I literally did cut up a million little pieces of paper with peoples names on them, and tossed them into a hat. I couldn't find my Aquaman hat, so I used this just-as-appropriate-one instead:
 sg
sg
I had Darlin' Tracy pick the names, just to make sure there was no accidental bias (not that there could be, since we held the hat behind us).

So here are the winners of our four awesome Aqua-Prizes:

Also, we of course must thank Geoff Johns, Ivan Reis, Joe Prado, Rod Reis, and Ivan daCosta, whose generosity made this effort possible. You guys are the true superheroes!

Hurricane Sandy Relief - Update 11

sg
You did it, Aqua-Fans!

Late last night, our Hurricane Sandy Relief effort passed the $1,000 mark, and with the Shrine rounding up to the nearest fifty dollars we donated a total of $1,150.00.

Because the Red Cross accepts donations via Paypal, there was zero delay between our effort ending and the money going right to where it's needed:
sg

We will be following up with one more post officially recognizing everyone who donated and awarding the Aqua-Prizes shortly. But know for now that you all helped do a very, very good thing!

Thank you!

Hurricane Sandy Relief - Update 10

sg
Now that the Hurricane Sandy Relief effort has concluded, the Aquaman Shrine is thrilled to report that, thanks to you Aqua-Fans generosity of spirit and wallet, we have crossed the $1,000 threshold!

Final totals and raffle winners will be announced shortly. The Aquaman Shrine will be making the donation ASAP so the money gets to those who need it also ASAP.

Thanks again to everyone who donated, commented, and spread the word!

Hurricane Sandy Relief - Update 6

sg
Just thought I'd post another update on the Shrine's Hurricane Sandy Relief raffle.

So far, we've raised a little over $800--a good number, but we still have time to raise so much more. I want to see a comma in there, Aqua-Fans. We have three days left and I'm sure we can do it. The Aquaman Shrine gets over 1,000 unique visitors every day (and we're not even counting those who visit our Twitter feed and Facebook pages), so if just half of you donated one measly buck to the effort, we'd sail past the 1K mark!

Remember, by donating you are placed in the running for one of the following four items:

Added to the list is this page of original artwork by Ivan Reis, from Aquaman #13, donated by the artist himself:

Hurricane Sandy Relief - Update 5

sg
Just thought I'd post another update on the Shrine's Hurricane Sandy Relief raffle.

Hurricane Sandy Relief - Update 4

sg
The Aquaman Shrine is thrilled to announce two more amazing prizes that you can win by donating to our Red Cross Relief effort for the victims of Hurricane Sandy!

Added to the list is this page of original artwork by Ivan Reis, from Aquaman #13, donated by the artist himself:
sg

The fourth and last prize is a script for Aquaman #1, signed by the author, Geoff Johns! Even though Geoff is on vacation halfway around the world, he took the time to let the Shrine know that he's happy to be part of this effort, and is generously donating an autographed script.

So by donating, you'll be entered in a the raffle to win items from Geoff Johns, Ivan Reis, Joe Prado, and the whole Aqua-Team!:

Hurricane Sandy Relief - Update 3

sg
So far today we're pretty behind where we were yesterday, in terms of donations. I have to guess that's because today is Election Day in the United States, and a lot of people are running from work to vote, or the other way around. Or, just as likely, they're sick of hearing about it anymore and just staying off the internet entirely.

But the Shrine has a large audience spread out all over the world, so the rest of you need to step up and give give give! I realize the whole concept of "New Jersey" may not mean much to people who don't live in the United States (heck, it doesn't mean much to a lot of people who do), but it has been Shrine Central since we launched back in 2006.

A reminder: Below are two of the items we're raffling off (courtesy Joe Prado and Ivan da Costa) and tomorrow we'll be announcing two more Aqua-Prizes which are...say it with me...outrageous!

Hurricane Sandy Relief - Update 2

sg
Thanks to the generosity of a great many Aqua-Fans, I am thrilled to report that the Shrine's Hurricane Sandy Relief raffle raised over $200 in just one day!

That means if we can keep that rate up every day for the remaining six of the drive, we will be able to send over $1,400 to the Red Cross. And that would be amazing.

So to those of you who donated and/or shared this post, thank you, and let's keep going!
