 I can't remember if I got this from a demo tape or if it came from a MySpace page. Either way this band is incredible. I don't know if they ever released anything else but I hoping they did.

La Infinita - Last Train to Paradise (2014)

 This was a band from Southern California and, yes, they do play some of that Sublime-style reggae-rock but only in a couple songs. They do play legitimate ska as well as reggae. 

The song "Don't Let Me Down" is a Beatles cover and it's awesome.

va Pick It Up (2005)

 This is a short compilation of bands from Holland and the surrounding area.

It's rare that I can listen to a ska compilation all the way through without having to skip a track but this is one of those rarities. There are only nine songs here. There could have been 20 but then we might have had to skip a few. This way there is only the best songs from great bands with no filler.

In my opinion the song by Zwit is the top track.

Zwit has been playing since 1984 but it's really hard to find their music anywhere. I have a small collection of songs by them, most of which are live. If this band ever did any studio recordings please let me know. I would love to hear more of them.

Ziptacular! - Don't Call J.J.! (2008)

 Ziptacular was a ska-punk band from Michigan who, I am pretty sure, only released one album in 2009. This was a demo CD-R that the band put out before the album. There are six tracks on this demo and five of them are on the album. Same recordings and I think the same mixes. The only track that wasn't on the album is "This is It!" which is just over a minute long and is more of a intermission than a full song.

 Very third-wave sounding with tight musicianship and male vocals with some female backing vocals.

Son of Blob - The Hippest Cats in Skaville (2001)

 

I recently received more information about the band Son of Blob from the band's guitarist Maurice Bierhuizen who commented:

"Hi there, I recently read this nice post. I played guitar in the Son of Blob and 2nd hand sneakers back in the days. I've recently remastered the album The Hippest Cats in Skaville (the sound was pretty muddy before), I thought you might be interested.

To give a bit of more info; Skippy was our second male singer in the Son of Blob, and was replaced by female singer Lilian who can be heard on The Hippest Cats in Skaville album.
When the Son of Blob broke up, most of us moved on in the new band 2nd Hand Sneakers, with a new female singer Nina. Great potential, but people went abroad and the band broke up in around 2 years time." 

He shared the link to his YouTube channel and his post for the full "Hippest Cats in Skaville" album.

The Barrymores

 Female-fronted third wave ska from Canada. 

As time went on they got better. The vocals went from fun amateur to professional pop vocals. The songwriting started out strong and got even better over time and the band played tighter. Unfortunately as they got better as a band they drifted away from ska. That last album has horns in a few songs but there is only one ska/reggae song and the rest is pop-punk.

I like pop-punk and I think it's a great album but I am disappointed that they moved away from ska when they were at their finest.

Dynamo Ska

 

Dynamo Ska was a German ska band with male/female vocals. They officially released two CDs but they recorded much more than that. Here is everything I have by them and the majority of these files were found on Soulseek so the tags are often incorrect but they are as I found them. I don't know who I downloaded all of these files from or even if those folks are the original uploaders but I thank them just the same as well as the original uploaders. Vielen danke!

Ska Gal & the Hands of Ra

 

This was a turn-of-the-century female-fronted ska band from the UK. 

The reason I never posted them before is because the CD mislabels the song titles. I see on Discogs what the songs should be but that's not how they appear on the CD. At least not on the copy I had. 

I ripped my CD and have since sold or traded it. I no longer have the physical CD and I regret not doing the proper scans. 

The demo tape had no titles listed so the titles are assumed.

 

This is such a great band that, if I didn't post them before I ended the blog, I would regret forever.

Bedlam Beggars - Rude Boy EP (1999)

  Bedlam Beggars was an Australian band who were a very popular live band but they only recorded a handful of songs in the studio. I don't know if they ever had an official studio release aside from this EP but, to be honest, I don't know that this EP was ever released.

It was sent to me many years ago by Merrick who was the keyboard player for this band. He had his own blog and he posted a live recording from Bedlam Beggars. I have included the live recordings in this download
