How a Digital Printing Press Works
Digital printing presses follow a straightforward workflow from file preparation to finished output.Â
- You send the file. Your print-ready PDF goes to the press’s digital front end.Â
- It maps your artwork onto the print engine.
- The press images your job. Inkjet models deposit ink droplets; toner models fuse powder with heat.
- Depending on the press configuration, finishing options may include lamination, varnish, die-cutting, slitting, and rewinding.
Digital Press vs. Offset Printing
Digital carries no plate cost, so it is cheaper on short runs; offset spreads plate cost across volume, so it wins on long ones. Where your crossover sits depends on your run lengths, and we will work it out with you.

Digital printing also requires fewer chemicals and wastes less paper. Non-digital techniques use a great deal of water; digital presses use none.

The AccurioLabel line is Konica Minolta’s narrow-web, toner-based series, and we stock both models. The AccurioLabel 190 offers digital performance at a reduced price, running at 62 ft/min and 1,200 x 1,200 dpi, a sensible first step if you are bringing labels in-house. The AccurioLabel 230 takes you to 76 ft/min on tack films and tack papers, with an optional over-print kit when you run pre-printed media.
Trojan Label T4 and T5 Presses
Trojan Presses handles your full label production start to finish, so finishing stays under your own roof. The Trojan T4 runs at 60 ft/min and up to 1600 x 1600 dpi across 2 to 13 inch media, with a precision laminator and semi-rotary die-cutting built in. Its TrojanControl touch screen adds a job library and a cost calculator, so you can review operating costs at the machine. - Your volumes. Digital wins on short runs; offset is more economical at very high volumes.
- Your substrates. Thickness is rated, not unlimited: the AccurioLabel 230 handles 81 to 256 gsm, our Trojan presses 50 to 200 microns.
- Your consumables. Wear parts and supplies are not covered by the warranty, so they are an ongoing cost.
