Falling Leaves for Friday Mashup

Happy Friday! It's been a long week and I am ready to veg at home with the family this weekend!

This week Liliana is our Friday Mashup hostess and I am so sad to say this is her last challenge on the design team. I just love Liliana's work and am going to miss her! If you don't already I highly suggest following Lili's blog
HERE. Thanks for being such a wonderful DT member Lili, I learned a lot from you!

So what does Liliana want us to do? Well, she wants to see projects with leaves on them and she also wants us to use her favorite color...orange!

For my card I used the Bigz Autumn Accents die for the leaves, and punched them out of Crushed Curry and Tangerine Tango. I then embossed the leaves and inked them up with their respective colors, plus sponged on some Chocolate Chip. I added some candy dots in the upper corners as I thought it looked a bit bare.

My layout came from last weeks sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches. I didn't get a chance to play along but I loved the sketch!

I sure hope you'll head over to the Friday Mashup and join in on Liliana's challenge!

  1. Create a project with a "Tree or Leaves."
  2. Create a project using the "Color Orange."
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "Project with Leaves/ Tree & the Color Orange."

Back to School Sketch for Friday Mashup

It's time for another Friday Mashup and this week Liliana is our hostess! She is giving us a sketch, as well as a school theme. Here in the Mat-Su Valley of Alaska the kids started back to school Aug.15 but as a school district employee I went back to work towards the end of July, so we're all trying to get back into a routine. My youngest started high school and getting up at 0630 is hard after a summer of sleeping until 2 in the afternoon!

I don't have a any stamp sets that screamed 'school' at me so I went with a digital card using SU's My Digital Studio program. I used the stamp sets 'A is for Apple' and 'Thoughtful Overlays' to get my school theme. The DSP is from 'On the Go'. The 'A+' is from the 'A is for Apple' set but I created the rest of the sentiment by adding my own text.

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see the rest of the great inspiration from the DT. It looks like a few of us went digital this week!

  1. Create a project with the "Sketch."
  2. Create a project with a "School theme (books, pencils, rulers, numbers, etc."
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a "School themed project using the above Sketch. "

Beachy Masking for Friday Mashup

Mother Nature has been pretty crazy this spring and summer. Here in Alaska we had snow in mid May, and now in June we're seeing record heat, which has made a lot of Alaskans flock to the local rivers, lakes, ocean, etc.

If you go to the right beach in Alaska you might be lucky enough to see whales. There is a great spot just outside Wasilla where my family goes to watch belugas come up Cook Inlet and in May my daughter and I were in Kenai Alaska, where we happened to find a beach and then spotted beluga whales playing not too far off shore, it was pretty awesome. This was the inspiration for my Friday Mashup project.

So what is the challenge? It's brought to us by Liliana and she wants us to try the masking and use beach elements on your project also!

For my masking I masked the whale and then stamped the waves around him, then I punched out a circle for a mask and sponged around that to make my sky. I've never sponged a sky before and I think for my first attempt it came out all right! I embossed the top portion with the Cloudy Day EF and used the wave looking DSP to carry on the water theme on the bottom of the card. I finished it off with the sentiment in the bottom right corner.

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup and check out all the great projects from the rest of the design team, then play along with us!

  1. Create a project using the "Masking Technique".
  2. Create a project with some "Beach elements".

Witchy Bleaching for Friday Mashup

Hello and happy Friday to everyone! It's time for the Friday Mashup challenge and this week our challenge is brought to us by Liliana and we are definitely switching gears from last week. We are jumping from Christmas right into Halloween, which of course is just next week!

Lili wants us to create a project with a witch, use the bleaching technique or mash it up and create a project that incorporates BOTH of those elements! I chose to mash it up!

I went back a few Friday Mashup challenges and used a sketch that had been brought to us by Holly. The witch is from the set Googly Ghouls, which can be found in the holiday mini. I hadn't inked up this set yet so this challenge was the perfect excuse! The DSP is retired and was in my stash.

For the bleaching technique I used the bat stamp from Googly Ghouls, pressed it on a paper towel that was dipped in bleach and then I stamped it on some Pumpkin Pie card stock to get the look I did. Very easy technique to do!

Make sure you head over to the Friday Mashup blog to check out the projects the rest of the design team came up with and then play along with us!
  1. Make a project with a "Witch".
  2. Or Make a project using "Bleach".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create a project with a "Witch using a Bleach Technique".

Paper: Kiwi Kiss(retired), Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Basic Black, Ghostly Greetings DSP (retired)

Colorful Thanks for Friday Mashup

After missing out on last weeks challenge I am back for The Friday Mashup, wooohooo! This week Liliana has a great challenge for us....you can either create a card with Midnight Muse, Soft Suede, So Saffron and Tempting Turquoise, create a thank you card or you can mash it up and create a thank you card with the colors provided!

Autumn is starting to arrive here in southcentral Alaska.....we've got leaves changing color, days are getting shorter and the mornings are much cooler. I am definitely in the mood for fall so for today's card I mashed it up with a fall theme.

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup blog to check out all the other great cards from the rest of the design team, and then make sure you play along with us!

Punchy Animals with Friday Mashup

It's Friday and I am late with my Friday Mashup, bad me :( Life is running at a 100 mph right now and I am behind on a lot of things, so please forgive me!

Todays challenge is brought to us by one of our new designers, Liliana! She wants us to create a project using our favorite animal, make a project with punch art or mash it up and create your favorite animal using punch art!

Now I know this may come as a suprise(not!) but my favorite animal is the moose. I love, love, love moose and can spend hours watching them, especially when they are in my yard! However I didnt mash it up...most of the punch art moose are too "cutesie" for my taste. I used a retired set for my moose, as well as retired DSP.

I also played along with Freshly Made Sketches by using this weeks sketch for my card!

Head on over to The Friday Mashup to see the rest of the great projects from the rest of the design team and also a big huge congrats to DT member Rita and her husband Jason, who welcome sweet little Laila to the world on Weds!! Congrats Rita!!
