All The Rage by Courtney Summers

From Goodreads: The sheriff’s son, Kellan Turner, is not the golden boy everyone thinks he is, and Romy Grey knows that for a fact. Because no one wants to believe a girl from the wrong side of town, the truth about him has cost her everything—friends, family, and her community. Branded a liar and bullied relentlessly by a group of kids she used to hang out with, Romy’s only refuge is the diner where she works outside of town. No one knows her name or her past there; she can finally be anonymous. But when a girl with ties to both Romy and Kellan goes missing after a party, and news of him assaulting another girl in a town close by gets out, Romy must decide whether she wants to fight or carry the burden of knowing more girls could get hurt if she doesn’t speak up. Nobody believed her the first time—and they certainly won’t now — but the cost of her silence might be more than she can bear.

With a shocking conclusion and writing that will absolutely knock you out, All the Rage examines the shame and silence inflicted upon young women after an act of sexual violence, forcing us to ask ourselves: In a culture that refuses to protect its young girls, how can they survive?

I am a massive fan of Courtney Summer's books and this one is no exception.  It is so good!

It is a very powerful story and I found myself sucked into it straight away.  Summers'  always has the knack of putting me right in there with the main character and really experiencing how they feel.  I felt very angry when I was reading this!

Rape is a tough subject to write about and do it justice.  There are no easy answers here and I thought Summers' really managed to capture that with this novel.  What happens to Romy is awful but the problem is that it does happen - and that in itself is very, very scary.

My only complaint is that I didn't feel as much of a connection between Romy and Leon as I had from the characters in her previous novels.  But in some ways that too felt true to Romy's character - the place she was in during the events of this story meant she would probably have been taking very timid steps before establishing a relationship.

Another brilliant read from Courtney Summers.  I can't wait to read whatever she writes next.

Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson by Paige Toon

From Goodreads: The first YA fiction novel, from the bestselling adult author Paige Toon.

Meet Jessie, the daughter of Johnny Jefferson, as featured in Johnny Be Good and Baby Be Mine…

My fifteenth birthday was the worst day of my life, and it's inconceivable to think that any single day in my future will ever be as bad. My mum was killed in a freak accident on her way to pick up my cake. Even when there was still no sign of her after two hours later, and my friends started to arrive at our house, it never occurred to me that she wouldn't be coming back.

That was six months ago. My mum died without telling me who my real dad was. And for a while I hated her for it. I thought she's taken the secret of my father's identity with her forever. But she didn't. Holy hell, she didn't. Because three weeks ago I found out the truth. And I'm still reeling from the shock of it. My dad is none other than Johnny Jefferson, mega famous rock star and one-time serial womaniser. And now I'm on my way to LA to meet him and his family.

My tiny little world has just got a whole lot bigger…

Having loved all the books I've read my Paige Toon it comes as no surprise to me that I LOVED this! It's SO good! I loved Jessie, the setting, her relationship with her step dad, finding out who her real dad is, and then her meeting the famous Johnny Jefferson! I think having been a massive fan of the adult novels set in this world I was even more excited to catch up with Johnny, Meg and Barney (who is seriously cute! He needs more scenes!) and to meet Phoenix (also cute!) And I loved seeing them all though Jessie eyes (although I had to then question whether lusting after her dad was a bit weird…?) Anyway…

Can’t wait for more of this series – I have the feeling it will be one of my favourites.  I'm looking forward to seeing how see copes with being Johnny Jefferson’s daughter and I can’t wait to see how her relationships with Jack and Tom pan out!

Get Ready For Dangerous Creatures: Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl have a brand new series set in the same world as their Beautiful Creatures series.  I am so excited! I love this series and can't wait to read the new series!

Dangerous Creatures is available to pre-order now and will be published 20th May.

I will be re-posting my reviews of the Beautiful Creatures Series (Caster Chronicles Series) each week to get you ready for Dangerous Creatures.  If you haven't read them yet I highly recommend them (the film is awesome too!)  And if you have, well, it's a good time for a re-read:-D
----

From Goodreads: Is death the end . . . or only the beginning?

Ethan Wate has spent most of his life longing to escape the stiflingly small Southern town of Gatlin. He never thought he would meet the girl of his dreams, Lena Duchannes, who unveiled a secretive, powerful, and cursed side of Gatlin, hidden in plain sight. And he never could have expected that he would be forced to leave behind everyone and everything he cares about. So when Ethan awakes after the chilling events of the Eighteenth Moon, he has only one goal: to find a way to return to Lena and the ones he loves.

Back in Gatlin, Lena is making her own bargains for Ethan's return, vowing to do whatever it takes -- even if that means trusting old enemies or risking the lives of the family and friends Ethan left to protect.

Worlds apart, Ethan and Lena must once again work together to rewrite their fate, in this stunning finale to the Beautiful Creatures series

I have to admit I was both really excited to read this and a bit apprehensive - one of the things I loved about the previous books in the series was Ethan's voice so considering how Beautiful Chaos ended I wondered if that might be an issue - it was not.  We got both Ethan and Lena narrating the story and I loved it!

Once I started reading I had a feeling I knew how this would end - but I did really enjoy getting there. And it was the perfect ending - romantic but not without sacrifice to earn it.   I was pleased to see all the characters I have grown to love feature again and this instalment was just as action packed as the others. I have to say I really do love Ridley which is getting me even more excited for Dangerous Creatures!

I have really enjoyed this series - I love Ethan and Lena and can see myself re-reading this series on a regular basis.  I also can't wait to explore the world more with Ridley and Link!  I think I would love a book featuring Liv too!

Get Ready For Dangerous Creatures: Beautiful Chaos by Kami Garcia and Margatet Stohl

----

From Amazon: Some loves are meant to be. Others are cursed...

Ethan wate is in love with a caster girl.

When he looks at Lena, it's like there's no one else in the world.

But Ethan is mortal, and on her seventeenth birthday Lena made a choice that changed everything. The girl Ethan loves has broken the world with the supernatural powers she is struggling to control...

Now, if they are to fix the chaos Lena has caused, one of them must make a terrible sacrifice. Sometimes there isn't just one answer. Sometimes there's no going back. And this time there won't be a happy ending.

I'm really enjoying getting back into this series - I quickly remembered how much I enjoyed the series and the characters.  Picking up the story where we left it with Beautiful Darkness, we find Ethan and Lena trying to deal with the consequences of her choice...

I've said this in previous reviews but I adore Ethan and it really is his voice that make this series work so well for me.  He's loyal, brave, often humorous too - I found myself laughing at some of the ways he describes things.  I love getting to see the story unfold with him

All the characters I loved in the previous books are back.  I love Link and Ridley and was glad to see Liv included too.  I love them all!  The pacing is great too - there is an ominous feel to this one.  I wasn't sure what was going on exactly but I had the feeling it wasn't going to end well!  So the ending was kind of expected, but thrilling at the same time,.  I loved it and can't wait to see where this will all go in Beautiful Redemption!

Baby Be Mine by Paige Toon

From Goodreads: 'He's not mine, is he?' That's the question I fear the most. You see, I have a secret. My son is not fathered by my boyfriend, but by one of the most famous people that ever lived. And he doesn't even know it.

One-time celebrity personal assistant to wild boy of rock Johnny Jefferson, Meg Stiles is now settled and living in the south of France with her doting boyfriend Christian and son Phoenix. But they're living a lie - a lie that will turn their lives upside down and inside out. Because Meg's son doesn't look like Christian, he looks like his rock star father and, sooner or later, the world is going to realize ...

I think I may have loved Meg and Johnny even more in this one! Yes I think what Meg does (did) is awful – there is no getting around that and I felt so, so sorry for Christian because you know it’s not going to end well – but you can also understand the motivation behind her decision and how much it is making her hate herself – so I kind of felt sorry for her too.

Again it plays out really well and kept me completely hooked (and I absolutely love Johnny even if I kind of hate myself for it too because he really does have issues!) Still that’s probably the attraction right?

I’m so please this world is now going to be explored in her YA novel!  I can't wait!

Johnny Be Good by Paige Toon

From Goodreads: If your boss was the hottest rock star on the planet, would you mix business with pleasure?

I'm Meg Stiles. This is my leaving party. And that song we're making a mockery of? That's written by one of the biggest rock stars in the world. And I'm moving in with him tomorrow.

Seriously! I am not even joking. Well, maybe I'm misleading you a little bit. You see, I haven't actually met him yet...

No, I'm not a stalker. I'm his new PA. His Personal Assistant. And I am off to La-La Land. Los Angeles. The City of Angels—whatever you want to call it—and I can't bloody believe it!

Celebrity PA to wild boy of rock Johnny Jefferson, Meg's glam new life in sun-drenched LA is a whirlwind of showbiz parties and backstage passes. Cool, calm Christian, in town to write his famous friend's biography, helps keep Meg's feet firmly on the ground. But with Johnny's piercing green eyes and a body Brad Pitt would kill for, how long will it be before she's swept right off them again?

I love Paige Toon! I just fall in love with her books and characters. I loved Meg and OMG!!! How much did I love Johnny?! Although I do have to say this certainly shows the less ‘glamorous’ side to sex, drugs and rock & roll…

I also really liked Christian and strangely I was not disappointed with the ending – I would have thought I’d feel differently? Perhaps knowing there was a sequel made me feel that way.. And let’s just say I pretty much had it in my hand the moment I finished Johnny be Good! I couldn’t wait to see how it would all play out!

How to Love by Kate Cotugno

Publisher: Quercus
ISBN: 9781782060000
Release Date: October 2013
Source: Provided for review by the publisher.

From Goodreads: This is a love story. But it’s not what you think. This is not a first kiss, or a first date. This is not love at first sight. This is a boy and a girl falling in messy, unpredictable, thrilling love. This is the complicated route to happiness that follows.

This is real. This is life. This is how to love.

BEFORE:

Reena has loved Sawyer LeGrande for as long as she can remember. But he’s never noticed her, until one day… he does. They fall in messy, complicated love. But then Sawyer disappears from their humid Florida town, leaving a devastated – and pregnant – Reena behind.

AFTER:

Three years later and there’s a new love in Reena’s life: her daughter Hannah. But just as swiftly and suddenly as he disappeared, Sawyer turns up again.

After everything that’s happened, can Reena really let herself love Sawyer again?(less)

Just brilliant! I was completely addicted to this. I loved both the characters – although not the ‘before’ Sawyer quite so much as the ‘after' one. ‘Before' Sawyer was just a little too messed up and he seemed intent on dragging Reena down with him! Yes he had issues and I can understand his downward spiral – I just didn't like the way he seemed to want Reena to do the same. But I loved Reena and how complicated and flawed she was. How flawed they both were – I read so many stories with the perfect character doing the right thing - and while this isn't a bad thing-  it’s great to finally have a story where it’s messy and complicated!

I also loved the way it was written – with the before and after segments. Reena’s relationship with her dad and Soledad. Plus her friendship with Shelbe. I wish she’d treated Aaron better though – I hated her a little bit for that.

Plus I liked the ending. For me – despite what happens next, if it works out or not, Reena finally let someone in! And that, to me, was the point!

Red Rising by Pierce Brown

Publisher: Hodder & Stoughton
ISBN
Release Date: 16 January 2014
Source: Amazon Vine

From Goodreads: The war begins...

Darrow is a Helldiver, one of a thousand men and women who live in the vast caves beneath the surface of Mars. Generations of Helldivers have spent their lives toiling to mine the precious elements that will allow the planet to be terraformed. Just knowing that one day people will be able to walk the surface of the planet is enough to justify their sacrifice. The Earth is dying, and Darrow and his people are the only hope humanity has left.

Until the day Darrow learns that it is all a lie. Mars is habitable - and indeed has been inhabited for generations by a class of people calling themselves the Golds. The Golds regard Darrow and his fellows as slave labour, to be exploited and worked to death without a second thought.

With the help of a mysterious group of rebels, Darrow disguises himself as a Gold and infiltrates their command school, intent on taking down his oppressors from the inside.

But the command school is a battlefield. And Darrow isn't the only student with an agenda...

This is so good! I had no idea what to expect when I began reading - Dystopian? Science fiction or fantasy? Well I'm still not sure but it is so, so good. I was completely gripped!

I loved the way it was written - the voice the author gives to Darrow not only makes it a pleasure to read but also makes the book work on another level by making what Darrow is doing that more believable - it's so eloquent, intelligent, and full of details and insights that really make the story great. And Darrow great as well - someone worth investing in. I was completely immersed in his world, his journey, I didn't want it to end. I can't wait to read the next installment!

Definitely recommended!

After Eden by Helen Douglas

Publisher: Bloomsbury
ISBN: 978-1408828694
Release Date: November 2013
Source: Amazon Vine/purchased

From Goodreads: Eden Anfield loves puzzles, so when mysterious new boy Ryan Westland shows up at her school she's hooked. On the face of it, he's a typical American teenager. So why doesn't he recognise pizza? And how come he hasn't heard of Hitler? What puzzles Eden the most, however, is the interest he's taking in her.

As Eden starts to fall in love with Ryan, she begins to unravel his secret. Her breakthrough comes one rainy afternoon when she stumbles across a book in Ryan's bedroom - a biography of her best friend - written over fifty years in the future. Confronting Ryan, she discovers that he is there with one unbelievably important purpose ... and she might just have destroyed his only chance of success.

I really enjoyed this one. Loved the writing, the characters and the plot! It's full of mystery (I loved working out what was going on and then wondering if they were going to pull it off), romance and ... well I probably shouldn't say as it would be a bit of a spoiler and I had so much fun finding out what was happening ... but let's just say it's one of my favourite story lines and done really well!

I really loved the characters in this - Eden, Connor and Ryan. They all have great chemistry - the friendship between her and Connor and the building of a romance between her and Ryan. And I loved the England setting.

I loved the ending too - there is a sequel due and while the ending keeps that in mind there is no major cliffhanger which quite frankly is brilliant! I can't wait to find out what happens next!

Highly recommended!

My Life Undecided by Jessica Brody

Release Date: June 2011
Source: Purchased

From Goodreads: PLEASE READ THIS! MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!

Okay, maybe that was a bit melodramatic, but I’m sorry, I’m feeling a bit melodramatic at the moment.

Here’s the deal. My name is Brooklyn Pierce, I’m fifteen years old, and I am decisionally challenged. Seriously, I can’t remember the last good decision I made. I can remember plenty of crappy ones though. Including that party I threw when my parents were out of town that accidentally burned down a model home. Yeah, not my finest moment, for sure.

But see, that’s why I started a blog. To enlist readers to make my decisions for me. That’s right. I gave up. Threw in the towel. I let someone else decide which book I read for English. And whether or not I accepted an invitation to join the debate team from that cute-in-a-dorky-sort-of-way guy who gave me the Heimlich maneuver in the cafeteria. (Note to self: chew the melon before swallowing it.) I even let them decide who I dated!

Well, it turns out there are some things in life you simply can’t choose or have chosen for you—like who you fall in love with. And now everything’s more screwed up than ever.

But don’t take my word for it. Read the book and decide for yourself. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll scream in frustration. Or maybe that’s just me. After all, it’s my life.

As with the Karma Club and 52 Reasons to Hate my Father I loved this. I really liked the idea behind the story - that she wanted to use the blog as a way of making descision – since her own were so bad!

Brooklyn is one of those characters you just know is going to get into trouble – lets just say trouble has pretty much followed her all her life! - so I was very intrigued to see how she would cope with the blog and them making choices for her. I wasn’t convinced she would do what they said!

As with previous books by Jessica Brody this is such good fun. It’s funny, sweet and again I loved the romance element of the book. I can’t wait to read more of her books.

Publisher: Walker Books for Young Readers (US) S&S (UK)
ISBN: 9780802733900 (US) 9781471116742 (UK)
Release Date: Feb 2013

This is published as Spy Society in the UK

From Goodreads: Which is more dangerous: being an international spy... or surviving high school?

Maggie Silver has never minded her unusual life. Cracking safes for the world's premier spy organization and traveling the world with her insanely cool parents definitely beat high school and the accompanying cliques, bad lunches, and frustratingly simple locker combinations. (If it's three digits, why bother locking it at all?)

But when Maggie and her parents are sent to New York City for her first solo assignment, her world is transformed. Suddenly, she's attending a private school with hundreds of "mean girl" wannabes, trying to avoid the temptation to hack the school's elementary security system, and working to befriend the aggravatingly cute son of a potential national security threat... all while trying not to blow her cover.

From the hilarious and poignant author of Audrey, Wait! comes a fast-paced caper that proves that even the world's greatest spies don't have a mission plan for love.

Having absolutely loved Audrey Wait I knew I’d probably enjoy this one – and I really did! It is so much fun – I loved it! It’s kind of a cross between the TV show Alias and Gallager Girls, with something else thrown in.

I loved the concept – the way the family work for the collective and that they have for all of Maggie life. Plus I love the way she has all these skill (safe cracking, forgery etc) but can’t quite master high school. Throw in Roux (she totally rocks!) and Jesse and I was completely sold!

I really love Roux. She has absolutely no filter and is the kind of person who says and does what most people are just thinking. But there is a vulnerability there to which makes her someone you want to squish!

Jesse was adorable from his first scene – and I like the friendship/chemistry between him and Maggie. I also loved Angelo and Maggie’s parents.

Great stuff – sign me up for the sequel!   I'd like it now please.

Parallel by Lauren Miller

Publisher: Harper Teen (US) Scholastic (UK)

Release Date: May/June 2013

From Goodreads: Abby Barnes had a plan. The Plan. She'd go to Northwestern, major in journalism, and land a job at a national newspaper, all before she turned twenty-two. But one tiny choice—taking a drama class her senior year of high school—changed all that. Now, on the eve of her eighteenth birthday, Abby is stuck on a Hollywood movie set, miles from where she wants to be, wishing she could rewind her life. The next morning, she's in a dorm room at Yale, with no memory of how she got there. Overnight, it's as if her past has been rewritten.

With the help of Caitlin, her science-savvy BFF, Abby discovers that this new reality is the result of a cosmic collision of parallel universes that has Abby living an alternate version of her life. And not only that: Abby's life changes every time her parallel self makes a new choice. Meanwhile, her parallel is living out Abby's senior year of high school and falling for someone Abby's never even met.

As she struggles to navigate her ever-shifting existence, forced to live out the consequences of a path she didn't choose, Abby must let go of the Plan and learn to focus on the present, without losing sight of who she is, the boy who might just be her soul mate, and the destiny that's finally within reach.

Ooh! This was good! Something a bit different – clever and enjoyable!

I loved the concept of this story – as soon as I heard about it I knew I wanted to read it. And I’m so glad it lived up to those expectations. I’m not even going to attempt to explain the science behind it – it makes sense when you read it (kind of!) – but it really works. And I was totally addicted to it!

I loved the characters in this. Abby and her best friend Caitlin. Micheal and Josh (especially Josh!). I loved the romance elements of the story – plus not knowing what was going to happen – how simple changes in the past affect the present. There was also a bit of a mystery too – why this was happening and if Abby would get back to ’her@ life.

Loved the ending. It was completely different than I was expecting so major kudos for that. I’m definitely interested to see what Lauren Miller writes next!

Something Wicked by AJ Myers

Release Date: 2 September 2013
Source: Provided for review

From Goodreads: Welcome back to the World of Weird! I’m Ember Blaylock, and I’ll be your guide through this treacherous—sometimes downright deadly—world I call my own. Because if you thought our last trek through my reality was a rollercoaster ride, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

I thought I was going to get my life back. I swore off all things witchy. I lied to everyone I cared about. I was even dealing with the nightmares that plagued me every night—souvenirs of my first foray through this not-so-wonderful world of mine. Seriously, if the World of Weird doesn’t leave you with your fair share of issues, nothing will. I really thought I could go back to being a normal senior in high school.

I was so wrong.

Between my doubts about giving my heart to my vampire boyfriend, uncovering a whole new set of secrets and lies, and seeing my old friend Jack every time I turned around, there was nothing ‘normal’ about my life.

And if that wasn’t enough to keep a girl on her toes, Moonlight, Missouri just got its very own serial killer. A real psycho who seems to think it’s fun to turn his victims into Ember clones—and this creeper isn’t working alone. He’s got help. The witchy kind. Sucks to be me, huh?

And you thought just surviving high school was tough…

Even better than the first instalment - I loved Something Wicked. Ember is completely kick ass, Nathan as swoon-worthy as ever and I loved Ember's friends even more in this one! And are Grams rocks!

I am really intrigued by Tyler too. He's so likeable - I *think* I know what he is and I hope we find out soon. More worryingly though, is the traitor we learnt about at the end of book one...

Absolutely loved the ending - and it means I am guaranteed to read Something Wanton the day it is released. I think I may have found a new favourite series.

So yes, it is safe to say I can't wait for Something Wanton to be released!  In the meantime I get to enjoy the novella Eternally.  Nate's POV?  Hell yes!

Have a Little Faith by Candy Harper

Publisher: Simon & Schuster
ISBN: 9780857078247
Release Date: 1 August 2013
Source: Provided by the publisher for review

From Goodreads:  Being fourteen is a minefield: with fashion dilemmas, teacher trauma, embarrassing parents and boy drama, Faith is just hoping to make it through Year Ten without too many disasters. But when she and her best friend Megs sign up to take part in an inter-school choir with the local boys comprehensive, Faith's life gets even more complicated… just how is she supposed to concentrate on becoming the next Cheryl Cole when she's trying to understand how teenage boys' minds work?

OMG! How much did I love Faith!!! She is so awesome and the whole book was an absolute joy to read.

Faith is a bit quirky, but boy is she funny! I had so many laugh out loud moments I was getting really strange looks. She is constantly getting herself into trouble and the things she says sometimes! Her voice is definitely what makes this book!

I loved her friends too - especially Megs. You can definitely tell why they are friends. And I also have to say the moment Ethan uttered his first sentence had me convinced he is the perfect match for Faith...

I was really disappointed when I got to the end - I wanted more! However, it is a good place to leave things until the sequel which is due next year. I just wish I could read it now! I can't wait to find out what Faith gets up to next.

Perfect for fans of Louise Rennison, Sue Limb and Karen Saunders!

Invisible by Marni Bates

Publisher: K-Teen
ISBN: 9780758269386
Release Date: 1 August 2018
Source: Provided by publisher for review via Netgalley.

From Goodreads: Jane Smith has survived three years of high school without making a single enemy, all by keeping a low profile. Not even her three best friends, Kenzie, Corey and Isobel, can say the same. But with Corey dating the lead singer from ReadySet and Kenzie in a relationship too, being invisible tends to be lonely. But now she's written an article for her school newspaper that has accidentally snagged the attention of some celebrities. Turns out, people get really upset when their innermost secrets are splashed all over the front page. And new her well-ordered life is being blasted to hell, with results that are wildly unexpected.

I officially love Marni Bates. To be honest I already knew that after reading Awkward and Decked With Holly – her books are so much fun you can’t help but fall in love with them.

Set in the same world as her previous books, we return to Smith High and get Jane’s story. With both her best friends pushed into the limelight (Mackenzie through the hilarious you tube video and Corey because he’s dating a famous band member) – you can understand why Jane feels… well invisible.

I really felt for Jane in this. You get why she feels the way she does but I did get annoyed at her too for not talking to Mackenzie and Corey. And when everything comes to a head it really did pull on the heartstrings too – I really felt for them all.

Add a really sweet romance (she rocks at this!) and this is another winner.

Just really good fun – I want Notable now please!

The Sound by Sarah Alderson

Publisher: Simon & Schuster
ISBN: 9781471115738
Release Date: 1 August 2013
Source: Provided by the publisher for review.

From Goodreads: When aspiring music journalist Ren Kingston takes a job nannying for a wealthy family on the exclusive island of Nantucket, playground for Boston's elite, she's hoping for a low-key summer reading books and blogging about bands. Boys are firmly off the agenda.

What she doesn't count on is falling in with a bunch of party-loving private school kids who are hiding some dark secrets, falling (possibly) in love with the local bad boy, and falling out with a dangerous serial killer...

The gripping new stand-alone novel from the author of Hunting Lila.

Sarah Alderson officially rocks! I loved her previous books and can now add The Sound to that list. Does it have anything to do with her ability to create hot, swoon-worthy guys. Well yes! But she also has the most addictive style of writing – I always find myself completely engrossed in her stories.

I loved Ren from the moment the story began. She has that sass - managing to hold her own but also being really likeable. I must admit I wasn’t very taken with her friends - I found myself wincing every time she interacted with them. Of course, as soon as Jesse was introduced I was practically shouting at her to ditch the others and hang out with him instead. Although a couple of them did turn out okay in the end...

And I have to mention Braiden and Brodie! How much did I love Brodie?

I also really loved the mystery element – both in the murders and what had happened between Jesse and Tyler the previous year. I must admit I kind of guess what had happened between them and why – but I enjoyed watching Ren work it out as well. I didn’t however solve the murder part of the story!

So yes, I really enjoyed this. I think it’s a standalone story – but I have to say I would love, love, love to catch up with these characters again so if she decided to write another I would be first in line to read it.

In the meantime, I shall wait impatiently for Control to be published! Roll on next year!

You know when everyone is talking about how good a book is and you kind of really want to read it but are also slightly scared that it wont live up to all the hype?  That pretty much sums up how I felt about Dangerous Girls - not only does it sound amazing but so many people kept telling me I would be blown away.  Any you know what - it completely lived up to all the hype and glowing reviews that surround it.  I loved it!

One thing that really surprised me was how engrossed and mesmerised I was by the story when I pretty much disliked every single character.  I found I just couldn't warm to Anna. Elise annoyed me straight away and I felt Tate tried too hard to be / do the perfect thing - you just knew underneath he wasn't going to be able to live up to that.  So I found it really clever that I still wanted to read the book - that I was totally invested in what had happened / what was happening - and I think that is the key to this book.  The way it is put together means you really don't know for sure until the very end what really happened (even if you do suspect!)

Speaking of the end - I loved it and think it made what would have be a really good book a fantastic book!  But I also felt just a little bit cheated in the sense I just wanted a little bit more from that last scene.  I think you'll understand what I mean when you read it.  Because you really should read it.

It would also make the most amazing movie!  Just saying...

Pivot Point by Kasie West

Publisher: HaperTeen
ISBN: 9780062117373
Release Date: 12 February 3013
Source: Purchased.

Knowing the outcome doesn’t always make a choice easier . . .

Addison Coleman’s life is one big “What if?” As a Searcher, whenever Addie is faced with a choice, she can look into the future and see both outcomes. It’s the ultimate insurance plan against disaster. Or so she thought. When Addie’s parents ambush her with the news of their divorce, she has to pick who she wants to live with—her father, who is leaving the paranormal compound to live among the “Norms,” or her mother, who is staying in the life Addie has always known. Addie loves her life just as it is, so her answer should be easy. One Search six weeks into the future proves it’s not.

In one potential future, Addie is adjusting to life outside the Compound as the new girl in a Norm high school where she meets Trevor, a cute, sensitive artist who understands her. In the other path, Addie is being pursued by the hottest guy in school—but she never wanted to be a quarterback’s girlfriend. When Addie’s father is asked to consult on a murder in the Compound, she’s unwittingly drawn into a dangerous game that threatens everything she holds dear. With love and loss in both lives, it all comes down to which reality she’s willing to live through . . . and who she can’t live without.

So... I freaking loved this book! Having just read Kasie West's contemporary romance The Distance Between Us I knew I really liked her writing style. And Pivot Point sounded awesome so I'm super please that it was!

The book alternates with each chapter, each depicting one of the potential futures. It was really easy to follow which was which (also helped by the cute chapter headings) and I found myself equally invested in each. Addie is a really likeable character - and I loved her best friend Laila - their banter back and forth is brilliant. Boywise - I instantly knew who I liked (and willed Addie to feel the same!) But the story isn't just about which boy - much more is going on and the choice Addie has to make is harder than you think...

I love this kind of story. It's contemporary which an edge - is it sc-fi/paranormal? Not sure, but I do know I like it! I didn't realise that this was going to be the first in a series - it certainly works as a standalone - but I am really glad to get more. I can't wait for Split Second when it comes out next year!

Requiem by Lauren Oliver

For Review: Hodder & Stoughton
Published: 20 March 2013

From Goodreads: Battling against a society in which love has been declared a disease, Lena now finds herself at the centre of a fierce revolution. But the Wilds are no longer the haven they once were as the government seeks to stamp out the rebels. And Lena's emotions are in turmoil following the dramatic return of someone she thought was lost forever...

Told from the alternating viewpoints of Lena and her best friend Hana, Requiem brings the Delirium trilogy to an exhilarating end and showcases Lauren Oliver at the height of her writing powers - emotionally powerful and utterly enthralling.

Considering the end of Pandemonium I was desperate to read this! I had to know what was going to happen - what the implications were for Lena, and of course, I was invested in seeing if they would be able to make a difference.

One of the things I love about these books is Lauren Oliver's writing. I honestly believe she could make a shopping list sound beautiful - she definitely has a way of making you live and breathe what she is writing. I also love that the story isn't *just* about the romance - yes it played a major part for me - but there was also a lot of other characters I was interested in and I wanted to see them make a difference in the world they were forced to live in. Because of this, I did kind of like the ending. I like that it's not defined by who Lena 'chose' - it was more than that. But it does leave things somewhat unfinished. So yes, I would like more. I would be lying if I said I didn't - but I also feel I can fill in those blanks myself and decide how I want the story to continue - and I kind of like that. Still, if Lauren Oliver ever decided to write a fourth book I would so be there...

I can't wait to read whatever Lauren Oliver writes next! I have really enjoyed each book she has written and I am super excited to see where she takes us next.

Drummer Girl by Bridget Tyler

For Review: Templar
Published: 1 May 2013

From Templar: Gossip Girl meets American Idol, meets Glee's evil twin

It was supposed to be the summer of her life. Instead, 17-year-old Lucy finds her best friend Harper shot dead in an LA swimming pool. How did it come to this? Lucy Gosling is the drummer in Crush, a rock band formed by five London schoolgirls that has just won the UK semi-final of an international talent contest. But when the band lands in Hollywood for the big final, things are not quite as they seem. The band's lead singer, Harper, has just one thing on her mind – using sex, drugs and rock and roll, not to mention Crush itself, to win back her bad-news exboyfriend.

Lucy must decide whether she's playing to Harper's tune, or setting the rhythm for the rest of the band…

As soon as I read the synopsis for this I knew I had to read it! 'Gossip Girl meets American Idol, meets Glee's evil twin' Hell yes! And I absolutely loved it! I love this kind of setting - the whole behind the scenes of fame - putting relatable characters into that setting and seeing how they cope!

I love how this starts too. It kind of reminded me of the beginning teaser of a TV show - giving you a taste of what is going to happen and then taking you back to watch it all unfold. Usually I prefer first person narrative but for some reason with this I loved getting the story from different points of view and I didn't really notice the third person narrative. I still felt as if I were in the head of the person telling the story at that time. And the jumping back and forth could have been confusing but it really wasn't - plus there was so much going on and many different story threads - all equally compelling. I really enjoyed it.

This story certainly shows the darker side of fame - how easy it is to be lead in a direction you wouldn't have thought you'd take. It makes for very interesting reading - and it gave the story much more depth than I was originally expecting.

I have to say I would love for this to be a series - or at least have a sequel. I really enjoyed the characters and would love to catch up with them again. Especially Lucy! And there is one storyline I would like to see tied up a little bit more...

Brilliant - I can't wait to read more by this author!
