Playing Catch Up

It's time for me to catch up on the Power Poppy challenges I missed when I couldn't get into my craft room! This card covers 2 challenges....the sketch challenge from May 28th and the Do It for Dad Challenge on June 4th.

For this card I used the new digital set Baseball Vignette. I've really been wanting the clear baseball set PP offers so until I get it this digital set is the perfect thing to have! I printed the image out, cut out the panel with a die cut, colored it, added the polka dot DSP on the bottom half and then added the banner and sentiment off to the middle right. This card would have been perfect for Father's Day but I'm going to make it a birthday card instead!

Thanks for stopping by!

Worlds Beary Best Dad

This week The Paper Players have a Tic- Tac- Toe challenge and I really enjoy those so I sat down to make a card tonight before the challenge ended. I originally was going to do 'masculine, patterned paper, texture" but I couldn't decide on a paper that I was happy with so I instead went with the very bottom row across "texture, scene, die cut".

Right now I've got bear on the brain....I watch the bear cam on explore.org every night and next month is our trip to Denali Natl Park, where we get to drive the park road all the way to the end. Last time I drove the road I saw some big bears so I'm hoping that this time doesn't disappoint either. Since my brain is so focused on bears I decided to use the set Dad + Me from Lawn Fawn.

I created my little scene by stamping the mtns in Always Artichoke and then layering them inside the MFT Stitched Cover Up Horizontal Die. The sky above the mountains is Lost Lagoon and for texture I embossed some Garden Green card stock with the retired SU Square Lattice EF. This reminds me of the grassy meadows you can often find bears in. I gave Mr. Bear a hat and then popped him up with dimensionals. I was going to add a few cubs but male bears usually eat cubs and since I'm "that type of person" I couldn't bring myself to add the babies. I'll let the sentiment do the talking LOL

Thanks for stopping by!

Super Dad

Wow, crafting two days in a row, I better enjoy this while I can LOL

Today's card was made for the current SugarPea Designs Sketch. I used the set My Hero to create my card. This is such a fun set and I know in my house all the boys/men love superhero stuff!

Thanks for stopping by!

Great Dad for Sunday Stamps

This week at Sunday Stamps it's a color challenge and I went with a neutral card for dad that could be used for a birthday or Father's Day.

The colors are based on the SU colors Vanilla, Island Indigo, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight. You can use any brand however, as long as your colors are close!

For a starting point I used a recent sketch from Paper Players and made my superhero dad from SugarPea Designs the focal point. The circle behind him is embossed with the Houndstooth TIEF and the smaller circle is Crushed Curry with some sponging done around the edges. The banner was cut from some retired Pumpkin Pie DSP.

Head on over to the Sunday Stamps blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then play along with us!

You're the Best for Friday Mashup

It's my turn to host the challenge at Friday Mashup and I've got some nature inspired colors....Cajun Craze, Garden Green and Island Indigo (you don't have to use SU colors, use any brand that is close to these shades). I'm also going for a Father's Day theme since Father's Day is next weekend.

I had every intention of doing an outdoor scene with these colors but somehow I gravitated to the set Be the Star instead. I'm not quite sure how that happened but I went with it LOL

I stamped 2 stars from the set, the biggest star in Island Indigo and then the medium size one in Garden Green. I then used the Star Framelits to cut stars out in each of the colors.

The card base is Island Indigo and I embossed a panel of Whisper White with the retired Houndstooth TIEF and adhered my stars to that, popping up the large Island Indigo star over the smaller ones. To finish off the card I took a sentiment from the retired set Best Dad Ever and stamped that in Cajun Craze at the bottom of the card.

Head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see what the rest of the DT came up with and then I hope you'll play along with us!

For All You Do--MDS card

I had some free time this afternoon so I decided to play with the SU My Digital Studio some more. I really wanted to make a card for my my dad's girlfriend, who I pretty much consider my stepmom. The entire yr that my dad battled his cancer she was right by his side and did so much for him, it was just amazing. When my dad left this world Oct.2nd she was right by his side and I know with every ounce of my being that if it hadnt been for her love he wouldnt have made it as long as he did. I love her, and I want her to always know how much I appreciate everything she has done. She is currently out of state from where her and my dad lived, visiting her mom down south, so I created this card so I could post it on her Facebook and just let her know that I was thinking about her.

I used Soft Suede as the base color, then layers of Sunny Day DSP in Pumpkin Pie. The stamps are from For All You Do and I used the colors Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler. The ribbon is Old Olive.

Pulling For You

If you have been to my blog before then you probably know that my dad has been battling cancer. He lives in CO and I try and send him cards and other things to let him know that we are thinking of him and miss him terribly. He had surgery today for an infected wound so I wanted to get a card out in the mail ASAP.

I loved the colors for Color Throwdown Challenge #99 and thought they would be perfect for a masculine card!

I went with the SU set 'Boatloads of Love' and the sentiment inside the card is from the set 'Quick Thinking'. The base of the card is Chocolate Chip and I embossed it with the CB folder D'Vine Swirls.

Supplies used(all supplies SU unless otherwise stated):
Stamps: Boatloads of Love, Quick Thinking
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Taken With Teal, Very Vanilla
Ink: Black StazOn, Real Red, Bermuda Bay, Creamy Caramel, Taken With Teal, Black
Accessories: 1 1/4" circle punch, dimensionals, Top Note die, white gel pen, D'Vine Swirl CB embossing folder, sponge
