Black and White for 'Tis The Season

This week at 'Tis The Season we have an inspiration photo for you and I think I went pretty literal when making a card based off it. I stuck with the black and white color scheme and also with the banners, creating a simple strip of banners that says "Merry", with the word Christmas stamped below them. I had embossed part of the background with the Stylish Stripes EF and then scored lines across the end of those areas to enhance the spot where the banners are. I was going to add some sequins to the card but those seemed to take away from the simplicity of this card. The picture doesn't do it justice, in person its quite elegant looking!

We hope you'll come by 'Tis The Season and play along with us!

In the Bubble for Friday Mashup

This week at The Friday Mashup Cindy has a super fun challenge....she wants us to create a project using black, white/ivory and one other color of your choice. To add to the fun throw some word bubbles in there too!

As soon as I saw the
sketch at Clean and Simple Stamping I smiled and was like, yes!! It couldn't have come at a better time. I was trying to figure out what to do for my card and this sketch made it all so simple.

I used the Arrows TIEF to emboss a strip of Whisper White and then I die cut the word bubbles in Basic Black and used a white gel pen to create the border. I stamped one of the bubbles from Just Sayin' in Daffodil Delight and used the coordinting die to cut it out. Following the sketch I added the bubbles across the card, with the Daffodil Delight bubble popped up with dimensionals. I don't know what it is about this card but it just makes me smile!

Make sure you head over to
The Friday Mashup to see what the rest of the DT came up with, and also swing by Clean and Simple Stamping and give the sketch a try, its a fun one!

  • Create a project using the colors" Black , White/Ivory and one other color of your choice".
  • Create a project using a "Word Bubble".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Black & White project with a Word Bubble on it".

Black and White Wedding Bling for Friday Mashup

It's Friday, woot woot! I'm even more excited because Wednesday was my last day working the special 10 hr shift I took on over the summer and come Monday I am back on nights, yes! This means more stamping time, which is always a good thing.

Today our Friday Mashup challenge is brought to us by Tara and its a good one. She wants us to either create a project using only the colors black and white, create a project that has some bling or combine them and create a black and white project that has some bling on it!

I knew as soon as I saw this challenge that I wanted to use the Love and Laughter set. I usually have a hard time using just black and white but I thought a wedding congratulations card would be good for that combo. For my bling I added pearl accents to the cake and in the corners of the main panel.

I was also able to play along with Freshly Made Sketches and used their great sketch for my card!

Supplies used (all supplies SU unless otherwise noted):
    Stamps: Love & Laughter
Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Basic Black DSP
    Ink: Black StazOn
Accessories: Big Shot, Lacy Brocade EF, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots EF, Basic Pearls

It's Friday already? Thank goodness! Not only is it the end of the work week, but it's also time for another Mashup challenge! Got your creative juices flowing? Good, because this week Lesley gives us a FANTASTIC challenge! Check out what Lesley has to say:

This week I am so excited to be the challenge hostess and I hope you will get the chance to play along with us! I found these adorable Black and White teapots and I loved the designs on them! I thought they would translate into a good card! Of course, the teapots are just an inspiration, I can't wait to see what you do with the Black and White theme!

This week for our Mashup Challenge, you are welcome to:
1.Create a Black and White Card
    2.Create a Square Card
3.Or "Mash it up" and create a Square Black and White Card!
You can participate by linking up your new project in the linky tool found at the end of each post. It can be a link to a post on your blog or a link to an Online Galllery. We ask that the link be directly to the project you are submitting for the challenge, so we can find it. If you are linking to an online gallery please use the Keyword FM03.

Make sure you head over to The Friday Mashup blog to see what everyone on the design team came up with, enter your own card and then go leave some love for your fellow Mashup players! I know I love seeing all the great cards every week!

I went ahead and mashed it all up! I havent done a square card in a while and I dont think I've ever done just a black and white card, so this was a great challenge for me to try something different.
