Profile[edit]
A third year middle school student from another school who took part in the extracurricular camping trip. He can't seem to accept the fact that he has gone astray in another world, and is fearful of Kunemon, having a disdain for him. He isn't even good at putting up a bold front to hide his fear, so his cowardice becomes more and more exposed.

課外キャンプ参加の理由:
一匹狼というイメージが強い彼にとって、
彼が参加を決心したきっかけはただ一つ、

Digimon Survive[edit]
Ryo's mother died to illness when he was very young.
In the present day, he is one of the students who participated in the school camping trip. While he speaks and acts tough in a non-life threatening situation, he is actually very meek when his life is in mortal danger, and his sanity deteriorates quickly when he and the rest of the group is trapped in the Kemonogami World. He, alongside Momotsuka Takuma, Hinata Minoru and Shibuya Aoi were the first four members to make their way to the Abandoned School.
Ryo's partner was Kunemon, who, unlike the other group member's Digimon, was unable to speak in human language. His relationship with Kunemon was strained, as he feared him of being a monster whom he can't even understand. If Takuma chooses to leave him alone in a conversation during Part 1, he will be abducted by Dokugumon.
Ryo became increasingly delusional by Part 3, where he kept thinking and talking about his mother. He absent-mindedly walked into Archnemon's trap because he thought that she was his mother before trembling in fear upon seeing her true form. After the party defeats her and escapes to survey the island, they witness that the geography was significantly different to the real world and the place they were in was surrounded by islands instead of solid ground. This strengthened Ryo's delusions, causing him to believe that the Kemonogami World is the afterlife and he will meet his mom sooner or later. He then strayed to a bridge alone where he ran into Archnemon again, who sends a Cyclomon to kill him, only for the group to arrive in time to stop it. Mid-battle, Cyclomon uses an attack that shakes the entire bridge, and Ryo responds by jumping off from it trying to escape, only for Haru to save him by jumping alongside him as well.
Ryo and Haru land safely, but the former was injured and freaks out upon seeing Haru surviving the fall as well and telling him that he couldn't care less if Ryo died. He now loses grip of reality entirely, trying to use his phone to call his mother to no avail and believing that Takuma and the rest of the group were using the monsters to kill him. When the party go down the bridge to take him back, it was too late, as the fog thickens and displays him an illusion of his mother. Ryo, thinking that his mother is in the fog, laughs insanely and absent-mindedly walks towards it. The fog reveals several Kenzoku within, dragging him into it and killing him, making him the first member of the group to die in a playthrough.
Ryo is one of the two members of the group who will always die in a common route.
Truthful Route[edit]
The player is given a chance to save Ryo after clearing the game at least once, which kickstarts the Truthful Route in earnest and prevents the player from accessing other routes if the conditions are fulfilled. To save Ryo, one must raise Ryo's Affinity Points to the highest amongst the group before the end of Part 3. The correct responses on all of Ryo's conversations give significantly higher Affinity Points compared to other characters, ensuring the player will always reach the Truthful Route even if they hit all of the correct responses on conversations with other group members as long as they speak to Ryo and respond correctly every time he shows up and is available for conversation.
After being saved by Takuma, his relationship with Kunemon was made much better. The two are now virtually inseparable with each other and he is now able to understand Kunemon's language. As a result, Ryo's talk command, which increases Critical Hit rate, is unlocked. He is also pivotal to saving Shuuji by using violence in a constructive manner, allowing Shuuji to realize that he has gone too far and mend his relationship with Lopmon as well.
