bunny papers from the Gabrielle collection which I used to decorate the box after I painted the whole box a light ivory.

The top of the box features a butterfly which I cut out from one of the Bo Bunney papers, metal embellishments from K & Company, unknown brown lace, and two Tildas:

Alternate views of the box, including a peek at the inside contents - 40 different ribbons for my best friend's fortieth birthday!

To go with this box I have 40 sheets of Bazzill cardstock - each in a different colour!
This box will be entered into the following challenges:
Magnolia Down Under - Your Favorite Things (hmmm...my best friend, her birthday, making presents, Tilda, Tilda, and more Tildas!)

Happy Birthday Christine!

Happy Sunday!  This week on Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog we would love for you to help us to say a very special Happy Birthday to the inspiration for Paper Sundaes - Christine!  Without this lovely lady putting the idea of starting our very own challenge blog in my head, I wouldn't have run with the idea and we wouldn't be here!

To celebrate her big 4-0, I wanted to make a ribbon box...and from there the idea carried into a matching set of three paper mache nesting boxes.  All of these have been decorated with papers from Bo Bunny's Gabrielle collection.

The boxes were an inexpensive purchase from Michaels - the set of three nesting paper machine boxes cost me $4.99 for the set!

The paper covering the boxes actually cost more than the boxes!  Each box is covered with two pieces of patterned paper - one on the lid and one on the base.

To celebrate Christine's fortieth birthday, I have tucked 40 items in each of the boxes.  The smallest box contains 40 different buttons while the middle box contains 40 yards of embroidery floss - each yard is a different colour too!  The contents of the bottom box are a labour of love - stamped images!  I stamped two copies of 40 different images onto Christine's favorite PaperTrey Ink paper.  The images include Belles 'n Whistles, CC Designs,  hÄnglar & stÄnglar, Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps, Magnolia, Pure Innocence, Sugar Nellie, and Whiff of Joy!

The main box for ribbons is not quite ready - later this afternoon I will post it!

For now I want to tell you about an opportunity to win one of two $20 gift certificates to some of the best online shopping stores!  Each winner will be able to choose their gift certificate - Simon Says Stamp, Paper Makeup, Stamp and Create, Mo's Digital Pencil - any of Paper Sundaes' sponsors who offer gift certificates!!!

I like to consider myself Christine's best friend.  However after knowing for months that her birthday was coming, it dawned on me the day AFTER her birthday!  ARGH!  To make it up to her I'd like to get 40 different people to make her birthday cards and mail them to Christine (entry does not qualify unless card is received).  Two winners will be drawn once all the cards have been received.  One random winner from all cards received and one random winner from the top five cards!  If you are interested in making Christine a card for her 40th birthday, add you name to inlinkz below - but only if you are able to make and mail the card by May 21st!

Your card can be entered into challenge on Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog until Saturday, May 21st for another chance to win!

These boxes will be entered into the Circles challenge on Wags 'n Whiskers challenge blog!
