Retail Therapy with Tilda

Happy Sunday!  Wow is this weekend just AMAZING!  A free crop on Friday night with Christine at the local scrapbook store, Scrap & Bean - finally gave Christine her gift!

I am still hoping to find more entrants into Cards for Christine - currently there is a greater than 1 in 5 chance of winning a $20 gift certificate to a store of the winner's choice!!!

All you need to do is make a 40th birthday card for Christine and mail it in for your chance to win 1 of 2 $20 gift certificates!!!  Check out this post for details!

Today I took the kids to another local scrapbook stores - talk about amazing retail therapy!  Here is Tilda going Shopping - I wonder what is in her bags?!

The layout is from Just Magnolia and hÄnglar & stÄnglar.  This week's challenge on Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog is to 'Pop It Up!'  I popped up Tilda, the oval frame behind Tilda, and the two butterflies.

I used patterned papers from Webster's Postcards from Paris collection and one sheet of Bazzill cardstock.  The two butterflies are cut out from the patterned paper and the flowers are Wild Orchid - of course!  The inside of the card was kept clean and simple - just waiting for the right occasion/sentiment.

Tilda was coloured in copic markers, her cheeks touched up with chalk, and her pearl necklace finished with a white gel pen.

Happy Easter Tilda

Yesterday it dawned on me that I have all these gorgeous Easter stamps and papers - and I don't think I've done even one Easter card this year!  Out came a brand new piece of Xpress It cardstock and I stamped various Magnolia images and I settled in to enjoy a night of colouring on the couch next to my sick daughter.  Luck was not with me last night.  I managed to be just adding the final touches to my image, when my brand new copic marker decided to let out a drop of ink!  ARGH!  So, there went Tilda and her Bunny...and I moved on to Tilda holding egg basket:

Once again during the final touches on her basket, my copic marker (this time a different colour!) let out a drop of ink.  Hmmm.  Is someone trying to tell me I need to clean my house and not colour?  NAH!  Although I am finding the switch from Paper Trey Ink cardstock to Xpress It extremely difficult - any advice is greatly appreciated!

I embossed the sentiment on the front with Stampin' Up! black embossing powder and I followed the sketch at Card Patterns for a chance to win a gift certificate to Paper Makeup Stamps.

This gorgeous paper is from Kaiser Kraft and you will see it again tomorrow for my Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog creation!  I kept the inside simple although I did stitch along the edges of the patterned paper.

This card will be entered into the following challenges:

Cupcake Crafts - Lots of Layers (I have four)
Papertake Weekly - Spots N Stripes
Simon Says - Emboss It!
7 Kids College Fund - Easter & Spring

Don't Ever Give Up... On Spring!

Or my Sunday posts!  Happy Sunday!  A little late but Tilda is always worth it!  So is Spring.  Eventually even those of us in Alberta, Canada can expect to see it.  Hard to imagine as last week the grass on my lawn was visible and two days later we had a huge snowfall!

This week on Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog we would like to see texture.  For my card I wanted several different textures so I distressed, sewed, dry embossed, wet embossed, added flowers and floral netting, and dazzling diamonds - WOW!  Tilda in Windy Weather is perfect for our mixed-up Spring:

I followed this week's layout at Sketch Saturday.  For added texture I dry embossed the dark teal layer.

The sentiment is stamped and then covered with versamark ink and embossed with clear powder.

The raindrops were treated to Stampin' Up! Crystal Effects for added gloss and dimension.  Tilda was coloured with copic markers and her cheeks were pinked with chalk.

Tilda with Hawaii Flower

Tilda with Hawaii Flower has to be the most beautiful stamp from Magnolia's latest collection, Butterfly Dreams.  As I not so patiently awaiting for mine to arrive, a friend stamped a couple for me on cryogen copic paper.

The paper has a definately shimmer to it and I haven't quite decided if I like it or not.  I have recently ordered X-Press It paper after taking a class with Sherrie Siemens at our local scrapbook store Scrap & Bean.  For those of us in the Edmonton area, Kathy at Scrap & Bean is a great local source of Magnolia stamps, copic markers and a copic refill station!

I followed the layout at Just Magnolia & hÄnglar & stÄnglar.  The new Little Girl collection from Echo Park are so delicious that I actually bought the complete 12x12 paper pack!

I love the colours - I can't decide if they are pretty pastels or bold brights - but they are definately Spring-y!  The sentiment on the inside of the card was printed from my computer and is perfect for May 8th - Mother's Day!  Remember to check out my Mother's Day Blog Candy on my Cooking with Mom post!

Tilda is coloured with copic markers and lovingly stitched with my beloved Husqvarna sewing machine.  I've added some flowers from my latest Wild Orchid purchase and used my Spellbinders to cut out the ovals and the rectangles around Tilda.  The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch I finally found at Micheals - I've been looking for it for several months.

I tried a different colouring technique with Tilda's dress and the grass.  Feel free to offer your thoughts and advise!  Please remember to check out my blog candy for your chance to win a copy of Magnolia Ink, an uninked Tilda, and some cherry blossoms from Wild Orchid!

Shy Edwin In Love

Happy Sunday!  This week on Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog we are asking you to use two or more images - this can be a combination of two or more main images, background images, furniture, or even accessory stamps.  For my card I used four of the stamps I just received last week from Diana at Magnolia-licious - and three are from the brand new "You Are So Special" collection!   Meet Shy Rose Edwin and his love, Tilda with Big Ribbon

The background stamp is Romantic Window from the new collection and Tilda is sitting on Old Bench.  The papers are from my stash and they are at least a year old - if not two!  The collection is from Making Memories and not only did I buy the papers, but I also bought the matching die cuts, ribbons, notepad, and brads.

I coloured the images with a combination of copic markers, Koh-I-Noor coloured pencils, and Stampin' Up! chalks.  The trim on Tilda's dress, undershorts, and socks have been treated to Stampin' Up! dazzling diamonds.

I had so much fun a couple weeks ago with the calendar challenge at Anyone for Anya and Friends?, that I thought I'd give it another try with Magnolia Down Under!

Tilda Says Thank You

Happy Tuesday!  First day back to work after the holidays and what do I do when I get home to the kids?  Run straight to the craft supplies!  With the hustle and bustle of the holidays behind us and visions of holiday bills ahead of us, I figured I'd hide from it all and finally finish the card I started early December.  This beauty is Tilda with Christmas Post:

I followed Mina's Sketch at Just Magnolia Challenge Blog.

Totally Tilda Challenges wanted to see an easel card with Tilda.  Although I've used the gorgeous Christmas paper from Kaiser, I wanted to make a thank you card for my Aunt and Uncle.

I added sparkle arrange the edge of each layer with dazzling diamonds and Tilda is coloured with copics (of course!).

Tilda will be entered into the following challenges:

Cupcake Crafts - Thank You
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
Papertake Weekly - Be Thankful
Phindy's Place - Give Thanks (optional - with scraps)

Tilda Hanging Ornaments

Happy Sunday!  This week on Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog we would like to see you 'adorn those corners' of your image.  I attempted to first adorn my corners using my sewing machine - trying to mimic the style of Michele Boyer that I love - however I was not successful.  Ended up covering up my sewing failure with punches and Prima flowers in one corner and a Prima ornament die cut in the other.  I love this Magnolia image from the Merry Little Christmas collection, Tilda Hanging Ornaments.

Once again I've stamped Tilda in Memento ink and coloured her with my beloved copic markers.  I have added sparkle to her shirt with dazzling diamonds.

I have used my sewing machine to stitch around the edges of the patterned paper on the front and the inside fo the card.

I have used a strip from the Little Yellow Bicycle paper for the inside of the card.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

Simon Says Challenge - Let It Snow
Just Magnolia - Sketch

Thank you for looking!  I look forward to seeing how you 'adorn those corners' for your chance to win a $15 gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp!

A Sneaky Tilda for My Daughter

The Merry Little Christmas Collection from Magnolia this year is fantastic!  One of my first purchases from this collection from Diana at Magnolia-licious was this beauty, Sneaky Tilda:

After making a card last week for my son, my daughter started insisting that I make one for her too!  My little princess loves the colour purple so this paper from the Bo Bunny Winter Joy collection is perfect.  The layout design of the card is from Sketch Saturday.

I used Stampin' Up! Dazzling Diamonds on the edge of the image, the sentiments, and the paper on the inside of the card.  There are two clear snowflakes on the front of the card that are difficult to photograph but you can see them on the close-up of the image:

The sentiments used are from Whiff of Joy (thanks Christine!).

I am writing this post at work right now as I had it scheduled and fell asleep before I wrote it up last night.  I will add the copic details tonight from home!  I am excited to report that Diana mailed my pre-order of Christmas Maggies on Thursday last week and I received it this past Monday - just two business days later! I am looking forward to colouring and sharing the rest of the images!

I will be entering Sneaky Tilda into the following challenges:

Just Magnolia - Anything Goes
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Snow/Snowflakes

Thank you for looking!

Mixing Mediums with Tilda On The Go

Happy Monday!  I'm taking a break from sitting in ICU at the hospital with my aunt to post a card for Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog.  This week's challenge is one of my absolute favorites - mixed medium

When I took my colouring class at My Creative Classroom, my instructor Colleen Schaan taught us how to add shadows on images coloured with copics by using coloured pencils.  Also how to add grass and grounding on the image by using coloured pencils.  Chalks are great for adding some interest to the background or adding blush to cheeks.  Mixed medium is the result any time you use more than one colouring medium on an image - copics, coloured pencils, watercolour paints, distress ink, chalks, etc.

This week I am using one of my brand new Bon Voyage Magnolias from Diana at Magnolia-licious.

Tilda was first coloured with copic markers.  Then I added some depth to the shadows and added grounding with my Lyra coloured pencils.  I used chalk to mute the white background and add blush to Tilda's cheeks.

I followed the sketch at Sketch Saturday - thanks Jeanette for another gorgeous sketch!  Tilda On the Go will also be entered into the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp! - pearls and lace
Magnolia Stamp Lovers - fall colours (muted brown roses, golden shirt, muted blue dress)
Just Magnolia - anything goes
Stamp and Create - pearls and gems (flower spacers and pearls both from Stamp and Create)
Bunny Zoe's - vintage

Thank you for looking!  I look forward to seeing your mixed medium creation on Paper Sundaes!

Best Wishes from Tilda

This post should feature The Rabbit from Spesch Designer Stamps as I apologize and state "I'm late, I'm late! for a very important date!"  I've been working on this card for my Paper Sundaes "Pretty as a Princess" challenge post for a few days now, getting it "just right" and perhaps waiting just long enough to decide it's purpose - a best wishes card for Carlyann from Charisma Cardz.

I wanted to combine it with a few other challenges including the easel challenge at Creative Card Crew.

This card features Midsummer Tilda and paper from the Kioshi collection from Basic Grey.  Simon Says Stamp carries a large assortment of Magnolia stamps in addition to Basic Grey products, including the Kioshi collection.

This card was created for several challenges including:
Paper Sundaes - Pretty as a Princess
A Spoon Full of Sugar - Good luck/Best Wishes
Creative Card Crew - Easel card
Just Magnolia - In the Garden
Charisma Cardz - Wedding card mail-in for Carlyann
Secret Crafter - Wedding/Anniversaries
Crazy 4 Challenges - Paper Flowers
Stamptacular Sunday - Cute as a Bug! (in this case butterfly, which is a type of bug according to my son's bug book)

Thank you for looking!  I hope to see your "Pretty as a Princess" creation in our Paper Sundaes Challenge!

Oh what a happy day!  I love Sundays and Sundays when I have a new Magnolia card to share with all of you is sheer bliss!  Yesterday I was wrapped up in the Sponsor Celebration Blog Hop for Paper Sundaes, today is all about the challenge.  Okay, maybe not all because I need to remind anyone who hasn't read about the blog hop to go check out this post - there are five opportunities to win including one entry for just hopping to ten different blogs!

Back to our challenge - this week the Paper Sundae Girls are building sundaes!  Three scoops of ice cream (3 designer papers), two toppings (2 different cardstocks), and a cherry for the top (a single flower - of course!).  This week Simon Says Stamp is the sponsor - Heidi carries lots of Magnolia and the new Tim Holtz distress inks which are perfect for watercolouring beautiful Tilda!

This beautiful image is #382 Lady Tilda and I have combined her with #1413 Prince Phillip Frog and #3035 Mini Tilda.

This Magnolia creation will be entered into the challenges at Simon Says Challenge (things with wings), Cute Card Thursday (sketch) and Just Magnolia (anything goes).

Fairy Tale Tilda

***Please scroll down for Karen's Doodles post***

Tomorrow marks the release on video of Disney's The Princess and The Frog which is a MUST for my collection.  It was the first movie hubby and I ever took our daughter too.  Unfortunately we learned from that experience that she will not sit through a movie in the theatre - at home, yes, at the theatre, definately NOT!  So in celebration, I have to share with you tonight, Fairy Tale Tilda which I ordered from Magnolia-licious.  She arrived less than a week after I ordered her - I was so impressed with Diana...and Canada Post.  My daughter decided that she needed to wear a yellow dress and I coloured her hair to match my little princess.

I used my precious Wild Orchid flowers for this card, but then, nothing but the best for Tilda!  This week's challenge at Lili of the Valley is easel cards, so:

Ta Da!  I love this image so it was easy to decide that she needed to be showcased in an easel card.  The sketch on the front is this week's challenge at Friday Sketchers and she was coloured with my beloved copics using both the caucasian skin and red hair techniques from Copic Creations.  Tilda will also be entered into the challenges at Cute Card Thursday (celebrations - birthday should count), Fussy and Fancy (green), Cupcake Crafts (going green), and The Pink Elephant (spring - colours).  Wow, Tilda should be happy with that list!

Thank you for looking!  I'll have a special surprise for you tomorrow...one of my new stamps from hAnglar & stAnglar!  I look forward to seeing you again!
