Autopsy - Ashes, Organs, Blood and Crypts (2023)

Ashes, Organs, Blood and Crypts is the tenth album from death metal pionneers (their demo was released in 1987!) Autopsy. And its name says it all. Disgusting old school thrashy death metal with the usual doomy twists à la Autopsy. And still Chris Reifert on vocals. When death refuses to die (and t's a good thing because we want some more!).

Autopsy - Morbidity Triumphant (2022)

Morbidity Triumphant is the ninth album from Autopsy, seven years after the previous one (and like 35 years after the bands beginnings!). Still their usual mix of old-school death metal (which of course was new when they started), Slayer and Black Sabbath. And Chris Reifert is still an instantly recognisable and awesome death metal vocalist.

They're not reinveinting the scalpel but sure are still slicing sharp and deep.

Autopsy - Tourniquets hacksaws and graves (2014)

Autopsy are definitely back! after an excellent Headless ritual (read my review Here) they stroke again in 2014 with another really good album nicely called Tourniquets, hacksaws and graves. well, maybe it's not as good as Headless ritual, maybe it's a little bit more straightforward with less surprising twists in the songs. But it's still a really good and enjoyable old school death metal album. Easily better than most other death metal release. I said it was old school, but don't think old school like early nineties, it's more old school like late eighties (the band started in 1987) and some songs wouldn't sound really out of place on Hell awaits (the second Slayer album). So it's kinda proto-death metal more than old school death metal. anyway it sounds like Autopsy (with the trashy / punk rythms, the great grotesque vocals of Chris Reifert, the crazy soloing, the morbid melodies, the slower doomy parts, etc.) and Autopsy is good for you!

Autopsy - The headless ritual (2013)

The headless ritual is the sixth Autopsy album and their second since their return. and if you liked it then, you'll probably like it now. it's the same quality that their good ol' albums had with a more modern sound. is an Autopsy album relevant in 2013? I think so. Chris Reifert vocals are still so special in the grotesque category, and their own special brand of death metal songwriting is still there, with the old school death metal punkish drumming, the crazy solos, the catchy riffing, the doomier parts. it's Autopsy, it's special and it's really cool. what you like in good ol' death metal they do it, but like no others, in their own twisted way. good dirty fun!
